About Samantha Smith

Hi, my name is Samantha and I own 4 holiday homes with my mum, dad and brothers. I live in Morpeth Northumberland with my husband and 2 boys.

We have Shepherds Cottage, The Bothy in the Garden and our new one is Benthall House Ref: E17847

We are very fortunate as we are only 40 minutes from the cottages and love to stay there when we get the chance.

Samantha Smith purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Samantha Smith chose Beadnell

We bought the properties as we love the Northumberland coasline and all it has to offer.

Shepherds Cottage, The Bothy and Shepherds Lodge are situated on the outskirts of the village and they have their own private garden areas with views to the sea and the Cheviots, whilst Benthall House is on the seafront with fantastic sea views and walking distance to the beach

They are ideal holiday homes to get away from it all.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottages are in a fabulous location and are an ideal base if you love watersports or walking. You are near to Alnwick and Berwick towns as well as the fantastic coastline which includes Holy Island.

Shepherds Cottage has a fully kitted out games room with pool table, full size snooker table, table tennis, dart boards and Nintendo Wii. In the garden, next to the games room is a BBQ hut for all year round BBQ's.

Benthall house is a minutes walk from Beadnell Bay and across the road there is a great rock pooling beach. Great sea views from the lounge

Fab Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Shepherds Cottage. There were 10 of us in total but not all at the same time some family could only get a few days whilst others had to leave early. The house was great and catered for all ages. The lads spent time in the games room which was well equipped whilst the older ones chilled in the conservatory or lounge. We ate in most of the time and the kitchen had everything needed to cook large meals whilst the conservatory was a lovely place to enjoy our meal together. Just a short walk to the village where we spent some time in the beer garden of the Craster Arms and had a go at pub quiz. The weather was good during our stay (15 mins walk from the beach) so we spent time sitting out in the patio and had a few gatherings around the fire pit in the evening. Its the ideal place to have a family get together, wonderful house, also the special touches like home made chocolate cake and dog treats were well received. We hope to stay again!

Lived well up to expectations and beyond! This short stay was just part one of my 80th birthday celebrations, as we shall be back again for a week in September when my son and his family will be joining us from Bermuda.

Approaching the "cottage" is deceptive, as once you are inside it is amazingly spacious. There were only six of us on this occasion, but even when fully occupied there is plenty of room both for everyone to get together and for each to find a quiet spot when needed. Sam and her family have created a wonderful holiday retreat with everything you could possibly wish for, and a perfect base from which to enjoy this magnificent county.

So much has been said by others who have stayed here it is difficult to find anything more to say. Everything about our visit was absolutely faultless and September can not come soon enough!

The property was excellent, very clean, with everything provided for a family holiday..

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, very clean and ideal for celebrating my 70th birthday with all the family.

Everything we needed was provided with the decorations, cake, wine & dog "treats"

provided by the owners on our arrival making us feel very welcome.

The cottage was very spacious which allowed the grandchildren to play but still provided "quiet " areas for the others.

The large enclosed garden & patio area provided an ideal place to sit out, enjoy the weather, which was kind to us, while watching the grandchildren run around & play.

The games room & BBQ hut, which were both very well used, are both excellent additions.

Sam, thank you for a lovely holiday in your cottage and hope we can return soon.

Great house with superb facilities and owners who go several extra miles.

  • 5 of 5

We were 2 families sharing Shepherds Cottage for a sunny (but very windy!) week in Beadnell. The house is great, very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owners took every care to make our stay extra special (including hand made treats for our guinea pig!) and there was nothing we lacked. The house has superb gardens a brilliantly equipped games room and a really enjoyable BBQ house that gave us many meals. Close to Beadnell (15 min walk in for the pubs and restaurant, 2 mins in the car) and the great beach. Can't recommend this place enough. We will be back!

Shepherd's Lodge - a perfect base to explore

  • 5 of 5

The lodge is ideally situated just outside Beadnell, placing you in the heart of the coastal route and all the breath-taking sandy beaches and historic attractions.

The lodge is wonderfully placed, surrounded by fields (complete with little lambs during our stay) and sea views that you can never tire from.

It is spacious, light and airy and decorated/furnished to a high-standard. All three bedrooms are comfortable and a good size, so no haggling between the children needed! There's everything you could possibly need in fact, making it a relaxing home from home.

The owners were most accommodating and generously left a welcome pack complete with a bottle of wine, delicious homemade cake, dog treats and a basket of Easter gifts for our girls.

Together with our dog, who has been equally happy here. We will definitely be back!
