Beaches: The beaches in front of the house are made up of little coves so ideal for children.
El Palo and Pedregalejo beaches even though being very close to town have a unique character, they each have their bars and restaurants and both beaches are well maintained., every summer they celebrate the Virgin del Carmen (16th of July), patron saint of the fishermen, they take the Virgin out of her church and out to sea in a boat, while being followed in procession by the fishing boats. You can walk along the beaches of El Palo and Pedregalejo and continue your stroll till the Baños del Carmen and from there to the maritime promenade of Malaga that will lead you to the entrance of the park and from there to the town
Malaga: . Malaga itself is a lovely old town with lots of charm. It has maintained its Spanish character. Apart from a huge cultural offering of concerts and theatres, there are many museums and art galleries, the most famous being the Picasso museum and the Centre of Contemporary Art. Malaga is famous for its tapa bars in the historic centre and its fried fish on the beaches, it also has a fabulous nightlife. You can stay here for months and won´t run out of things to do and places to explore. Granada and Ronda being one hour's drive away
Language Schools: There are many Language schools in the Pedregalejo and El Palo area.
The house is within walking distance of most of them.
We (a family with 3 adult children) had such a good time at Easter 2012 in Barbara’s house at El Palo Beach, Malaga. The house is situated on a small path with no traffic and only some steps from the beach and the promenade. A supermarket and a lot of small shops are only some minutes away. You can go into Malaga City by bus which takes about 15 minutes.
We had a car and have been to a lot of places in Andalucia. The Semana Santa processions werde so impressive.
Even if there was not yet season, at the weekend all restaurants near the house opened and the Malaga residents walked along the promenade and had a good time having lunch with the famous fish dishes from the region, p.ex. sardines prepared on old boats over the grill.
The kitchen is very well equipped with all you need for cooking and with a Spanish cookbook! The living room has got satellite TV and lots of DVDs and books all over the house + Free Wifi !
On the first floor you have got 3 bedrooms with comfortable beds and wardrobes with many blankets, sheets and towels as well as a small bathroom with shower. You will find a second spacious bathroom on the ground floor.
On the second floor you have got a second kitchen which will be so practical for the outdoor season as well as a washing machine! And a very nice terrace with glass for the windy days with a splendid view over the beach and the harbour where you can watch all the different cruise liners coming to Malaga every day. Table and enough chairs for having breakfast or lunch or enjoying the sun on windy days! A lot of plants and nice lights make you feel very comfortable.
You can climb the roof terrace on the top of the house which is just the highlight! Ideal for sunbaths in the deckchair!
One of our best places we have been in the last years with enough space for everybody!
The landlady was very helpful and returned even a forgotten bracelet without charges!
We enjoyed a wonderful week in this charming house. Fantastically situated almost right on the beach. Very clean, cozy, quiet, well equipped and personal. We felt at home immediately! The area, El Palo, appeals to us as it is authentic/not touristy and you can take long, wonderful walks in the Spanish sun along the seaside, enjoy Spanish food at a seaside or local taverna or just soak in the atmosphere. (Plenty of places to buy food if you prefer to cook at home in the amply equipped kitchen.)
Easy access to the local bus into the center when you wish to explore Malaga.
Definitely a place I would recommend. We are already planing another stay there and are very much looking forward to enjoying the house and the fantastic service given by the hostess.
Together with our two adult sons and a daughter in law we spent the Christmas in Barbaras wonderfull house .
The house was just perfect for us with good space and all you wish for making your own food,.
The master bedroom was nice and light as everything in the house was clean and tidy.
We spent a lot of hours reading , drinking coffee and looking at the sea from the roof terrace
The neighbourhood is very charming and calm with a fantastic promenade which leads to Malaga in one direction. It takes about an hour to walk .
In El Palo you find good restaurants, supermarket and a relaxing atmosphere.
The day before departure we walked east to Rincon de la Victoria.
A beautifull walk as near to the sea as possible. In Rincon there are cafes and good restaurants. You can take the bus back.
This visit seems like the beginning of a spanish adventure for us. So much to see and we will certainly come back one day.
Barbara is a very friendly and helpfull landlady.
Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.
We had a very nice week early May 2015. The house was bigger then expected and idealy situated if you want to experience the real Spanish coastal city life. You get all the noises from the daily Spanish life, real Spanish neighboors but also a perfect kids friendly beach and nice restaurants just around the corner. The terrasses are perfect for relaxing and give the needed privacy. The house itself is clean and practical, but not the latest and greatest if you might be looking for that.
House owner arranged taxi from and to airport and was there to assist if needed.
We stayed in this lovely beach house during Easter 2015. We sought a location were we could mingle free among locals, feel free to relax, have easy access to the beach and the beach promenade, local restaurants and food stores, Malaga’s extensive and pleasing offers for tourists as well as its citizens; and other Andalucían hotspots like Granada and La Alhambra. We got it all including a welcoming, generous and kind host. The photos presented on this web site all give an honest presentation of the house. We enthusiastically recommend this beach house.
We (5 adults and 2 small chilren) were in El Palo in August, 2014. And we loved living in Barbara's wonderful house a lot! The things that we liked:
1. The house is big. On the ground floor there are a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. On the first floor - 3 bedrooms, a toilet and a douche. On the second floor - again a kitchen and a beautiful terrace with a dining zone, a canopy swing and many flowers. On the third floor - a terrace without a roof and with a table, chairs and a sun lounger, where you can enjoy the sun during the day and the stars at night and admire a beautiful sea view any time you want)
2. The house is very well equipped. We can't emagine that we need something and can't find it in this house) There are lots of cutlery and crockery, bedcloths and towels, different things for the beach, cleaning the house and so on. WiFi, air conditioners and fans are great pluses.
3. There are many books and DVDs (in English and Spanish). And also - many toys, games and books for children.
4. The house is very cosy and well designed.
5. The house is really very close to the beach, it takes just 1-2 minutes to get there.
6. The house is near the shops, cafes and restaurants. It takes 5 minutes to get to the bus stop and 20-35 minutes to get to the centre of Malaga by bus).
7. Barbara is a wonderful hostess, always ready to help and make you feel comfortable.
All this made us enjoy our rest and feel ourselves like at home!)
Please take note. The area where the house is situated is not really a tourist area so there is not much English spoken.
All the neighbours are very friendly. The waiters in the many restaurants and bars along the sea front do their best to try and understand what you say. Lots of people have great fun trying to explain what they would like to have and sometimes they even get what they ordered!
Malaga centre is not only the perfect place to explore the many historical monuments, atmospheric little streets and squares with delightful café culture, but it is also a wonderful shopping centre. There are buses going into the centre every 8 minutes and after 11.30 at night buses run every 45minutes all through the night
Golf: El Candado Golf course is a 10 minute walk away
Ski: Sierra Nevada in Granada is an hours drive away
