An old farmhouse with former sheep and goat barns has been recently turned into a beautiful, charming and luxury villa. "Villa Montebello" means "beautiful mountain" and from its lofty position the villa is overlooking the Versilia Coast and the beautiful mountains of the Apuan Alps. The villa is awaiting its first guests in summer 2014, after having been totally and intensively restored in the old traditional Tuscan style. And this takes time...Besides of the original facade, the thick stone walls, the visible old chestnut beams and the beautiful old cotto floors - everything has been turned into new tecnical standards. The former sheep and goat barns - being used now as a pool house and and a roofed outdoor living space - are still showing the original stone walls of the 19th century. The main house offers 6 sleeping rooms, 4 rooms with double queensize beds and 2 rooms with 2 single beds each, alltogether 8 sleeps. 2 of the double rooms have got ensuite bathrooms.

About Thomas Ruemmele
When we came the first time to places like Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta and Lucca we fell deeply in love with this part of Tuscany. And after 15 years living and working here nothing has changed. Its paradise! This region close to the beaches, the historical cities and the mountains is offering all kind of choices and possibilities: When you’re looking for a beautiful golf course, there is the most elegant one near Forte, just a few minutes by car. The beaches and the Alps - Alpe Apuani - are just in front of you and if you want to mingle with the rich and beautiful people go for a shopping tour to the most famous designer shops in Forte dei Marmi. Lifestyle at its best! The difference to other places is the advantage that infrastructure, social and cultural life are active all year round.

A Tuscan Family Holiday
We organised a family trip to the Villa for my Wife's "significant" birthday. we were not disappointed the Villa is magnificently restored to a high standard by Thomas the owner and its mountain location, whilst still being near the seaside resorts, was outstanding. It goes almost without saying that all our children and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we would be delighted to stay there again notwithstanding the challenging and exciting drive up to the Villa from the road!
We had a truly memorable holiday in a lovely Tuscan farmhouse.
Rob and Linda Cleaver
Dear Linda, dear Rob,
we are glad an honoured that you have chosen Villa Montebello for your wife's birthday celebration and that your liked your stay with us so much.
Our guests appreciate the position of Villa Montebello when they returned from the hot and lively beaches and found Villa Montebello with its tranquility, nicely breezes from the mountains and 3 degrees Celsius less...
The entire road from Pietrasanta to Montebello has been paved recently and you will find our little private access next year in the same condition.
Welcome back and thank you so much for your review

Stunning Tuscan Villa
My wife and I and friends spent an unforgettable time at the Villa Montebello. Everything was perfect, the manicured garden, sparkling pool and stunningly decorated and restored rooms, with the most comfortable beds. There were 6 bedrooms to choose from, and a lovly big lounge with satelite TV and unlimeted WI FI. We were withing walking distance of 2 local resturants, and only 5 Km from the village, a further 5 took us to the beach. We also visited Rome by Train from Pietrasanta, and there is ample free parking at the train station. Florence and Pisa are also just an hour by train, and relay worth the trip. All in all a stunning stay and thank you from Myself and Lee Anne to Thomas who advised us about all to do and even booked restaurants for us. We will be back.
Dear Lee-Ann and family,
thank you so much for your nice review. We are happy that you liked your stay at Villa Montebello alot. It was our pleasure having had you and your family with us. Please come again as you promised, even if it´s a long distance to Capetown. We will create a new program for your next stay. There´s a lot more to see, to enjoy and to taste in Tuscany...

An absolutely fantastic villa, we were all really blown away by the stunning views and look and feel of the place, everything was finished to a very high standard, far better than you could imagine from the photos. We were taken very well care of and nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you for a wonderful stay !!
thank you so much for your compliments. Highly appreciated. And you are an expert working in the hotel/tourism business. This counts even more!
We are happy that you have enjoyed the Villa and the villa´s position so much. Next week one of the best italian professional photographers, Stefano Scatá, (google his website!) will take new photos in order to show what Villa Montebello is really alike in real. But isn´t it better, when the villa turns out more beautiful upon your arrival than you have expected before?
Please come again next season! You, Nicola and families have been wonderful guests

