Park Farm has only been available on the rental market since August 2013. Over three hundred years old and retaining many original features, it has been renovated to a very high standard. With oodles of charm you will find countless interesting features in this charming old property including the carved name & date of a previous owner in a flagstone dated the 1800s. The upstairs Master Ensuite bathroom with its vaulted ceiling, was the original loft of a Cider barn attached to the farmhouse and there are a wealth of wonderful beams around the house. There is ample space to spread out in Park Farm with three sitting rooms - which works well when different generations holiday or weekend together! In the Library/music room, you will find a baby grand piano for your enjoyment and an eclectic range of literature (many books with hard covers) to keep you entertained. The dining room has a wooden floor and large inglenook fireplace with inset log burner for cosy winter dinners. The large dining tables seats up to 14 and beautiful Argentian prints on the walls set a very elegant scene. A further sitting room with Inglenook and another log burner offers comfortable sofas and original flagstone floors with exotic Afghan rugs and the final sitting room with 42" Flat screen TV doubles up as a playroom where children can play next door to the adults. There are a wide range of toys & games, DVDs, CDs and videos as well as table football for your enjoyment. Two bedrooms have super king size beds, and our mattresses are so good that one guest went home and ordered the very same mattress straight away! The superb farmhouse kitchen definitely provokes gasps on entry as it looks like something out of Homes and Gardens. There is a four oven electric Aga, and a separate double electric oven and electric hob. The kitchen is well equipped and includes such items as food processor, hand blender, scales, whisks, great range of pots and pans, Le Creuset casserole dishes, white lasagne and pie dishes, filter coffee machine, cafetieres, teapots, cups and saucers as well as mugs and plenty of utensils and cutlery. Off the kitchen is a Utility room with washing machine, clothes airer, freezer and a downstairs WC and wash-handbasin. You can leave boots and coats in this room. The gardens around the house offer attractively walled borders of flowers and shrubs all year round and there are panoramic views from the front windows and lawns extend miles across the Somerset Levels. From the back of the house is a private outside dining and sitting area with garden furniture. Your views from here are of the woods behind the farmhouse where we often spy Peregrine falcons and birds of prey hunting. Park Farm is an idyllic and peaceful location, yet within minutes of the bustling County towns of Somerton & Langport. Somerton is allegedly the original Capital of the County of Wessex. Both towns offer restaurants, pubs, shops and some beautiful architecture. Park Farm has a private hard tennis court for your use, croquet lawn with all the kit, swings, go karts and an electric tractor for the under 5s. Park Farm is not the house for you if you are looking for a "party" house or are looking for a weekend "rave" - we are unable to take mixed sex groups under 40 nor stag parties. We welcome bridal parties marrying locally, family reunions or significant birthday weekends, hen parties and mature groups. There is plenty to do at Park Farm including a circular track for a really good woodland walk and if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, you can also walk across another field from the woods and amble down a lane or two to the Half Way Public House for a really delicious glass of Cider! Within 25 minutes of the Cathedral City of Wells, and only 15 minutes from the town of Glastonbury with Langport closeby, Park Farm is well placed for many interesting day trips. We are able to arrange a Spa company to come in and provide Indian Head Massage, Manicures and Pedicures and a wide range of beauty treatments in the comfort of the nearby Barn or else you could enjoy a morning of activities at a nearby studio where you can make cards, jewellery etc (popular with our Hens). We have an In-House Chef who can cook you a superb dinner party from £28 per head or drop off a wide range of "ready to cook" dishes to add to your restful experience.
I flew as cabin crew for British Airways for 12 years and have subsequently been involved in a string of property developments. My husband, John, was in the British Army for 37 years & is the man every woman needs in her life: fabulous husband, handyman, gardener, builder - the list is endless! He plays a hugely supporting role in the daily management of the farmhouse. We both love music, old houses, gardening, renovations and are passionate about the farmhouse and the ancient coppiced woodland behind & its conservation. We feel hugely privileged to be the custodian of such a wonderful old house. Our aim continues to be providing all our guests with an enjoyable and memorable time at Park Farm starting with a warm and friendly welcome to leaving "happy"! One couple (former guests) who married her last Summer are now dear friends and we are looking forward to another wedding here next August - although weddings are limited to one per year!
Franceska Neeve purchased this farmhouse in 2005
We both landed in Somerset but now feel it is very much our home. There is something ethereal about this ancient area and the history is enormous. The Battle of Langport was fought very close by in bygone days and there is much history to read about the ancient folk that lived on the Levels who travelled in dug out canoes between the islands that are now the villages of Othery, Middlezoy and Weston Zoyland. There are some wonderful sights nearby from Wells Cathedral to the Hanging Chapel in Langport and also closeby Muchelney Abbey. It is alleged that pilgrims walking from Muchelney to Glastonbury stopped here at Park Farm for refreshment which, in those days was a wooden mug of cider by all accounts! These days, the house still offers travellers hospitality.
