About the property

Chalet in Eype, Nr. Bridport, Dorset. A short stroll to the beach. Sleeps up to 6 + baby. Fully equipped for a great holiday.

No 11 was newly constructed in 2005. It has 2 Beds (sleeping 4) plus a sofa bed and a travel cot for a baby and is fully accessible for Disabled use. The beach is mere footsteps away. The village of Eype has a small shop, pub and a hotel. The market town of Bridport is a 5 minute drive or easily reached on foot. The chalet is a perfect base for walking and enjoying the beautiful unspoilt beach of Eype. The cliff path can take you to Dorset's highest point Gold Cap and further on to Lyme Regis for the hardier walkers. Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury and Weymouth are also close by to spend time exploring. The chalet is fully equipped for all your needs. A High chair, washing machine, WiFi, Microwave, Cooker,fridge,TV,DVD, Iron,Ipod docking station, radio, BBQ, garden chairs., fishing rod, boule game and other board games and cards. For couples staying the twin beds can be put together to make a superking bed which then we the sofa bed would allow 3 couples to stay.

About Kim Harvey

We bought No 11 in 2004 as a little asbestos shack. We demolished it and put up the building as it is today. It has been constructed using the most energy efficient means and a specification that lifeboat houses use to combat the elements. Its old shack had history dating back to the second world war when it used to be the tea place for the home guard whilst guarding the shores.

Why Kim Harvey chose Lyme Regis & West Dorset

We came across the auction details in the local press. We came to look at the site and were so taken with the area we decided to buy. The plot we picked felt best served to fit in the type of building we wanted to erect. We have stayed here in all weathers and it is as idyllic in each season. There is always so much to explore without even having to get the car out.

What makes this chalet unique

Its position to the Jurassic Coast I would say is the best benefit. The beach is never crowded so you can always guarantee plenty of space. The views of the surrounding countryside as well is amazing especially if you are into wildlife.

When we reached the chalet we seemed to immediately relax. We will return.

We arrived in the dark so did not see the beautiful surroundings of the sea and cliffs till morning. It is an idyllic place. We have walked for miles and experienced some truly lovely sights and food. Will not hesitate to come back.

Very pleased with no. 11. Everything you could possibly need was provided. It took a little while to work out how to get the heating on. It was very cold in there when we first went in, but once we got the heater in the living room to work it warmed up in a couple of hours. Comfy bed and beautiful bathroom, tho the heated rail took forever to warm up and never really got warm enough to heat the room, so quite chilly in there coming out of the Shower!

The chalet park was lovely and quiet as expected in December! But just what we needed. All in all we had a lovely break and would recommend it to our friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your lovely review. I am sorry about the towel rail and the chalet no being warm enough when you arrived. The heaters do normally warm it up pretty quickly but they should have been put on ready for you so apologies there. Thanks for mentioning about the towel rail. You were the first people in since the bathroom refit. I will get that looked at.

Great long weekend. The accommodation was warm and snug. I will however say that the only downfall was no freezer!! Just an ice box in the under counter fridge.

The chalet was as described.

We found the chalet to be clean and well furnished. Although there is no garden there is a large field immediately outside with a gate leading to a car park and then onto the beach (down some steep steps) or the coastal path. Most of the beach is pebbles but there is some sand when the tide is out. The road to the chalet is single track with some passing points, the nearest shops are in Bridport, an attractive town about a mile away. It is advisable to check when the restaurants at the New Inn and the Manor House Hotel (the two nearest eateries) are open before planning where to eat. As we had good weather and our dog was with us we were able to spend most of our time walking on the beaches and paths in the area.

Lovely location

We enjoyed a week in this lovely chalet, we were very impressed with the space and all the finishing touches. The owner Kim was very helpful and the chalet was well equipped with lots of extras. The location is idyllic and quiet by the sea yet 20 minutes cliff walk and you're in West Bay. We will certainly be returning.

Lovely property in a wonderful location.

Our family of four had a great time at no. 11 chalet. The setting and amenities were as described and better.

We walked to both Seatown and West Bay and enjoyed the coast immensely.

It was a pleasure staying there watching the rabbits play in the field in the sunset as we relaxed at tea.

We'd highly recommend this property for others on holiday.

Beautiful stay

Chalet was amazing ! Location was fantastic and right on the beach. Bit tricky with access down the tight lanes but generally not that bad. If you like scenery and rambling then wow this is for you! To the left you can walk to Bridport and West Bay and to the right you can go all the way to Lyme Regis.

There is a small shop 100 yards away that sells the essentials if you run short or a 10 minute drive to Bridport takes you to morrisons supermarket.

Back up the lane from chalet there is a pub/Inn that serves food and is highly recommended.

Overall a great stay for me my wife my 8yr old daughter and our dog!!

The beach is no more than 100yds walk from chalet. Eype beach is a shingle beach with lots of interesting things to find. Fossils if you are really lucky and lots of rock pools. Fishing is also good off of the beach. Dogs are welcome here all year round. There is also a beach at West Bay, Seatown and Charmouth.


Eype village is a short walk away, whereas Bridport the local Market Town is a 5 minute drive or can be walked in around 20 mins. There is a vibrant arty theme to Bridport which can be seen at the markets held on a Wednesday and Saturday in the town. There is a great Farm shop at Washingpool a 10 minute drive away. Downe House out door cafe can be found either by walking across the hills or a few minute drive away. Cakes and scones their speciality.

Further Details:

West Bay has a leisure centre and amusements as well as boat rides. You can also take a Boat trip to Lyme Regis for the day. Lyme Regis is well worth a visit as is Bere and Sidmouth.

This area is great for walkers and mountain bikers alike. You can go left to Portland, Chesil, Weymouth and to Poole beyond or go right to Lyme, Exeter and beyond. For Artists there is a wealth of amazing countryside and sea views to paint. For the Foodies there is seafood in abundance. Hive Beach at Burton Bradstock, Adam Hicks Restaurant in Lyme Regis and many more.

Notes on accommodation: The chalet has been built in a very energy efficient way and is very warm and cosy in winter. There is heating in all rooms as well as an electric focal fire in the living area. Ideal for that winter getaway. Outside: There is decking around both the front and side of the chalet. There is a picnic bench seating and also deckchairs to enjoy the sunshine and the views. There is a large grassed communual area in front of the chalet for ball games etc. Utility Room: Washer/dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels are provided and the chalet is cleaned thoroughly at each changeover day.
