About Paul Paxton
Hi, this is me and my son out for a walk in the lake district after a nice steam train ride from Ravensglass
Paul Paxton purchased this Lodge in 2011
Why Paul Paxton chose Windermere
The Lake District is a lovely place where there is something for everyone. A great place to get away from the city and enjoy the walks, scenery and activities that it has to offer.
What makes this Lodge unique
White Cross Bay is set in the heart of the lakes, making it a great base to explore the Lake District.

Great place to go.
The lodge we stayed in was great. Waited a while to get signed in but once at front of queue we were very well looked after. The situation was wonderful and everything was as shown on the listing. It would be useful to have a how to list to help with heating, showers etc. Took a while to find instructions in drawers and cupboards. Also it would be good to have a dvd player in the lounge. Having to watch the DVDs in the bedroom was not ideal. However these are small details as the little holiday was great.
I'm pleased you had a nice stay, there is extensive instruction on how to operate the heating on the heating boiler and instructions on how to light the hob in the kitchen. The shower is just turn the tap round till it reaches the desired temperature and i'm pleased you found the instructions for the DVD player.
A highly recommended base for exploring the Lake District!
We enjoyed our stay immensely. Paul's property is exactly as described and provided us with a very warm and cosy base to explore the Lake District over our 7-year-old daughter's 1/2 Term break.
The location is just perfect. It's a short drive to Booth's supermarket in Windemere to pick up provisions. Even closer is the Spa supermarket and petrol station just down the road.
In the evenings, we ate at the superb Queen's Head in nearby Troutbeck, as well as the Wateredge Inn in Ambleside. Both are an easy drive away.
Paul's property is also conveniently close to the car ferry from Bowness, which is great if you want to explore the opposite side of Lake Windemere, without such a long drive.
The Holiday Park itself is extremely well organised. We bought a £15 family pass to use the facilities for the week and we saw a magic show one evening (which was fantastic) as well as using the pool one morning (pre-booking is essential).
All in all, we had a fab stay and would happily return to Paul's property the next time we visit the Lake District.
I'm really pleased you all had a great time at my Lodge and in the lake district. I look forward to your return.
A great place to stay
The lodge is exactly as described. The master bedroom is a really good size and the ensuite shower room a lovely addition. We walked the short distance to Brockhole twice to walk around the gardens and also to take a lake cruise to Haverthwaite and the steam train. The lodge is in a quiet area of a park which provides a great base from which to explore the stunning scenery. We loved listening out for the owl in the late evening! And the deposit was promptly refunded as promised.
Thank you, i'm really pleased you had a nice time.
First Windermere trip
Absolutely loved it. Communication with Paul was excellent. The lodge was clean, modern and very welcoming - loved the fire! Hope to return soon.
Hi, thank you, really pleased you had a nice time '.-)
Marvellous Lakes holiday lodge
My wife and I stayed for a long weekend October 2019 with our 3 year old daughter and 10 month old son. Surprised at how spacious this high quality well-maintained lodge was. The bedrooms were roomy with plenty of storage space, comfortable beds, and a lovely en suite in the master room. A large travel cot was supplied and a high chair. The kitchen was more than adequate, with large fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The outside decking area / seating area was spacious and would be lovely in summer. The lodge was in a nice quiet close on the edge of the site, but still walkable to the facility block and lake shore. The swimming pool was great (admittedly we came outside peak season) and bar/restaurant reasonable. Nice play area for the little ones.
Very convenient for all Lakes locations particularly Ambleside and Bowness/Windermere.
A real find - we will be back....
Thank you, i'm pleased you were happy with the lodge and site, i look forward to your return.
Rain + Rain = Windermere in October ‘19
Very nice property. Great to be able to park alongside. Certainly plenty of room for us three...and everything provided. Would’ve loved to be able to have sat outside on the verandah but, unfortunately, rain halted play!! But seriously, great lodge to be recommended.
Thank you, sorry about the weather. The sun shine's sometimes', -)
