About John Henderson

I have lived in this beautiful area for over forty years. I was Resident Agent on the Croome Estate which has the National Trust Capability Brown Landscaped Park and Court of Croome at its centre.

John Henderson purchased this cottage in 1989

Why John Henderson chose Worcester

My late wife and I purchased and converted our barn and the adjoining byre, as we had already lived in the area for 19 years.

The tranquil surroundings and magnificent views across the River Severn to the Malverns are a delight and all this within easy reach of the M.5 and M.50 giving scope to see the Midlands, Cotswolds and rural Herefordshire.

What makes this cottage unique

The delightful countryside with its long distance walks, the nearby River Severn, Jazz and regatta week-ends at Upton upon Severn, music festivals (Three Choirs in Worcester), literary, music and science in Cheltenham and national garden and agricultural shows at the Royal Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern. There are important tourist attractions in Worcester (8 miles), Tewkesbury ( 5 miles) and Malvern 10 miles) and Pershore (6 miles) is the home of the Royal Horticultural Society, based at the Horicultural College.

The property is also on the threshold of the Cotswolds.

A lovely cosy cottage. A warm welcome from John. The cottage was more than we expected. Very clean . Amazing bed! So big and so comfortable. Plenty of places to visit in close proximity. Upton on Severn ,Tewkesbury to name just two. The local pub The Rose and Crown just a walk away. Very dog friendly and excellent food. Would highly recommend .

Dog friendly studio, warm and comfortable in lovely setting with walks from front door.

Had a 3 night break with our dog and all felt at home here. Warm welcome from owner John and nice touch of complementary bottles of wine went down well after a long walk. Lovely area, visited National Trust properties Croome and Hanbury Hall which are both close by. Went for a meal at local pub, within walking distance, which was very dog friendly too.

A delightful conversion property.

  • 5 of 5

The beautiful property was a surprise to us. Very clean and well presented with quality comfortable furnishings making it very warm and cosy with beautiful paintings on the walls. It is situated in a large park garden which has rabbits and squirrels. John, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. Our dog enjoyed his walks in the lane past fields of horses.

The local pub in the village serves very good meals.

We can thoroughly recommend this property for a quiet holiday.

John welcomed us to his beautiful property on our arrival. Molly our lab was allowed the run of his amazing gardens and thoroughly enjoyed her first holiday away from home. Lovely little pub close by, very dog friendly and we enjoyed lunch and dinners there after long walks along the Severn way which ran along the back of the main house.

Really enjoyed our 2 night relaxing stay and will certainly be looking to stay again!

Thank you again John

Our very enjoyable stay at the Studio, Severn Stoke

  • 5 of 5

Refreshingly, the property was exactly as described and our hosts, John & Cara Henderson, were most pleasant and helpful. Situated in the grounds of their house in a secluded rural location, the property was easy to find, with lovely views of the Malvern Hills from the grounds, and within walking distance of the village facilities, including a pub that provided basic fare. Worcester, Malvern and Tewkesbury were easily accessible by road which made life easy for us as our son was taking part in the 3 Choirs Festival the week we stayed.

The property itself was good value. It was well resourced and maintained with adequate space, along the lines of a studio flat, and a large comfortable bed, TV and internet access (not too bad for the rural location) and rudimentary cooking facilities adequate for most needs. Although we do not have dogs, the property is clearly dog friendly, and the Hendersons have a lovely well trained dog who greeted us every morning and afternoon, upon our return to the property.

Thank you, John & Cara. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and hope to be back again if our travels take us to the area.
