Holly-Garth is an individual and superbly equipped 4 stars & Gold Award holiday rental property close to the centre of the popular and pretty market town of Helmsley, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Built in the 1930s, considerably extended and improved to a high standard in recent years, Holly-Garth is a comfortable semi-detached property. Although its position means that you will be close to the centre of things and all that this busy little town has to offer, Holly-Garth is quiet and peaceful, a comfortable home from home. The sheltered and very private courtyard garden at the rear makes it ideal for relaxing summer holidays, while the real log fire and the comfortable interior make for a cosy winter retreat. Children welcome- cot, high chair and stair gates provided. Directly managed by the owners with a local caretaker. Friday Changeover Only. We are pleased to accept payments by credit/debit cards, cheques or online banking. We use Worldpay card-handling and are certified secure by Trustwave. We do not charge for taking card payments.

About Nick and Ann
We are Nick and Ann Gray - the lucky owners of Holly-Garth - we love North Yorkshire, and Helmsley in particular, which has rapidly become a real second home for us. Having stayed in numerous holiday cottages in the UK, we wanted Holly-Garth to have everything that we would wish to find in our perfect holiday rental, and have furnished and equipped it to a very high standard. Nick is a Nottinghamshire farmer, we were both born and brought up on farms and love the countryside and rural way of life. We are both passionate about good food and beautiful scenery, and we enjoy photography, art and visiting historic properties. The area around Helmsley has this in spades

Why Nick and Ann chose Scarborough District
We have both loved North Yorkshire since we were very small. Living in a rural location at home, we wanted a house in a small market town that is fairly quiet and rural, where you can easily walk to the pub or the shops. We love being able to walk into the centre of Helmsley in under 5 minutes - providing us with a choice of shops and places to eat. Beautiful scenery, lots of things to do and friendly locals were also a priority and Helmsley totally fits the bill. We also wanted a house with plenty of off-street parking set on a quiet road, and with private space for sitting outside in nice weather. Another priority was a location that was fairly accessible, and not too far away from good transport links. We have been delighted that Holly-Garth and Helmsley have met all of our criteria.The countryside and the rural economy are very important to us, and we have been delighted that our clients have helped to boost the local economy in this beautiful part of England.
What makes this Cottage unique
We manage our website and all bookings personally, and also aim to meet most clients. We have a brilliant caretaker to help us with changeovers and management, who lives across the road from Holly-Garth. We love spending time at the house with friends and family. We particularly enjoy visits to the seaside, the moors and stately homes, all of which are close to Helmsley. If we are staying in, we use the wireless broadband to plan the next day's adventures. There is also a fairly comprehensive library of books and films (Blu-ray & DVD). We have 2 comfortable sitting rooms, each with a large screen TV. In winter it is lovely to relax in front of the real log burner. In the summer we can either sit outside in the private courtyard garden or in the sitting room with the French doors open. The house is tastefully furnished and well equipped with original artwork in some of the rooms.

We arrived on Good Friday and the owner was there to meet us. The house was so clean, comfortable and spacious, and having two sitting rooms also meant that we could spread out or watch different tv programmes. Excellent facilities throughout the house, particularly in the kitchen which contained good quality equipment. In fact if you like to cook, which we do, you will find everything you could need. We have stayed in much more expensive houses which were less well equipped. The house is very child-friendly, with travel cot, high chair and safety gates. The owners had even put up some Easter decorations, which the children loved. There is good selection of books, DVDs and magazines for visitors' use. There were ample children's dishes, plates and cups.
The owners were very helpful, even going to the trouble of sending us email addresses and websites of pubs which were showing a football match which we particularly wanted to watch. The house is in a very good location and we could walk to Helmsley's main street in a few minutes. We were there for a week, and would love to go back.
Coast/Beach: Scarborough 31 miles by car, Whitby 34 miles by car. Good sandy beaches and facilities on Yorkshire's East Coast. Travel: Nearest airport is Teeside (40 miles) or Leeds Bradford (50 miles). Car or use of car recommended. Helmsley reasonably served by buses. Local taxi services available. Distances: York 27 miles, Scarborough 31 miles, Whitby 34 miles, Thirsk 17 miles, North Yorkshire moors nearby. Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley. Further Details: Local butchers, bakers, greengrocers, pubs, restaurants and post office within 5 minutes walk. Banks and other shops also available nearby in Helmsley square..

If booking less than 8 weeks before rental, full payment is required to secure booking. All bookings subject to our terms and conditions available on our website. Credit and Debit cards welcome. Changeover Day: Changeover Friday for full week bookings, and Friday for short breaks. Arrival after 15.00 and departure by 10.00.
