About Justin Haines
This a family owned property with the family living next to the property. We are a married couple with a 9 year old son. We are both professionals and work during the week, whist our son goes to a local village school.
Justin Haines purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Justin Haines chose Chippenham
Built in 1900 as a stable block and tack room Dovenby Cottage has been used to house horses, donkeys, sheep, chickens, carts and even soldiers on leave from WWII. In spring 2013 we lovingly converted it to a cottage of the highest quality, whilst keeping many of its period features. We love this area of the South Cotswolds because whilst being a beautiful part of rural Wiltshire it has great accessibility to a wide range of amenities. We are surrounded by National Trust sites and properties such as Dyrham park, Laycock Abbey and Avebury, plus are very close to Bath and Bristol. One of our favourite things to do at the weekends is to walk to Castle Combe for lunch.
What makes this Cottage unique
Dovenby Cottage is a lovely place to snuggle up on a cold day. It has underfloor heating throughout, but if you prefer this can be switched off and you can light a log fire. On warmer days you have a garden and patio, with bbq to enjoy. The property is just a minutes walk to the village shop and 20 minutes from an award winning pub. It is a slightly longer walk to famous Castle Combe. Ideally located to venture in to Bath, yet escape the crowds for rural tranquillity at the end of the day.

Peace and quiet
The cottage is lovely, very clean and in such a quiet location. The free standing bath was a real treat, as is the shower. The owners very thoughtfully left a bottle of wine and homemade cake as well. It's a lovely place to relax, while being able to explore the local area, I definitely enjoyed the peace and quiet, away from the usual humdrum of life and would recommend this cottage to anyone.
Our cottage getaway
Our overall impression of Dovenby Cottage is Superb! It is a lovely, well furnished property. Thank you, Justin and Phillipa, for the warm welcome, the delicious home-made lemon cake and for arranging the Ballon Landing - just for us! Please remember Michael and I to Di, the post mistress. She was friendly and most helpful when we visited her. If we visit the Bristol area again we will definitely arrange to stay at Dovenby. Thanks again for a great experience!

Cosy cottage in tranquil setting
Well equipped & comfortable cottage in rural location. Ideal for exploring local area which has much to offer.
I had the most wonderful time at Dovenby Cottage. The cottage was cosy and inviting and had everything I could possibly need for my stay (including a delicious homemade lemon drizzle cake which I happily devoured!!). Justin & Philippa have put together a very informative booklet for the cottage telling you everything you need to know about the cottage, the area and some lovely walks (I highly recommend the one into Castle Combe). The cottage is in such a quiet and lovely area and ideal for some R&R and time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I will definitely be returning!
Lucia was an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout the booking process and took great care of the cottage. Thanks for your kind words, we're really glad you enjoyed your stay and plan to return.
A wonderful staycation!
We stayed at Justin’s cottage for a couple of nights and it was just wonderful. The cottage is fully refurbed with a great wet room bath, lovely kitchen and a huge bedroom with very comfy beds. Justin was extremely friendly and everything was set up upon arrival. The local area is as remote as it gets with delightful pubs and viewpoints, I highly recommend staying here to get away from it all! Thanks again Justin and family! :)
