About Paul Jackson

My wife and I are keen walkers and cyclists and also enjoy good food and drink. I myself ride motorcycles and the Lake District offers some of the most fantastic roads and scenery you will find in the UK. We have been married for many years (since 1979) and have two children (now adults themselves!) who share our love of the Lake District. I promise you......once you have been you will be bitten by its beauty!

Paul Jackson purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Paul Jackson chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We have been coming to the Lake District for some 35 years now and it has never failed to deliver. Whether its spring, summer, autumn or winter it always delivers something new to see and enjoy. The choice of restaurants bars/pubs shops and activities is second to none.

What makes this apartment unique

Within minutes you can go from the busy bustling streets of Windermere/Bowness and find yourself in the beautiful national park. Upon your return to the apartment sit out on the balcony and enjoy the evening sun going down with a long cool drink before deciding the evenings activities!

Convenient apartment to the lake

  • 4 of 5

We rented this apt for our visit to the Lake District. It was exactly as shown. Very clean and everything one might need. It was convenient to the city center. It isn't made clear as to how to get to the center. We were taken by taxi from the train station to the apt and we didn't know exactly where the streets were located to the apt. I just happen to see someone appear walking up the hill from below. And, I happen to notice a walkway to get to apt from the upper part of the center. I think the need to top up the electrical meter should be stated before renting the apt. That information is in the letter of do and don't for the apt. We had two tours scheduled for the two days we were there. One tour was for a half day and started later in the day. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to top up the meter. I would have rather have spent the time seeing the city center rather looking for a place to buy more electrical time. Since we knew that there would not be wifi, it wasn't a problem. Would have been nice to have had it but we made do.

It is a nice place in a beautiful area of the country. I think it was a very good value for the money.

Brilliant location right in Bowness

  • 4 of 5

Despite showing some signs of 'wear' this is a very nice 2 bed apartment which can get the evening sun on the balcony. The best point however is the location as its literally only a short walk down the hill to the heart of Bowness.

Cost apartment

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is very cosy, the lounge area is tiny. We didn't mind as we went to go walking in the lakes not sit in the apartment. There is no wifi and my husband who's mobile network is Vodafone couldn't even get 4g. Again this was not a big issue but I could see how it would be for some guests. It is very central to town centre and a small cut through at the bottom of the car park takes you down away from the high street towards the lake, we only found this by chance when we spotted people appearing from what looked like nowhere. If you don't mind no wifi and a tiny TV then this apartment is ideal. Don't be put off by the stairs up to the flat they do not give a good first impression. Everything in the apartment was clean and tidy and the shower was very efficient, not sure about the off peak heating as we visited in June.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your comments. The welcome letter which every guest receives explains the facilitys for the apartment to which is stated that wifi is not provide. Phone signals can very tremendously around the Lakes District no matter who your provider is unfortunately. I will amend the welcome letter as to walking access to and from the apartment. Thanks once again, Paul

Lovely Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. Very comfortable bed with lovely bed linen too. It's hard to think the apartment is only yards from the shops, cafes, bars etc as it is so quiet. We did lots of walking during the day and took full advantage of the balcony in the evenings....it's perfect. The apartment has everything you need - we didn't find the issue of no Wi Fi a problem - we did connect to BT Hotspots when required but we are regular visitors to the Lakes and love to enjoy them rather than bother with e-mails etc..Thank you Paul & Jane for letting us stay....
