Cottage in Bowness-on-Windermere, Lake District, Cumbria, England - A Peaceful Location, 10 Minutes Stroll To The Lake And 15 Minutes To The Fells
About Ged Maguire
We have owned this property 13 years, it has been lovingly renovated to a very high standard. We live close by and are on hand should you need any help but love the fact you are secreted away so can be completely private if you so wish.
Why Ged Maguire chose Windermere
Annisgarth Howe is truly special. Particularly spacious but still retaining charm and cosiness. There are amazing walks on the doorstep, it is close to all amenities but yet secreted away.
What makes this Cottage unique
Annisgarth Howe is the perfect location. It is quietly tucked away but you can walk to the top of Brantfell in 20 mins, where you will enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Windermere, you can even see the sea on a clear day! Should you prefer the shops and local hostelries a ten minute walk will do the job. Another couple of minutes will bring you directly to the watersedge, with the chance to hop on a steamer for a magical trip on the Lake.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
The perfect getaway
Booking process very straightforward and all information needed readily available or provided if not. Ged replied very quickly to our questions. Cottage was perfect for our needs: clean, comfortable and well equipped. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return. The walk uphill may not be to everyone's liking but we loved the location as a base for exploring the area. Definitely highly recommended.
Loved our stay
Lovely cottage about 10 minutes walk from Bowness and maybe 20 minutes from Windermere. It's in a quite spot and it was lovely sitting in the garden at breakfast with no noise other than birds. We arrived and even though we were a bit early , Ged messaged to say that wasn't a problem. When we arrived, the place looks quite small from the outside but it's a bit of a TARDIS inside. Kitchen /diner and lounge a very good size, bedroom is a bit small but eh, you only sleep in there and and the bed was comfy as we both slept like logs. The shower is very good and the whole place was spotlessly clean. There's plenty of leaflets ect of things to do and a few games for bad weather days. We didn't need them as our weather was great. Ged popped by on our first night to check all was well and although we had no problems hiring our stay, I think he would have been happy to help if we had. Really couldn't fault this place and we enjoyed Bowness very much. Will definitely visit the area again and hope that Annisgarth Howe will be free because we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Delightful holiday home
We had a fantastic stay at Annisgarth Howe.
Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated it was a home away from home.
A perfect base from which to explore the stunning Lake District....
Absolutely recommend it.
Amazing Get Away!
This holiday cottage was exactly what we were looking for. It was spotlessly clean, in a quiet location and had a very welcoming feel to it. We couldnt have asked for anything better for our first visit to the Lake District ..... perhaps just a little more sunshine! Thoroughy enjoyed our stay.
Briliant - Ged couldnt do enough for us
Very clean with everything you need - home from home
Lovely cottage and surroundings
Me and my partner had a lovely couple of nights stay here. Very cosy and homely feel. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Lots of great places to eat within walking distance. Only bad thing was we didn’t stay longer!!
The Lake District boasts a host of lakes, tarns and meres. However should you wish to visit the sea, Arnside (possibly has the best chip shop ever!) is only 18 miles away, with Grange and Morecambe Bay just a little further.
Manchester is the nearest international airport, approx 90 miles by road. There is a train service from the airport to Windermere, via Oxenholme. Taxis are available at the station.
Unless you are visiting to walk or cycle, it is advisable to have a car during your stay.
