We own and run Rooms with a View, an interiors shop in Norfolk and love this area after spending a lot of time here. Purchased in 2011, Hollyhock cottage has been completely renovated by ourselves, many of our shop customers have followed the transformation step by step. We have enjoyed using Farrow and Ball paints and gorgeous fabrics from Peony and Sage to create contemporary country style, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! One of the best!!

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't visit without giving praise to such a wonderful place full of charm and personality. Gorgeous calming Farrow and Ball colours throughout, great styling with Emma Bridgewater, Peony and Sage fabrics, Laura Ashley (possibly) leather chair, and Bronte throws. A dash of vintage and coastal treasures. Throw in an impressive kitchen, bathroom, woodburner, a little basket of treats and voila - Hollyhock Cottage. So........ as soon as I unpacked and opened the wine I sent a message to my family - "Moving in.........send clothes!!! Garden perfect size no need to send lawnmower. Icing on the cake .....Waitrose ten minutes in the car!"

We are fortunate to visit Norfolk regularly and out and about our favourites include....

Vernon Arms in Village great scampi/fish & chips takeaway and great dine in menu. Managed to get a

table by eating early - which suited us. Bar can get very busy and sometimes waiting times can be quite long.

HOLT - small town, great independent shops including a department store!!! Food at Byfords, Kings Head Back to the Garden (just outside Holt in Leatheringsett)

CROMER with its old traditional seaside style - food at Upstairs at No.1 was excellent (downstairs just fish and chips). Great sunset for free. Menu is unique. Crab salad superb. Very popular.....best to book.

MUNDESLEY - beach, small village, bucket and spades, few shops, pub

HAPPISBURGH - beach, lighthouse, eroding coastline,

SHERINGHAM - lovely seaside town, lots of coffee stops, food stops, steam railway, pebble beach, interesting museum (lifeboat and history of town)

Further west - BLAKENEY QUAY, BURNHAM MARKET, WELLS NEXT THE SEA, HOLKHAM, THORNHAM, BRANCASTER STAITHE/QUAY and last but not least HUNSTANTON.

New Year Stat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this cottage for new year and were delighted as soon as we arrived - it's a beautiful cottage, clean, well maintained, furnished to a high standard and there was even a bottle of fizz to help us celebrate new year!

The bed was extremely comfy, the freestanding bath is beautiful! It is well located for walks to the Gunton Arms and Vernon Arms.

We enjoyed the open fire and comfy sofas and a well kitted out kitchen - a home from home!

It was an extra special stay for us as we got engaged at New Year so we hope one day to be back

Hollyhock Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cottage, situated in a quiet location. The Cottage was very comfortable, with all features exactly as advertised - the bed was exceptionally comfortable - making getting-up early in the mornings, a little difficult. The log fire just lovely to get back to, after a good walk along one of the many nearby sandy beaches.

The location was ideal for visiting Cromer, Sheringham for the Steam Train to Holt; getting the train into Norwich, from the local station Gunton, and a ride on the Bure Valley Railway.

Highly recommended Cottage for a relaxing break !

Lovely cottage in the Country

  • 5 of 5

It was a pleasure to stay in such a lovely cottage for the weekend. The owners have done a fabulous job renovating the cottage and furnishing it with excellent quality goods and fabrics. The interior design and individual touches made the cottage a wonderful place to unwind and relax. The cottage is just outside the village with some nice walks direct from the property. There are a couple of excellent pub/restaurants within a 5 minute drive of the cottage and the nearest beach is about 3 miles away. The owners provided lots of useful information and an excellent service to us as weekend guests. We would strongly recommend this cottage to any couple wanting to escape to the country and relax in well maintained quality accommodation.
