A secluded apartment with spacious private terrace offering breathtaking 360° mountain views, located in the heart of the lively medieval village of Tavernelle. Two minutes walk from a great family run restaurant; another is 20 minutes walk away, in a stunning mountainside monastery. The village cafe/bar serves the best pizza at weekends. The typically rustic Tuscan interiors of Casa Giulia include living room, galley kitchen, double bedroom, shower room. Access to the terrace is through French windows from the living room. The terrace has a brick barbecue and a generous table, chairs and loungers. Shade is provided. The apartment offers a perfect base for exploring Tuscany and the surrounding areas: a 40-min drive from the lovely seaside town of Lerici and the fabulous Cinque Terre; one hour from beautiful Lucca, and 1 hour 30 minutes from Florence and Siena. In winter, the ski slopes are a 25-min drive away. Broadband access. Towels/linen provided. Laundry service available on request.
'A Romantic Idyll in the real Tuscany... A wonderful experience overall. The accommodation was exactly as described, clean, well equipped and homely with amazing views. What a delight to sit on the terrace!'
'Really sorry to leave. Hugely enjoyed our stay there... loved the wooded hills and villages... and the pace of life. The apartment was fabulous'
'A perfect escape... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We couldn't have imagined how stunning the setting would be. Not even the photographs and information on the website could have prepared us for just how beautiful the view from the terrace actually is! The accommodation is set in very quaint, typically Italian surroundings and had everything we needed. Tavernelle has been a wonderful escape. We will definitely return again.' 5 out of 5

We had a fantastic week at Casa Giulia - relaxing on the beautiful terrace, admiring the fantastic scenery. We dragged ourselves away from the terrace to explore the local towns and villages and the local cuisine.
A week well spent!
We could not have asked for more from our stay in Tavernelle. Nestled in the rugged Italian mountains but easily accessible by car and with great local amenities. The apartment itself is excellent, we were surprised by how big it was, the photos do not do justice to the beautiful balcony and living area, let alone the stunning views around it! The property was clean and everything worked as it should/was described. It was great to have wifi which worked so well up in the hills. The local area has a brilliant butchers shop and lovely authentic Italian bar which serves incredible pizza at the weekend. For larger shopping trips we tended to head into Licciana Nardi just down the road which has a bigger butchers shop, bread and large grocers, the italian produce in this area is great. Whilst there are numerous activities and restaurants in the area, we mostly found ourselves cooking in the apartment and enjoying the balcony in the sun. However we did enjoying running around the mountain roads and rugged walking paths. All in all I could not recommend Casa Guila highly enough, an excellent trip, if only it had been another week! Thanks, Alex
Casa Guilia is a splendidly situated and well equipped property having magnificent views of majestic mountains and valleys.
Despite being in a mountain village, it is a mere twenty minutes by car to the coastal plain and the nearest town, Aulla. The Rail Station there means you can leave the car for the day and travel easily and cheaply to Lucca ( Take the scenic route via Piazza al Serchio as it’s a joy), Sarzana (For the old town and market) and the Cinque Terre via La Spezia (Which we’ll do on a return visit).
Otherwise, there’s an extensive choice of fabulous circular day drives and scenic walks direct from the village. It takes a mere half-hour by car to cross the border into Emilia Romagna and the Apennines . The Bay of Poets is worth a trip, too.
In fact, the entire area is blessed with natural wonders, good food and wine and is not overrun by mass tourism. Go, and immerse yourself in the culture of a lesser known, yet beautiful, part of Italy.
We had a fabulous time in Casa Julia. This wonderful little medieval village is such a find, tucked away halfway up the Tavarone Valley, in a part of Tuscany most tourists don't get to see. Coming from California, we had plans to do so much traveling and see as much of Tuscany as we could - but we ended up spending a lot of our time on the large terrace bathed in sunshine, listening to the sounds of the village and enjoying the glorious views up and down the valley. And we don't regret a minute of it!
As the sea and markets are only a short hop down the mountain we did do some great day trips to the Cinque Terre, Lerici and its castle, and my wife especially loved the high-end fashion market on Wednesday in Fortei dei Marmi. We also did a day trip to the beautiful and historic walled town of Lucca, where we had fun renting bikes and cycled the walls.
The village of Tavernelle and its environs has several excellent places to eat, and we felt spoiled by the local cuisine. My personal favorite was the local bar 'Il Carpriolo' where even with our pigeon Italian we were always made to feel welcome and the food was delicious.
The owners of the Casa were very helpful giving us instructions on arrival and a lot of good tips on what to see and where to eat. The apartment was spotless and impeccably maintained, but the gem was that amazing terrace. All in all we had an unforgettable, wonderful experience.
Lovely property for a couple and great value. The location is remote enough to need a car but from the property everything worth visiting is within an hours drive.
The owners were very very helpful and I recommend a visit! We would return without any doubt.
I have also put a more comprehensive review on trip advisor.
