Hi, my name is Samantha and I own 4 holiday homes with my mum, dad and brothers. I live in Morpeth Northumberland with my husband and 2 boys.
We have Shepherds Cottage, The Bothy in the Garden and our new one is Benthall House Ref: E17847
We are very fortunate as we are only 40 minutes from the cottages and love to stay there when we get the chance.
Samantha Smith purchased this cottage in 2013
We bought the properties as we love the Northumberland coasline and all it has to offer.
Shepherds Cottage, The Bothy and Shepherds Lodge are situated on the outskirts of the village and they have their own private garden areas with views to the sea and the Cheviots, whilst Benthall House is on the seafront with fantastic sea views and walking distance to the beach
They are ideal holiday homes to get away from it all.
The cottages are in a fabulous location and are an ideal base if you love watersports or walking. You are near to Alnwick and Berwick towns as well as the fantastic coastline which includes Holy Island.
Shepherds Cottage has a fully kitted out games room with pool table, full size snooker table, table tennis, dart boards and Nintendo Wii. In the garden, next to the games room is a BBQ hut for all year round BBQ's.
Benthall house is a minutes walk from Beadnell Bay and across the road there is a great rock pooling beach. Great sea views from the lounge
'A great holiday was had by all. Northumberland is a fab place, the Farne Island and Holy Island are places not to be missed. We look forward to returning and thanks for having us'
'a fantastic week, weather couldn't have been better. We loved the Bothy, very relaxing and peaceful. Greatly appreciated the warm welcome from Lilian and Brian
'It was perfect!'
The cottage certainly lived up to its description with loads of space, all en suite bedrooms and a huge sun room where one can sit fourteen for dinner. The kitchen can also be used for meals with the Aga making it a very cosy room.
The games room is enormous and fully equipped with everything you need to entertain the children and the adults alike. The icing on the cake is the BBQ building where we enjoyed a meal in great comfort.
The nearby village has a friendly pub, a very good restaurant and a cafe which served lovely food. There are some great walks in the surrounding area.
Any small problems at the cottage were quickly resolved by the owners and I would recommend the venue without hesitation.
We hired shepherd's cottage and shepherd's lodge as a surprise getaway for all the family for my mams 60th birthday. We were amazed and delighted by this wonderful cottage. We had 10 people in the main cottage and 6 in the lodge but we used the cottage's cozy kitchen as our main base, the aga was fantastic for keeping us warm on a cold winter weekend. There's plenty of space in the cottage yet it still manged to feel snug and cozy. The games room was amazing and all ages were catered for. The cottage had everything we needed you can tell a lot of thought has gone into furnishing it, from dog beds to cricket sets there wasn't anything missing. The welcome gift of a homemade cake, bottle of wine and doggy treats was a lovely touch. We can't wait to go back.
We had a great weekend in this fab cottage. More than enough space for 8 of us and great facilities. Everything you could wish for was provided, including a delicious cake! Lovely local area to explore but if the weather hadn't been so mild we could have quite happily spent more time in the property, especially the games room and BBQ hut! I would recommend this property for anyone considering it (and already have!).
We had a lovely stay at Shepherd's Cottage. We holidayed with our children, two sets of retired parents and our dog. The cottage is well furnished and very comfortable, we were welcomed on arrival and the cottage really felt like home from home. The space in the cottage was great, there was plenty of space for our family to relax and spend time together and enough rooms for us take time away if we needed it! The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed using an Aga for the first time, it also kept the kitchen lovely and warm. The games room and barbecue hut were great additions and we spent lots of time in both. The garden is well maintained and fully enclosed so it was safe for both our children and dog. We've made several visits to this area and this was the nicest place we have stayed in. It's a lovely cottage and we felt like welcome guests.
We were a group of 4 families, we took over the cottage and lodge and had a fantastic, sun-baked weekend. The cottage is vast, homely with a querky style , the games room entertained the 11 children ( aged 10-17) and the BBQ hut was straight out of Hogwarts. The conservatory housed us all for dinner and the Aga in the kitchen warmed us after our adventures in the sea ( contact Kevin on the beach in Beadnell for all manner of water activities). The lodge was a cool beach-house/ski-chalet style and a great suntrap. This place comes highly recommended, we had a great time and I haven't even mentioned the cake and wine on arrival!
Loved it!!! We used it to get our families together and it was perfect. The rooms are all a brilliant size so you can have your own space if needed. Kids loved the games room and we only saw them when they were hungry! Brilliant huge garden. Little extras like the cake, wine etc were really nice touches. Would def go back. Walking distance from a couple of pubs and the beach is very close too. My only thing I would say is some rooms were hard to get warm while others got really hot! I'm guessing its something to do with the size of the property. Thanks for an amazing stay.
