About LYNDA MOSS
I suppose you could say that I needed a change, so I came to Dolo, fell in love with the property and the area, and haven't looked back since! I arrived in 2007 and count myself as being very lucky. I have the peace and tranquillity of the countryside and then, throughout the summer months, there is a wealth of local entertainment and festivities. So much so that I have to keep a diary to make sure that I don't miss the events and I haven't had to do that since the children were growing up! The festivals are very colourful and traditional and are an integral part of life in Brittany. The area is also extremely popular with ramblers and for those who enjoy cycling and fishing. In fact there is something here for everyone!
LYNDA MOSS purchased this House in 2007
Why LYNDA MOSS chose Jugon-Les-Lacs Commune Nouvelle
Dolo is easily accessible, the double carriageways link all the main towns. The airport at Dinard, and the ferry at St Malo are only 50 mins away. I'm surrounded by farming countryside, cereal crops, mainly barley, maize and rapeseed. A 5 minute walk, past a small lake, takes you into Dolo itself with the essential french bakery, bar and restaurant It's wonderfully quiet and peaceful - heaven on earth when you need a break. On the other hand, if I need entertainment or a bit of culture, then the beautiful medieval city of Dinan, with its half timbered houses, cobbled streets, craft shops, art galleries, restaurants and picturesque port is 20 minutes away, Rennes - the capital of Brittany and Lamballe with the famous Haras (National Stud) are all within easy reach.
What makes this House unique
Jugon Les lacs is 5 minutes away with bars, restaurants and a large lake with water sports and fishing facilities. There's also a heated indoor and outdoor pool with slides etc for the youngsters. The house is 30 mins from the coast which boasts small coves and miles of long sandy beaches, a paradise for all ages. The garden is large and private, surrounded by mature trees, with flowerbeds, shrubs and lawn. There is a good sized orchard and plenty of parking. A good sized above ground swimming pool was added in 2014 and proved very popular with family and guests alike. All this, plus good food and affordable wine - what more could you ask for!! Come and share some of it with me, you will be made most welcome.

Beautiful house lovely grounds and surroundings, the local town and area is worth visiting.
Thank you Linda for the use of your lovely home the end of August. Both families really enjoyed staying at the house and in the area. The pool and grounds are very family friendly. Jugon-les-Lacs is a quaint but beautiful village with plenty to do with a huge lake and lots of activities, there is a smaller lake and children’s play area in Dolo a few minutes from the house. There are a few very very good restaurants in the town but bigger towns are not far away Dinan is about 20mins from Jugon-les-Lacs and definitely worth a visit.
We will be returning highly recommend this beautiful town and property.
Great house, friendly host
We loved this house and grounds. Played a few games of cricket and swam in the pool a few times but unfortunately the weather was against us. Lynda is a fab host, very helpful but also very discreet, would love to come back one day
Peaceful retreat in the countryside
We stayed at Le Chardon for 9 nights at the end of July for our first holiday to Brittany. Lynda only lets her house out during the Summer months, hence why other reviews of the property aren't that recent or frequent. We therefore felt lucky to be able to stay in this lovely cottage. During your stay, Lynda stays in an attached property - not that you would know - this does add some reassurance that should you encounter any difficulties during your stay, there is someone on hand to help. Lynda is most helpful but unobtrusive and works with you to ensure that she is able to maintain the pool and garden during your stay but keen to ensure that she stays out of sight and sound. The booking process and communication prior to our visit was very good. Upon leaving, we felt like we were leaving an old family friend!
The property is in a very peaceful area as described and the garden is lovely to relax in however you do need a car to travel around to make the most of your stay. Dinard airport is only around a 20 minute car journey away and the coast, as well as towns of interest, 20-30 minutes away. The local village is a 5-10 minute walk away and has a creperie/restaurant that we visited one night and a similar car journey away Jugon les Lacs where there are two or three restaurants and a small supermarket for essentials (larger supermarkets are available in Dinan) During our holiday we enjoyed visiting Dinan, St Malo, Rennes, St Cast le Guildo, Bayeaux & the Normandy beaches (a 2 hour drive away), Mont St Michel and Paimpol to name but a few. The roads around the cottage are lovely and quiet, even during the school Summer holidays along with many of the local towns and villages (with the exception of the busier coastal towns).
