Our names are Paul & Lorna King and we currently live in Oman. Paul is ex British Air Force and now works for the Oman Air Force and I am a Senior Business Development Manager for a group of companies in Oman. We met in Cyprus over 20 years ago and fell in love, as they say Cyprus is the island of LOVE! We decided to set up a home in Cyprus and had the villa built in Kolossi as it is a beautiful village and the villa is situated in a very peaceful area (cul-de-sac). The village has a good mix of nationalities resident in Kolossi.
We had the villa built in 2005. We chose Kolossi for its location, central of the island, in between Akrotiri & Episkopi and have two airports to chose from to fly in and out of Cyprus. If you want to travel around Cyprus, Kolossi is no more than 1.30 hrs from the furthest resort. Nicosia the capital is approximately 1 hour drive, Paphos 40 mins and Ayia Napa 1.10 mins. Our villa is a cool in the summer with the famous Kolossi breeze so windows open as fly screens fitted throughout and warm in the winter and with easy access to local taverns, shops and banks.
A very private quite relaxing villa with own swimming pool, garden and sitting area. Its that quite that the birds wake you up !
We have recently stayed at this lovely villa for a family holiday with my sister and nephew, we were visiting my niece who lives in Akrotiri. This was in an ideal location, the villa was everything we hoped for clean, spacious, well equipped and the outside area with pool was quiet and very relaxing. Large supermarket a 5 minute walk away and small village centre with bar ,bakery, and a view other shops approx 15 mins walk away . We did hire a car and found the nearest beach Curium was lovely with plenty of facilities as was the water park at Fasouri also very close by. I would recommend a stay in the villa especially if you have family in Akrotiri as it was all so convenient for us.
Just got back from a fabulous time at this villa..
excellent accommodation throughout. The pool was great...my 8 yr old daughter has grown gills...
The villa manager Gina was lovely and from england..nothing too much trouble. .
would definitely use again...very reasonably
We were delighted with this villa. It is modern and well maintained. The location is quiet and yet has easy access to the motorway and surrounding areas. The villa is well equipped and managed by a very helpful couple who live locally. We were in Cyprus for a wedding and so did not go primarily to 'sight see'. However, we did have days out in Troodos, Fasouri water park, Limassol, Cape Grecko and the local beach Curium. We found the service locally friendly and prices reasonable - we ate out in Limassol, at Chris' Blue Beach Restaurant on Curium Beach and we used the local Pizza Mia delivery a couple of times. We were never disappointed with our meals! I would recommend this property!
The location is ideal for shops, beaches, restaurants, villages, towns, sightseeing, the Cyprus wine museum and Kolossi Castle. Everything is only a few minutes drive away. Very convenient if you are visiting family at RAF Akrotiri. The villa is situated in a quiet cul de sac, easy parking, and a private pool area for sunbathing or just sitting and relaxing. The villa is very clean and tidy, the management are very helpful and friendly. If you want to watch tv English channels are few, I would suggest taking some dvds especially if you have children. You should have everything you need in this villa, the only things missing are a dishwasher, a teapot and a tin opener!
We just spent 16 days in the villa and had a great time. For a family of 4 with young teenage children, they loved the pool and played in it constantly giving us parents a break ! We chose this villa because of the great location and it allowed us to visit Paphos, Limassol, Ayia Napa and Troodos mountain and see lots of the island. We were just 15 minutes from Limassol and went there for water sports (cheaper that Ayai Napa), a great selection of shopping and also the lovely new marina that is being developed. We were also just 10 minutes away from the Fasouri water park, a must for any family. We went twice and loved it - there were water rides for all ages (look out for the discount coupons in the local supermarket magazines).
For food, there are plenty of posh options at the marina in Limassol or if you want something simpler, there are plenty of local places near the villa. Without question, the best place we found was Michael's in Erimi, about 2 miles away. A Cypriot tavern, been going for 25 years, lots of history inside, lovely meza's and Michael will do anything you request if you give him a day's notice or so. Great service, excellent value (55 euros for our family of 4) and the taste, quality and freshness was truly wonderful! The local supermarket is just a short walk away but a car is recommended.
So in summary, we had a great time, villa was lovely and clean, excellent value for money and ideally situated, especially for a bit of sight seeing and we'd certainly go back again. One last tip, if you go, take the coastal road from Kolossi to Paphos via Episkopi, Pissouri and Aphrodities rock, it's a wonderful route with brilliant views - a MUST !
The villa is comfortable with all of the facilities required for an enjoyable enough stay. Local agents Angelo and Gina were friendly and helpful and were particularly useful when we had an issue with the car hire company upon arrival. However the welcome pack could have been improved by the addition of some sugar and perhaps a packet of biscuits as we arrived later than expected and nowhere was open to buy anything to eat.
Please note that personal transport is a necessity. Alpha Mega (Tesco) and a small convenience store are within walking distance as are two restaurants that were never open when we were hungry. For any other requirements you will need to drive since Kolossi appears to be a dormitory settlement with a not particularly frequent bus service. We clocked up just over 1000km in a two week stay and did not visit Larnaca or Nicosia which are both lengthy drives so factor this in to your budget and itinerary.
Curium Beach is approximately 7 - 10 mins drive away and is famous for sitting back and watching the surfers and para gliders. Although Curium is know for its waves, the beach is safe and utilised by all ages young & old and is monitored by beach safe guards. There are some excellent tavernas and beach bars to visit.
Kolossi is approximately 79 kms from Larnaca Airport and only 52 kms from Paphos Airport. Car hire can be arranged if required or international car hire is available. Kolossi is a fantastic location being central of the island and no more than 1.30 hrs away from the furthest resort.
Kolossi Castle , Curium Amphitheatre, Paphos - Tombs of the Kings, Coral Bay, Limassol Town - 12 kms, Paphos - 55kms, Troodos - 50 kms, Ayia Napa - 110 kms, Nicosia - 95 kms. Nearest villages Erimi, Episokpi, Akrotiri and Yapsonos.
Kolossi is central of the island so no more than 1hr 30 mins from any other resort. Local places of interest are Kolossi Castle and Curuim Amphitheatre for the geologists, Salt Lake for twitches and the whole island for the flower watchers.