Idyllic location, peace and quiet, charm and style are yours for a weekend away. Sweeping lawns including croquet lawn and tennis court and set in 40 acres of its own fields and woods. Hot tub (from mid September 2016) - Idyllic peaceful, hillside location with far reaching views for miles. The house, although set in this peaceful location is only 1.8 miles from nearby Somerton with its pubs, shops and restaurants and Langport is only a few miles away too with a Tesco supermarket, shops and restaurants. We are blessed with wonderful butchers both in Somerton and Langport. From the house you can walk or cycle for miles. There are many long walks from the house for as far as the eye can see and if you wish to roam the private woods behind the house, these are yours exclusively (well you may be accompanied by our dog) if you wish! Park Farm is truly a unique and wonderfully restful place to visit.
Guests who have just left today have commented on how much they loved staying in the house with all the space it offers (3 receptions rooms allowing everyone space to do their various things).
If you look at trip advisor you will find that we were awarded an Award for Excellence and now have 30 out of 30 Excellents. See our website for up to date reviews.
Charming welcome - detailed pre-arrival information of everything one could possibly need to know - lovely welcome food basket - house exactly as shown - superb and massive master bedroom suite with wonderful views - large and extremely cosy kitchen with an Aga - log fires were a great hit with everyone - lots of space and different areas downstairs - grand and spacious dining room - hot tub was fantastic (we spent a lot of time in after dinner even though it was freezing!) - very peaceful location with lovely views and the woods behind the house.
Park Farm is a magical place and wonderful retreat! We feel in love with its charm, luxury farm house feel and the owners John and Franceska instantly, so much so we held our wedding there!!
The woods, the fields, the beautiful views, the windy country lanes all give you that instant feeling of escape, yet the local village is a 5 minute drive with all amenities and some fantastic pubs and eateries.
The Farm itself is a beautiful building which Franceska has expertly and sensitively renovated, maintaining all the original features yet enhancing them with a modern yet cosy feeling. You can curl up in the snug to one of the hundreds of DVDs or board games or the sitting room with a roaring fire, or the piano room with a good book. The dining room is large and feels rather regal, perfect for large dinners or a Sunday roast with the family. The kitchen is the heart of the home, with all the mod cons and a beautiful aga. We spent hours in the kitchen writing table plans, place names and other DIY crafts for our wedding, it is so light and inviting. The master suite is a real treat, a huge room and even bigger bed, possibly the comfiest I have ever slept in (handy the night before your wedding!) with a luxury en suite with free standing bath and changing room, with more than ample space for 6 bridesmaids and the bride to get ready. The other double bedrooms are great sizes, as is the attic bedroom where we housed our ushers, I could imagine kids would love this bedroom as it is separate from the others and reminded me of adventures of The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe.
The garden, grounds, woods and drive are beautiful and very well kept, with beautiful flowers attracting lots of nature, my Dad is a keen bird watcher so they kept him entertained.
We had our wedding ceremony on the lawn in front of the Farm overlooking the Somerset levels, the perfect setting! All our guests commented on how beautiful the setting and Farm was and the pictures are simply wonderful.
John & Franceska are wonderful people, they bent over backwards for us, made us feel at home and made our stay and wedding truly memorable. We have already booked to return to fill the Farm with our family in May and I imagine it will become an annual trip.
We couldn’t recommend Park Farm more highly. It is the perfect retreat for families or groups of couples looking for a country get-away!!
Our family of 14, which included eight adults, two babies and four children under 7, spent a most enjoyable Christmas week at Park Farm West. The house is delightful: warm, comfortable and very good for children with swings in the garden, games and puzzles galore, lovely walks all around. In the house there is plenty of space for those who wanted a bit of peace and quiet in one of the three sitting room areas and the children. We were welcomed with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and a hamper of good things. It lived up to all my expectations and more!
When three new grandchildren arrived in the last year we decided to hold a three generational family gathering and looked for somewhere 14 humans and two dogs could be accommodated in some comfort and there would be something for everyone.Park Farm proved to be perfect and the family ( of all ages ) really enjoyed themselves. Very comfortable bedrooms and ample sitting rooms for all, tennis, walking, cycling luxury dining both. home created and externally delivered made the holiday ,which included a gold wedding anniversary,a truly memorable occasion..The owners,John and Franceska have gone to a deal of trouble to make it feel a really comfortable home and the younger children particularly enjoyed the electric tractor!
A five star location.