We were pretty lucky with the weather during our stay so we managed to make use of the pool, whilst we spent a good amount of time travelling around it was nice to be able to pop in it for a dip on our return. The garden is spacious enough for kids to run around and play safely. Plenty of loungers around the pool and a patio/BBQ area.
The house itself is tidy and has everything you will need for your stay and more, including unexpected essentials that we have previously had to buy in other self catering properties such as dishwasher tables, wash powder, loo rolls, washing up liquid, hand wash etc. The Breton biscuits and tart were a lovely touch on arrival too!
We would definitely recommend Le Chardon!
Fantastic cottage in a great location
We had a fantastic holiday , the kids loved the pool
Thanks John - yes it's a great location and within easy reach of the wonderful beaches as well as having plenty to do nearby. The pool has been a huge success this year and been enjoyed by children and adults too!
Thanks for the fabulous drawing of the house, had I known that you were so talented I would have got you to do the gardens as well!
Would love to see you all return for another holiday at Le Chardon.
Lovely cottage in a peaceful and charming part of France. Fantastic host always there to help you!
Excellent house and massive garden with beautiful fruit trees and various areas for kids to explore. Nice little village a short drive away.
Thanks Simon. I was so pleased that you managed to visit the medieval town of Dinan with its wonderful old buildings and cobbled streets. It was great listening to you both enthuse about the house, garden and surrounding area. We sometimes forget that we are very lucky to live here, so thanks for the reminder!
Don't be too long before you come back to experience the good old fashioned hospitality of Brittany.
Charming holiday home in lovely surroundings- great for families
We had a lovely stay in this quiet countryside property, surrounded by farms, with spacious, beautiful and well maintained gardens.
The house is clean, tidy and well equipped for 6+2, with two bedrooms on the first floor and a large family loft room with ensuite on the second floor, ideal for families with children who are old enough to climb the wooden staircase independently.
The weather was not quite warm enough to use the swimming pool; however, we took lots of trips into the surrounding area and to the nearby beaches, towns and castles. There is so much to see around here!
The property is also within easy walking distance of Dolo village with a wake park, lake and playground. The children (aged 1 and 6) had a great time playing on the swings, in the sandpit and Wendy house in the garden and flying their kites in the nearby field.
Would highly recommend for families visiting Brittany for a relaxing holiday and to enjoy the French culture and lifestyle. Many thanks, Lynda!
I'm so pleased that you found plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. It is a wonderful place for families, something for everyone, rain or shine.
I very much hope that you will all come back to Le Chardon again to sample the culture and lifestyle in Brittany.
You will be made most welcome
Le Chardon is in an idyllic location being only 5 mins from boating lakes at Jugon Les Lacs where you can enjoy numerous activities on land and water, including sailing, canoeing, wind surfing, hiking, mountain biking, archery, mini golf and fishing. On top of all this we now have a fabulous new heated outdoor pool with flume and paddling pool for the toddlers, plus an indoor heated pool and play area with 5 flumes and water games. 3 minutes down the lane from Le Chardon there is a lovely fishing lake, ideal for walking or running. There you will find a climbing frame for the youngsters and zip wire for the older children. The medieval town of Dinan just has to be explored. Only 20 mins away and one of the most visited places in Brittany. Steeped in history (castle with ramparts, cobbled streets, picturesque port with boat trips along to St Malo, 12th century timbered houses, bars and restaurants.) Full of charm and character. You will be within easy travelling distance of the beautiful Brittany coastline with it's numerous beaches and coves. Wonderful scenery, miles of golden sands and charming villages.. Lamballe is the home of the National Stud (Haras) The walled town of St Malo and the smaller Moncontour are worth seeing too. The medieval castle Hunaudaye, with it's wonderful exhibitions, bring the castle to life for young and old and is about 15 mins away. If Golf is your passion, then you will find courses at Pléneuf Val André, Fréhel, St Cast le Guildo to name just a few. I always recommend that my guests visit Mont St Michel, altho it's in Manche but it's only 1hr 45mins away, its worth the effort! There are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area, castles, forts, markets, restaurants, bars, art exhibitions, theatre, festivals in the square at Jugon Les Lacs and in surrounding towns with music, dancing and food. The list is endless and we have a friendly tourist information office in Jugon to help you get the most from your holiday.
