Great property - ideal base

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property after looking at several online on other sites. the great thing about this property is that you have loads of room. The kitchen is also stocked with all of the equipment and utensils that you could possibly need for your stay. We used it as a base to visit York and Sutton bank and visited nearby Helmsley and Stokesley for food. I also liked the fact that the owners are close by in case you don't have any issues (which we didnt)

Idyllically situated N Yorkshire cottage

  • 5 of 5

A highly recommended very clean well maintained and presented cottage for two people on a working farm in the west of the North Yorkshire National Park. Welcoming, friendly, and attentive but not intrusive owners who enabled us relax and enjoy the barn conversion as a base from which to recharge our batteries and make the most of what was on offer locally. Ideal for Rievaulx Terrace and Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Helmsley with the delights of its castle, walled garden and Duncombe Park. Many local walks and almost too many good eateries from which to choose. We also enjoyed a return visit to The Magpie in Whitby for their superb fish and chips. Hunters deli in Helmsley is not to missed either.

Romantic Christmas

  • 5 of 5

My kids were with my ex, my partners were with hers so we decided to look for a secluded retreat to have a romantic Christmas just the two of us... We could not have made a better choice.

Beautifully situated, secluded with great views, well equipped, warm and very welcoming. Hans and Sandra were perfect hosts in that they left us to ourselves but were there if we needed them. There was a Christmas tree with lights, a card and present waiting for us which was touching. Fresh logs for the wood burner appeared every day. We had everything we needed. At night all we could see were the lights of 3 other farms and a blanket of stars.

On Boxing Day it snowed and the Yorkshire moors turned into a giant magical Christmas card scene. We had spectacular days out and every evening we had our toasty warm home-from-home to come back to. It was so hard to leave but a perfect and relaxing break and as I said at the beginning we couldn't have chosen better. Thank you Hans and Sandra. We are already talking about coming back.
