About Trish Foote
We lived at Limekiln for sixteen years. We are based in the area and enjoy travelling around the UK. We often stay at Limekiln when it is not in use to get together with family and friends and to carry out or supervise maintenance work. We enjoy the uniquely friendly local community and the village pub, The Sailors Return, where we catch up with friends. Limekiln House is a true home from home for visitors and guests. Limekiln retains all the ornaments, pictures and facilities that make a house a home. It hasn't been stripped-down in any way and we're sure you'll feel relaxed and at home as soon as you arrive.
Trish Foote purchased this House in 1999
Why Trish Foote chose Chaldon Herring
We lived in Lulworth for fifteen years and found Limekiln House by chance. We loved the location, atmosphere and outlook. The owner was a lovely lady called Petal Allen who had been an actress in the 30's. As soon as we said we'd like to buy the house, she took it off the market on trust and said she wanted us to have it. We spent many wonderful, happy years there. Our children had all left home by 2012 and we decided to move into somewhere smaller but to still retain the house for family and friends' gatherings and holidays. We love the outlook, the peace and quiet and the country walks to the coast and Lulworth Cove through the delightful grassy valleys. We think that visitors will enjoy the peace and quiet, the facilities and the rural outlook, as well as the location which is ideal for exploring coastal Dorset.
What makes this House unique
Well-equipped and comfortable, making this a true home from home. Direct access to the countryside and coast, the absence of traffic and neighbours and the peace and quiet make Limekiln unique in this busy seasonal tourist area. The location offers easy access to all of Dorset from the A354 and locally to Lulworth Cove, the Tank Museum, Monkey World, the Purbecks and Hardy's Dorset. Ideally placed for day trips to Bournemouth, Poole, Swanage, Weymouth, Dorchester, Portland, Abbotsbury Swannery and Lyme Regis.

Our New Year’s Eve stay.
Lovely warm cosy house, plenty of space. Our only gripe was a little more attention to cleaning I.e. down side of sofa near bookshelf. Lots of dust and cobwebs. Also we had to clean some pots and pans before using. But overall a very comfortable stay.
Sorry to hear about the cleaning issues, our apologies. We'll ensure that these points are brought to the attention of the cleaning company.
Had a wonderful time.
Thoroughly enjoyed our family trip. Lovely big kitchen which was great for chatting while making Christmas lunch. Owners very responsive to our pre stay questions and all perfect. Thank u
Thank you for your review and so pleased that you had an enjoyable stay.
And thank you again for leaving the house so clean and tidy!
Happy New Year to you all!
Autumn break in the countryside
A lovely spacious house, very comfortable for a large group with plenty of kitchen and dining equipment. Great to have so many bathrooms too. The house is set in a spacious garden surrounded by panoramic views of the countryside. There are good walks on the doorstep, for example to Durdle Door and a shop a short drive away. It’s easy to arrange a supermarket delivery. The owners respond quickly to any queries. We’d like to return at another time of year and take advantage of the outside seating area and garden.
Thank you for your review and for leaving the house in immaculate condition.
We'd be delighted to have you return. Sorry about the weather!

Perfect Family Break Away
Limekiln House was perfect. The sitting room is almost divided into two which was great so that some could chill & watch TV & others could play games. The kitchen is very well equipped & had everything you could ever need whilst away & had a cupboard & drawer full of plastic items for children which worked perfectly as we had 4 with us. The Rangemaster took some getting used to but we figured it out in the end.
All rooms were clean & tidy & of great size.
People complain about the flies, there were a few but it wasn't too bad unless you left the door open & in a cold October, you won't be doing that.
It was slightly confusing getting to the property but once you know it you no longer need a Sat Nav.
5 minutes from Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove, around 30 minutes from Weymouth & a great 15 minutes from Monkey World.
The road leading up to the property is quite bumpy & is definitely more of a track, but our cars coped well as all are SUVs.
Overall great stay at Limekiln & we wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you Trish & Rob.
Thank you Kayleigh for your comments. The access farm track is a bit bumpy in places but not a problem so far to us, our staff or the postman's van. We're expecting the farmers to work on it before Christmas.
There haven't been any problems with flies since we installed the zapper and the fly-screen. The fly-screen on the back door had been taken down by the previous guests so we assumed it was not needed. We'll put it back up just in case!
We normally send out directions to find the house, sorry if we omitted these.
Many thanks, Trish and Rob.
Great get away property
A lovely house with beautiful views and walks on its doorstep. The garden is a very special place to relax in the evening sunshine. My dog absolutely loved it.
A very relaxed and friendly pub just a short walk away.
Thank you for your kind comments and for looking after the house so well. We're pleased that you (and your dog!) enjoyed staying at Limekiln.

Great place for a group holiday
We took away a research group, including families, to this wonderful property. The house is great. With bathrooms for each room, and large sociable kitchen, and great outdoor space. And the walks down to the coast are beautiful.
A belated response but thank you for your review!