Very nice house
Very nice house, easy to use, in a very calm area and beautiful landscape. The situation is excellent (in the tuscany mountains, 15 minutes away from the sea, 45 minutes away from Pisa tower and about 90 minutes from Firenze). I strongly recommend to rent this house.
PS1: Access road not so easy for sport cars (low distance with ground)
PS2: Maybe an ice cubes machine is missing
relaxed vacation in Tuscany
We spent 3 weeks in this beautiful restored house up in the hills of the Versilia coast which we had already visited last summer shortly before renovation had been finished. Everything here is just beautiful: the rooms, the decoration, the garden, the views on the surroundings, the outdoor seating varieties, the pool - overall we and our 3 adult children and their friends had a great time there. Up to twelve people can stay there; we were 7 people and it was a perfect place for us to stay.
The beach is 25 minutes away by car and there are lots of sighting possibilities in the area. It is about 6 km to Camaiore to buy food.
The owner took very good care of us, not only by keeping the property clean (help came once a week to clean the house and the pool) but also by providing valuable info about the area and by even reserving a table for us in good restaurants (several times during our stay). We can fully recommend this property if you are looking for a relaxed vacation in the mountains of Tuscany. A big "thank you" once more to the owner for this nice place and his personal help to make our vacation another memorable experience.
Beautiful mountain villa
Villa Montebello looked nice in the pictures, but it was even nicer when we got there. The old farmhouse turned into a well-equipped modern villa and was stylish and beautiful. The place felt nicely private, and the view was great. Everything was very tidy and well organized. The host/master of the house took a good care of the group and all practicalities.
Special interest holidays: Owner offers own restaurant guide and makes reservations upon request in case your Italian language skills are not the best. Cookery courses could be arranged only in May, June, end of September and October. Reservations for Haidresseer and medical massages are made upon request. Coast/Beach: In a 20 minutes drive (9 km) you will get to the beaches of the Versilia Coast. Please note, most of the beaches are private ones, called "bagni". They are pretty expensive, but the beaches there are clean, you will get an umbrella with 2 or 4 sunbeds, towels etc. Most of the bagni are serving light lunch and dinner and offering of course bathrooms and showers. Public beaches are often crowded on week ends and during August and they are usually not as good maintained as the private bagni. Travel: Private or rental car is essentual. At Pisa Airport there are lots of international and local Car Rental Companies. Distance from Pisa Airport to Villa Montebello aproxx. 45 km or a 40 minutes drive. Ferry ports are La Spezia - 35 km -(Cinque Terre) and Livorno - 30 km - (Elba Island). Next train station at Pietrasanta (8 km). Major train station Pisa Centrale. From there trains to Florence, Rome, Bologna, Milan. Train tickes are cheap in Italy. Distances: Nearest villages: Monteggiori 3 km, Camaiore 4 km, Pietrasanta 6 km Nearest town: Lucca 35 km, Pisa 40 km, Florence 85 km Nearest restaurant: St. Lucia, Monteggiori 2 km Nearest grocery store: Camaiore 4 km, Pietrasanta 6 km Nearest super market: Pietrasanta 6 km, Lido di Camaiore 7 km Further Details: The position of Villa Montebello is remarkable: You´ll get a wide range of options and possibilities for your holidays: Relaxing and sunbathing at the pool area and under shady trees in the garden, Social and cultural life in medieval cities like Pietrasanta, Lucca, Firenze, Art gallerys, vernissages, special events and exhibitions in Pietrasanta Architectural highlights in Lucca, Firenze Wine tasting tours Gourmet cuisine or tipical Tuscan cuisine - own restaurant guide and reservations Shopping tours to Forte dei Marmi with its hip boutiques of world standard: Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and others Mingling with the rich, beautiful and important VIP´s in Forte dei Marmi Sightseing Tours to Pisa, Lucca, Carrara, Sarzana, Firenze Boat Tours to the Cinque Terre Hiking and climbing in the hills and mountains of the Apuan Alps (elevations upto 2.100 m above sea level) Mountainbiking Water Sports Playing golf on one of the most elegant golf courts of Italy (17 km) Horseback riding Cooking Courses, Painting or Sculpture and Language Courses or easy going Beach Life you wont´miss something...
