Our local market (Sainte Foy La Grande) has been voted the peoples favourite market in France.

Caspian was brought up in Germany, Lulu was brought up in Cyprus and Jeffery (our chocolate labrador) is a Welsh boy and we all found a most beautiful home in the South of France. Caspian is a Chartered Engineer by background and has worked for corporations in Germany and England. Lulu is a qualified biology teacher and as a second career she also worked for a large pharmaceutical company in England for many years. We have many friends here locally and also internationally and enjoy their company whenever we can.
The fact that we already had many local friends around Bordeaux was an important factor for us to choose the vineyards of Bordeaux as our home. This combined with romantic vineyards, pretty villages, enjoyable towns, easy airport connections and the friendly locals made the task of choosing a home in this region simple for us.
The completely renovated Maison de Maitre (Manor House) dating back to the 16th century and giving one a sense of history, the beautifully lit pool area at night and the well laid out park make La Gorce a memorable experience. Its architecture oozes the charm one would expect of such an historic property.
We stumbled across the website by chance and are so pleased that we booked! We have just returned from an idyllic week chillaxing by the pool and exploring the surrounding villages. The cottage was fully equipped and the kitchen by the pool was used on a daily basis. Caspian and Lulu were delightful hosts and wouldn't hesitate to return tomorrow
We had a very relaxing stay in a beautiful gite. The owners were very warm and weloming to us and our 2 dogs and made our experience special. They told us all about the great markets, restaurants and places to go, which made our stay very enjoyable. The pool and location of the gite were fabulous and the facilities were of a very high standard. We would recommend it to any of our friends.
La Force is a beautiful property, in a lovely very peaceful location. Lulu and Caspian, the owners, were available without being intrusive and very knowledgeable about the area. The pool and outdoor kitchen were welcome during our two weeks of sunshine. We stayed in Kiwi cottage which was clean, well equipped and very comfortable.
There are a number of good restaurants in the area as well as a small supermarket and a good boulangerie within minutes of La Force.
We would have no hesitation in recommending Kiwi cottage and La Force to our friends

Caspian and Lulu are a delight and did their best to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Unfortunately they could not change the weather and we were just unlucky to get a week of rain. However, the logs for the log burner were much appreciated! Seriously we would love to return to really appreciate the surroundings in a better light and so we can actually try the pool. Geoffrey is lovely - but then he is a chocolate Labrador - so only to be expected! Kiwi cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are some good restaurants locally. We enjoyed a meal at L'Ardoise which Caspian was kind enough to book for us as we arrived late on our first night. The local area has good supermarkets and there were plenty of Chateaux to visit to dodge the rain. It is possible to get to the Atlantic coast in around 2 hours which is great for surfing and seaside towns. All in all we would have no hesitation in recommending a holiday here if you are looking for some rest and relaxation. Thanks Caspian and Lulu. We hope to be back and please order us some sunny weather next time!
Kiwi Cottage at La Gorce ticked all the right boxes for our french holiday with our two retrievers.
Caspian and Lulu were so welcoming, kind and helpful, and at the end of our holiday we parted as good friends. The cottage was perfect, beautifully appointed and just right for all our needs. It has a beautiful view out over the fields and vineyards and is a lovely peaceful place to relax and chill out. When we had a colder day we could even light a wood burning stove which was wonderful. The swimming pool was an added bonus and we would have spent most of our time in it if the sun had shone a bit more! We took our two retrievers with us, and it was a perfect spot for them too. They were very happy pottering about the garden and relaxing with us, and there are plenty of local walks for them to enjoy. There is a large supermarket, pharmacy and vets very close by, as well as some great french cafes and restaurants, so all our needs were met.
We highly recommend La Gorce as a wonderful spot to relax and explore the beautiful Dordogne, and hope to go back again ourselves.

A warm and thoughtful greeting by the owner set the tone for a wonderful stay! A very central location to the area and the many attractions and sights it has to offer. The Kiwi Cottage accommodation more than met our expectations. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and it felt like a home away from home. The quiet enjoyment of a glass of wine overlooking the vineyards outside our front door will always be a fond memory. We would highly recommend this property to anyone considering traveling to this area of France.
We had a fantastic time in Kiwi cottage after making the long drive from the UK. The cottage was easy to find and positioned in an idyllic location with great facilities. The pool was clean and a lovely temperature, and the cottage has everything you could possibly need. We were surrounded by vineyards and tomato fields, the pool house was great for a BBQ and a cold beer in the evening. Grounds are spot on and we really enjoyed having dinner on the cottage terrace at night, Caspian and Lulu were really helpful with the surrounding areas and restaurant suggestions. Local enough for food and drink top ups but far enough away from it all to completely relax. We will be booking again!
