Cottage in Richmond, Yorkshire, England - Set in its own acre of landscaped rural plot, Rose Cottage offers total peace and tranquillity

Rose Cottage is over 100 metres from its nearest neighbours, offering a feeling of total privacy and tranquility, but with the convenience of being less than a ten minute drive from the historic market town of Richmond with all of its facilities and services.

There is next to no traffic outside the cottage as the road only leads to a farm 800 metres away and they use another road to access the main carriageway.

The property and grounds have been completely refurbished to make it beautiful, spotlessly clean, fresh and comfortable with all modern appliances including Bosch and AEG appliances, brand new flat screen TV with DVD player and new fixtures and fittings.

We have a fantastic housekeeper who keeps the cottage in excellent order. We can also offer a babysitting service on request.

About Robert Kearney

My brother and myself are managing this property on behalf of our mother (the house has been in her family since at least 1923) after spending spring/summer 2013 completely renovating the property.

I am married and have two young girls (10&7) who both love coming up to the cottage, especially in 'baby lamb' spring time. We use it ourselves several times a year which allows us to make sure it is kept in pristine condition. We are also keen to keep continually investing in the property to make sure it stays as we like it.

I am a avid road cyclist (I'm the chap on the left, the chap on the right is Maurizio Fondriest the 1988 world champion) and my brother David (in the red top in the picture) is a very experienced mountain biker. If you have any questions about local routes please let us know.

Our grandfather owned the local farm you can see across the hills so we spent large parts of our childhood exploring the local areas.

Why Robert Kearney chose North Yorkshire

The house has been in the family for several generations and had previously been let to long term tenants and used as an agricultural base. At the start of 2013 my mother had decided to refurbish the house and get tenants in again. When my brother and myself saw the property (as we hadn't been for over 15 years) we were stunned by the beauty of the place and decided that we wanted to let it as a holiday home so we could enjoy it ourselves. This also ensures that it stays in the same fantastic condition we have got it back to. As we use it ourselves we are constantly buying new items for the place to keep it in a condition we expect for ourselves. For example this year (2016) we have purchased new kitchen furniture, mattresses and living room furniture as well as replacing all the downstairs windows and front door.

What makes this cottage unique

Being in its own 1 acre plot and surrounded by fields on all sides you get a sense of peacefulness that is amazing. For hours the only noise you hear are the cows, sheep and birds.

The road outside only goes to one farm so there is very little passing traffic. It's close enough to Richmond that if you need the shops they are there but far enough away to get complete calm.

The views from the terrace are beautiful and the house is not overlooked so you get total privacy.

Rose Cottage is a lovely experience, set on the outskirts of a sleepy village with wonderful views over looking the beautiful Yorkshire landscape, the Cottage it self was very clean and bright and got every think you want.

Notes on accommodation: Sorry no pets allowed. No smoking in the house please. Outside: There is a truly stunning newly modelled massive terrace with uninterrupted beautiful views over private garden and fields. The terrace receives the sunshine from late morning until just before sunset. Dining furniture and parasol are provided. There is also a large private grassed lawn. Utility Room: There is a new AEG large load washing machine with a quick wash facility and a Bosch condenser tumble dryer. There is also a sink, air dryer and you will also find an iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is provided and the cottage is cleaned and linen changed once a week. Please bring your own towels. Other: Boot room, off utility room to store wellies, buggies, bikes etc. Multiple off road car parking available on new landscaped driveways.

Fabulous Stay for Christmas!

We stayed here over Christmas this year, it was lovely and cosy, the log fire made us feel really festive and the cottage was warm - the owners even arranged for a tree to be up for our stay which was a lovely touch!

The cottage was clean when we arrived and very well equipped to allow cooking of meals for the 5 of us. The beds were comfy and the shower was really good - plenty of hot water for all of us to have showers in the morning.

I would not hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage for a stay in North Yorks - Five stars!

Beautiful Rural Cottage

Stayed here for my wife's birthday, very relaxing. Perfect place to get away from it all. Go to the Highest Pub in Britain for a beautiful drive and great pub.

In the village of Kirby Hill (a 10-15 mins leisurely walk from Rose Cottage) The Shoulder Of Mutton (a traditional 18th-century inn), stands on the edge of the tiny, picturesque village and enjoys magnificent panoramic views of Holmedale and beyond.

5 mins drive away is Located just off the A66 in North Yorkshire is the Mainsgill family-run Farm Shop and Tea Room. It is a superbly stocked Farm Shop and a paradise for lovers of fresh, locally produced fruit and vegetables, cheeses, award winning home reared and prepared meats, and traditional and complimentary produce.
