About Selina Firth
My husband and I have spent the last three years renovating our cottage in Whitstable and have tried to retain as much of the old character & charm of the cottage as possible. We both love cooking so we have created a bespoke kitchen that is geared around the art of cooking. Whitstable itself has lots of amazing independent shops and restaurants and is a cook's dream as it's easy to get lots of fresh fish and other fresh ingredients to cook with. However, if cooking isn't your thing, the cottage is a charming escape from the stresses of the modern world.
Selina Firth purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Selina Firth chose Whitstable
The cottage is perfect place for family and friends to escape from the busy demands of modern life and is also great for entertaining. A lovely town, full of arty types, and packed with galleries and independent shops. Everything is in walking distance.

Location to die for
Cooks Cottage with 2 seconds to High Street, 2 mins to beach, and 10 seconds to great pub has the best location. Garden is a beautiful sun trap.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay Andrew and hope to have you back again one day. Thank you for the great review. All the best, Selina
A comfy cottage in a great location
We had a great weekend in this cottage. It's centrally located near to shops, pubs and the harbour. We had 2 cars between us and the small street near the centre of town meant that we could only find parking for one but there were a number of car parks near by. The house is bigger than the photos suggest, it's worth knowing that the shower room has a loo so you don't have to go all the way downstairs in the night! The stairs are pretty steep but it's part of the charm of this place. It's great to find somewhere we could bring our dogs without any hassle. Thank you
we loved every minute of our stay here!
had such a good time - the cottage was perfect for us and the two couples we stayed with, it is situated just off the town centre but far enough away not to to woken by any town centre noise - 3 lovely double beds made sure you had a good nights sleep, the cottage is well furnished with the shabby chic look (as shown in the photos) without being overdone, it was lovely and clean and Selina (the owner) had supplied us with enough information to last a couple of weeks instead of the 5 days we were staying - highlights for us was the fantastic record collection and the lovely open fire, the kitchen was well stocked but i have to confess we ate out most of the time - my favs here was the Neptune and the Lobster Shack, good food with a view, we got the bus in to Canterbury (defiantly worth a visit) and generally mooched around a town that has retained lots of those lovely independent shops that most high streets have now lost, I can fully recommend this to others!
Perfect birthday weekend
Six friends came to Whitstable for the weekend to celebrate an important birthday. The cottage was ideally located and equipped - I was especially pleased to find champagne glasses!
We loved the gramophone player and the vinyl records, the old radio and the roll top bath. The beds were so comfortable, and the heating was really efficient.
We hired bikes from the man immediately opposite the cottage and enjoyed a cycle ride to Reculver and back so we deserved our meal at the Sportsman that night.
Weather was glorious for September, and for a first visit to Whitstable, we couldn't have asked for better.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for such a lovely review!
So pleased you enjoyed your stay in Whitstable and in our cottage and glad the weather was good too!
Hope to have you back one day.
we love this house
We stayed at Cooks Cottage to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. We were charmed by this house from the moment we walked through the front door. It has a certain warmth to it and is full of absolute gems . There were 6 of us all adults and 2 lurchers who do like to spread themselves out . it did not feel small at all . In fact the house seemed to wrap itself around us. I would recommend this house to any one visiting Whitstable , and as my daughter has another year at Kent , will definitely be returning. Kirsty was great, a big thanks to her.
We hired this gorgeous cottage primarily so we could have a base for the few days leading up to our daughters wedding at The East Quay. From the time we arrived we knew we were going to have a wonderful week. The key holder Kirsty was there to greet us and she had lit the candles making it look so warm and welcoming. The rooms were lovely, bright and clean and we loved the quirkiness of the décor. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome, as he was everywhere in Whitstable. It is the most dog friendly place we have visited.
Cooks Cottage is ideally placed for all of Whitstable's amenities including the beach and harbour, shops and restaurants, although the homely atmosphere of the Cottage means you can have an equally enjoyable evening at home.
I would definitely recommend Cooks Cottage.
