From the beautiful light and lofty living/dining area, the cottage looks out over the orchard, the horses and the South Downs. Filled with the owner's art and sculpture, the cottage is warm and toasty with its underfloor heating. A perfect base for the culture vulture in Chichester, the sailor in Selsey and the golfer at Goodwood (as well as car, horse, and festival devotees)! Situated in the beautiful property of Graingers, the current owner's art studios are also on site, and open to guests. Chichester's cathedral is a must-see, as are all the Roman ruins in and around the town. A great place to dine out too. Other good eateries include the The Richmond Arms in the village, The Horse and Groom in the next village, and occasionally a pop-up kitchen down the road! A haven of peace and tranquillity, Hornbeam offers you the great escape from the hustle and bustle of daily living. Wake up to the beautiful sound of birdsong, and the clopping of the horse's hooves in the yard.
Perfect retreat for the romantic getaway weekend (or longer!). This wonderful Shepherd's Hut is fully equipped with miniature shower room and loo, a microwave/grill, kettle and a fold-away bed. With an extra cupboard of storage space on the outside, this little hut takes you back to basics. With its own water-lily filled pond, it is a calm and tranquil spot, with a view up to the South Downs and over buttercup paddock. Brilliant food at the Richmond Arms, or across the field to the Horse and Groom. Pop-up kitchen occasionally available too.
Dr and Grace Lawson Baker live on the property with their three horses and three dogs, not to mention Mum and Dad in the corner cottage! Neil is a retired dental surgeon and sculptor now devoting his time to art full-time, and Grace is a practising speech therapist and Equine learning facilitation. They both love having people to stay in Hornbeam Cottage and the Shepherd's Hut, and are happy to share their gardens and local knowledge with guests.
