Stayed with my husband and 3 children.
If you are looking for a property that is not only stunning but has everything that you could possibly need for a self catering stay then look no further, the owners have thought of everything.
The accommodation itself is of a very high standard set in a rural location but on the edge of a beautiful village with 2 pubs within 5-10 mins stroll away (Highly recommend the Monks Retreat - friendly staff, great food and good beer. The Coppa Dolla we didn't find as welcoming and was greeted with "if you haven't booked then there is nowhere for you to sit" even though there was nobody in the pub other that the barmaid. We had a quick drink and didn't return!).
Highly recommend a visit to Dawlish and Dartmouth - now our favorite places.
From the clear and friendly communications prior to our visit, the home made cake awaiting on our arrival to our friendly send off at the end of our stay the owners could not make you feel any more welcome.
HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Myself and my elderly parents have just returned from a week's stay at Parke Barn. Very comfortable accommodation of a very high standard, particularly good for my Mum who has mobility problems as the large downstair bedroom and wet room were ideal. Very impressive underfloor heating from an airsource heat pump which kept the whole barn warm throughout the stay (no need to use the wood burner although it is a lovely addition to the lounge area). Everything you could need in the kitchen, excellent selection of utensils, crockery, cookware amd cutlery. Nice touch with the spinge cake, tea and milk waiting fir our arrival. Thanks Bill we had a lovely stay in beautiful Devon and would thoroughly recommend Parke Barn as a great place to base yourself.
We stayed for a week in February. Barn was clean, beautifully decorated and homely. We were greeted by the owners despite being late and welcomed with a large, delicious cake.
The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need and the wood burning stove was ready to go. Comfortable beds, good showers, lots of towels.
The village is peaceful with an amazingly well stocked community shop. The horses in the nearby stables were a favourite with our children.
Parke Barn gets a 10/10.A great place to unwind from life's daily hustle & bustle. its set in a lovely countryside location but within 15 minutes you can be at the coast. Well situated for many of South Devon's attractions. The property is well maintained , well equipped & set in a very peaceful location. Your nearest neighbours are 3 lovely friendly horses. If you want a place that's peaceful, tranquil & idyllic then Parke Barn's the place for you
Thanks for a lovely week in Broadhempston. Really great barn with everything you need. All rooms to a high standard, very large beds and the walk in showers are really good. Nice small village with 2 local pubs of which the Coppa Della serves wonderful food. Located 10 mins from the coast and 10 mins from Dartmoor, location is ideal. I'd forgotten how wonderful Devon is and we will be back soon.
PS Communication with the owners was also first class
Having stayed at Parke Barn for a longer than usual break, I would strongly recommend it. The barn itself is pristine, warm and functions perfectly. The setting is great for both tranquility and walking distance to the lovely village of Broadhempston. Broadhempston itself has lots to offer by way of pubs, local shop with café, local walks and great local people. It is a good location for many other local villages and Totnes itself. It was an unforgettable experience for myself, my partner and 2 young boys.
