Having spent my childhood holidays in Porthcawl the memories brought me back to look for a property with a sea view. We came across this house and were blown away by its location with Newton beach on the doorstep and being so close to Porthcawl Harbour and Town. Such a good base being halfway between Cardiff and Swansea.
Mike purchased this House in 2012
Why Mike chose Porthcawl
The Beach House is set in a mews of 6 houses on a quiet private driveway right on the sand dunes of Newton Beach. Newton beach is a sheltered bay and the walk on the South Wales Glamorgan Heritage Coastline can take you to the pretty village of Merthyr Mawr, Ogmore-by-Sea and Southerndown or, walk along the coastline to Porthcawl town, Rest Bay and walk the boardwalk between the Royal Porthcawl Golf Links and the sea, wonderful sunsets from here.
What makes this House unique
A quiet setting, the beach a 2 minute walk through the sand dunes. Sea views. Sun drenched gardens all day. A very warm and inviting home from home feel. Close to local amenities, a true "Beach House". 10 minute walk or 5 minute drive to Newton Village for local shopping and choice of places to eat or supping a glass or two! The Jolly Sailor being the first Public House to open in Porthcawl in 1818 which also has a very welcoming Restaurant for daytime and evening meals.

Perfect,small property .Beautifully furnished.
This house has been furnished and equipped for the discerning traveller. The owners,Mike and Jackie have obviously put a lot of thought into making this property attractive with small touches that are so welcome. I would recommend The Beach House to anyone who would enjoy a comfortable and delightful holiday home.
We had four magic days there and look forward to returning one day .
Made me homesick!!
Booked as a last minute surprise for (European ) Mother's Day to see my mom who still lives in Porthcawl. I have lived away for many years and am currently living in Brussels.
Mike and Jackie were delightful to work with and responded quickly and made the booking process easy despite living outside UK
Jackie even called me to apologize for not being available to join Mike in greeting us when WE changed our arrival time !! Wow.(And they texted on our first morning to check all was well ...)
Check in was easy, efficient and quick. There are two allocated parking spots. Perfect after a 7 hr car journey. My daughter said Mike wasn't just nice he was genuine ........She is right.
Inside was spotlessly clean and tidy. Thick fluffy white (like a posh hotel) towels a plenty and beach towels too.Tissues, wooden hangers, soap,DVDs ,fully equipped kitchen including: washing up liquid, washing powder, hand soap in kitchen, kitchen roll, foil, tea towels, instant coffee, tea bags trash bags, napkins, toilet paper, cleaning stuff, plastic utensils for beach or kids, heater in conservatory etc! Even fresh milk in fridge and a chilled bottle of white and a welcome message on the fridge.
We have stayed in many VRBO properties in many countries but never in one as thoughtfully and carefully kitted out as this one. You really care about your guests.
It is exactly as it looks in photographs tastefully and recently decorated and very comfortable.
You can see the beach from the master bedroom window and it looks fabulous with the sun shining on it in the morning.
I walked on the beach each morning before breakfast which I almost never do quite that early. Heaven! The weather was gorgeous so I couldn't resist!! Did you guys arrange that too???
It was so lovely to spend 3 nights visiting with my family, catching up, eating Beale's fish and chips, dinner at Isabella's and shopping at McCarthur Glenn, TK Maxx, Marks and Spencer and Cardiff. Miss all that too!!
My astute daughter who has not been back for 8 yrs remarked "Everyone is just so nice here"
She is of course right !
Well I am well and truly homesick now, back in Brussels 4 days.
We'll just have to come back to Porthcawl very soon.
Thanks again Mike and Jackie
Karen, Dominic and Lucy.
Lovely seaside cottage
We had a really nice weekend at the Beach House. It's in a great spot for the beach and the children loved the rock pools at low tide. Everything we needed in the cottage and very clean and tidy - even Easter eggs for the children which were much appreciated! Would definitely return.
Well appointed little house by stunning beach
Had a brilliant stay at this mid terrace house. The sand dunes and beach are on your doorstep which is very natural and beautiful.
The house was in immaculate condition and very well furnished and equipped. The owners communication was excellent, met us on arrival and were very friendly and promptly helpful when required.
Tranquility by the sea
Clean tidy and well equipped in a peaceful yet convenient location
We found the beach house immaculate and fully equipped kitchen for home cooked meals.
The beach house was only 5 min walk to the beach, past sand dunes pebbles to a lovely clean sandy beach. We spent many a time looking for shells etc. Also lots of different sea birds, oyster catchers, redshank, curlew etc. Newton is very well located for places of interest ; Kenfig National Nature Reserve 10min drive, Margham Park 15min drive. Porthcawl 10min, Bridgend 20min. We enjoyed it so much, we stayed an extra 3 days. We also plan to return in the spring. You couldn't ask for better hosts, Jackie and Mike were excellent. Cheers Rob and jo.
