Perfect Easter Holiday in Andalucia
We (a family with 3 adult children) had such a good time at Easter 2012 in Barbara’s house at El Palo Beach, Malaga. The house is situated on a small path with no traffic and only some steps from the beach and the promenade. A supermarket and a lot of small shops are only some minutes away. You can go into Malaga City by bus which takes about 15 minutes.
We had a car and have been to a lot of places in Andalucia. The Semana Santa processions werde so impressive.
Even if there was not yet season, at the weekend all restaurants near the house opened and the Malaga residents walked along the promenade and had a good time having lunch with the famous fish dishes from the region, p.ex. sardines prepared on old boats over the grill.
The kitchen is very well equipped with all you need for cooking and with a Spanish cookbook! The living room has got satellite TV and lots of DVDs and books all over the house + Free Wifi !
On the first floor you have got 3 bedrooms with comfortable beds and wardrobes with many blankets, sheets and towels as well as a small bathroom with shower. You will find a second spacious bathroom on the ground floor.
On the second floor you have got a second kitchen which will be so practical for the outdoor season as well as a washing machine! And a very nice terrace with glass for the windy days with a splendid view over the beach and the harbour where you can watch all the different cruise liners coming to Malaga every day. Table and enough chairs for having breakfast or lunch or enjoying the sun on windy days! A lot of plants and nice lights make you feel very comfortable.
You can climb the roof terrace on the top of the house which is just the highlight! Ideal for sunbaths in the deckchair!
One of our best places we have been in the last years with enough space for everybody!
The landlady was very helpful and returned even a forgotten bracelet without charges!
Comfortable and Relaxing - Fabulous!
The property was perfect for the three of us, not a typical sparse and bland holiday rental but more of a holiday home. It was very well equipped and the outdoor space was fabulous. I only used the downstairs shower but it is the best shower I have ever had on holiday! I drew the long straw and got the master bedroom. You have to walk through the second bedroom to get upstairs but this wasn't a problem for us and the third bedroom is really for children, but again, not a problem. The location was as described and just what we were looking for. There are loads of fantastic fish restaurants, very reasonably priced, nearby but if you're not a fish lover you might find it difficult to find anything suitable on the menus. Malaga is lovely and gave us an excuse to dress up on a couple of evenings and eat lots of tapas. It is easily accessible by bus. I would definitely recommend it, the immediate area is very casual and very Spanish.
Superbly equipped, the owner has thought of everything-even teddy bears awaited my g'children
The property is large and flexible for a large family ; we were 6. It was clean , comfortable and convenient. So, there were 2 bathrooms and given the property had 4 floors there were 2 kitchens. One led on to a veranda, there was an even higher veranda for the real sun worshippers. This latter was a great spot to watch sunsets with a glass of wine. We took most of our meals on the first veranda;,which could be beautifully shaded.
The site is superb , we were literally 2 mins from the sea. El Palo has one of the best beaches : it is sandy and the sea shallow enough for a decent way out and our young g'children were safe there. We went in the Whitsun half term and the beaches were very quiet -apart from Sundays. The area has some decent cafes and restaurants; given it was a fishing village ,sea food is high on the menu.
The owner has several pages of advice for guests. She maps the local supermarkets (small), health centres, bus stops , local markets etc, etc . The owner lives next to the house and whilst not being intrusive , is ready to help when asked.
The house is equipped with everything you need for a family holiday . There is a cupboard full of beach ware . Chairs, umbrellas ,swim tubes ,buckets and spades etc etc ; you wont need to fill your cases with things for the beach.
Elsewhere, there are cupboards full of towels . pillows .duvets etc. There is even a lending library of paperbacks and a kind of oyster card for the local buses. We did not hire a car .Taxis were cheap and buses to Malaga dirt cheap, frequent and took us in comfort the 20 mins the journey took.
I cannot recommend this house and area more . Weather was great .hot but with a lovely sea breeze. We had a wonderful time and the house enabled us to spread out or come together ,particularly on its wonderful veranda. This is a tourist area but mainly a Spanish area: bring a phrase book.
A wonderful home away from home in the sun
We enjoyed a wonderful week in this charming house. Fantastically situated almost right on the beach. Very clean, cozy, quiet, well equipped and personal. We felt at home immediately! The area, El Palo, appeals to us as it is authentic/not touristy and you can take long, wonderful walks in the Spanish sun along the seaside, enjoy Spanish food at a seaside or local taverna or just soak in the atmosphere. (Plenty of places to buy food if you prefer to cook at home in the amply equipped kitchen.)
Easy access to the local bus into the center when you wish to explore Malaga.
Definitely a place I would recommend. We are already planing another stay there and are very much looking forward to enjoying the house and the fantastic service given by the hostess.
Great view and a friendly neighbourhood.
Together with our two adult sons and a daughter in law we spent the Christmas in Barbaras wonderfull house .
The house was just perfect for us with good space and all you wish for making your own food,.
The master bedroom was nice and light as everything in the house was clean and tidy.
We spent a lot of hours reading , drinking coffee and looking at the sea from the roof terrace
The neighbourhood is very charming and calm with a fantastic promenade which leads to Malaga in one direction. It takes about an hour to walk .
In El Palo you find good restaurants, supermarket and a relaxing atmosphere.
The day before departure we walked east to Rincon de la Victoria.
A beautifull walk as near to the sea as possible. In Rincon there are cafes and good restaurants. You can take the bus back.
This visit seems like the beginning of a spanish adventure for us. So much to see and we will certainly come back one day.
Barbara is a very friendly and helpfull landlady.
Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.
Nice and cosy
We had a very nice week early May 2015. The house was bigger then expected and idealy situated if you want to experience the real Spanish coastal city life. You get all the noises from the daily Spanish life, real Spanish neighboors but also a perfect kids friendly beach and nice restaurants just around the corner. The terrasses are perfect for relaxing and give the needed privacy. The house itself is clean and practical, but not the latest and greatest if you might be looking for that.
House owner arranged taxi from and to airport and was there to assist if needed.
Please take note. The area where the house is situated is not really a tourist area so there is not much English spoken. All the neighbours are very friendly. The waiters in the many restaurants and bars along the sea front do their best to try and understand what you say. Lots of people have great fun trying to explain what they would like to have and sometimes they even get what they ordered! Malaga centre is not only the perfect place to explore the many historical monuments, atmospheric little streets and squares with delightful café culture, but it is also a wonderful shopping centre. There are buses going into the centre every 8 minutes and after 11.30 at night buses run every 45minutes all through the night Golf: El Candado Golf course is a 10 minute walk away Ski: Sierra Nevada in Granada is an hours drive away
