The Griffiths family consists of two adults and a son at university and a thirteen-year old daughter. We bought the barns in 2000 when the barns and land were still as they had been when used for dairy farming. Richard is an architect (Richard Griffiths Architects) and had always wanted a property in Suffolk, as he had been coming here regularly for twenty years and loved it. In 2001 we converted the barns and developed the land into a relaxed, wild meadow with sitting and play areas. We still use the barns ourselves for our own holidays and our children have grown up holidaying regularly here. So it really does feel like a "home from home".
Penelope Roskell-Griffiths purchased this barn in 2000

The accommodation comprises two units in a converted barn at the end of a long farm lane. It has the most amazing views from two large glass doors on either side. The internal space is well designed and I particularly appreciated the large dining table for working at. The furnishings are slightly 'tired' but perfectly adequate and comfortable. The only slight issue is that sound travels between the two units, but fortunately this was not a problem in my case because the other residents (and their children) were out most of the day. There is a nice walk from the barn down to the marshes. I would certainly go back there if it was available at the time.
Special interest holidays:
Many serious ornithologists come here to observe the rare birds from the windows of Whitehouse Barns. The site is recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the variety of resident and visiting birds.
