About Julia Gilliot
British owner of the villa for nearly 50 years. Our family built this house in the 60's and we have maintained it with loving care. We benefit from long time relationship with staff for minor, major and emergency repairs.
Julia Gilliot purchased this Villa in 1968
Why Julia Gilliot chose Portobello
Portobello is a very pleasant and friendly community far from the crowds and summer traffic! The natural beauty is breathtaking with the pink granit rock formation of Sardinia against the white cliffs of Bonifacio across the straits. The weather is always perfect with very little rain mostly in winter. There is very little light pollution making stargazing phenomenal!
What makes this Villa unique
The villa is child friendly. Medical clinic on-site. There are 6 granite steps to the villa which limits access for wheelchairs.

Perfect private Villa for Sardinian fun
Villa Busetta is on the norht west coast of Sardinio in portobello which is a gated private community complex with 50-60 villas. It has 2 great beaches that are a nice 4 minute stroll from the villa with crystal clear waters. The villa is fully equipped on one level and it has a great feeling like you are in the middle of the Forrest with the trees and surrounding garden. You have nice sunset views from the verandas and it feels really cool as there is a nice sea breeze in the evening and afternoons. There are nice villages and county side restuarants that you can enjoy really traditional sardinian food and hospitality ( need a car to make the most of these) but the club complex and the restuarant which you can walk to from the villa are also great. The club is fantastic and it seems to be the focus point for the community with bands and dancing most evenings during our stay. It is very friendly to kids and you feel very secure in leaving them to run around in around the villa. Would highly recommend it if you are looking for a nice relaxing escape.
Magical escape with friends
This place was the perfect escape for us and our friends - Everything you could want form a tranquil escape to Sardinia!
The villa was easy to find and extremely well equipped with everything either a large family or a good group of friends would need to relax and get away from it all. A perfect home from home, but with better weather and views to die for. Immaculate kept and very tastefully furnished!

Nice villa close to great beaches
Very nice villa in a closed quiet community. There are 3 bedrooms + a very, very small bedroom with bunk beds. The villa is clean, has plenty of bathrooms, 2 very nice patios. The kitchen needs renovations but is more than ok for a vacation and has plenty of plates, cups, ustensils, glasses, etc. The gaz stove's pressure is low. The owner was very responsive to all the questions we had prior to our arrival. She was very gracious and gave us a tour of the comunity. There are very detailed and useful suggestions for nearby beaches, restaurants, groceries, etc. The wifi connection was very poor but I think this is the case in most of Sardinia. We had better luck with the mobile wifi we rented with the car. The restaurant at the club is very nice and has good food. There are great beaches nearby but you would need a car to get there. The walking distance beach belonging to the community is nice but has rocks and oursins therefore chances to get cut are high if you walk into the water. All recommended agriturismo were great. The grocery located in the complex is small but well stocked. There is a complicated schedule for pick-up garbage ,organic compost and recycling (5 types of recycling, each of it picked only during certain days). We did follow the schedule to put it out, however we were 8 people therefore at the end of our stay, on a Tuesday, there were still sorted bags of recycling and garbage that we could not put out because it was not the right day for pickup. Because of this, our 200 pounds of deposit was not returned. The house was left clean and nothing was broken or in any way damaged. I was certain it is a mistake, however I was told that they had to bring a contractor to get the bags out. Note, there is no place to bring the bags yourself, you just have to wait for the right days to be picked. After more than 35 homeaway rentals, this is the first time the deposit has not been returned to me. In the house's instructions there is even a mention on how convoluted the recycling and garbage system is with final instructions to "do your best and if you can keep up just leave the bags inside".
We had a wonderful time in the villa and a great vacation. I am deeply disappointed that it ended on this bad note.
