A beautiful, cosy room with everything you need for a perfect stay. Carol and Simon are a wonderful couple and I felt I had known them years, so friendly, could have chatted to them all day. Will definitely be back.
Excellent accommodation we really appreciated the warm welcome we received from our hosts, the property was immaculate overlooking a beautiful garden at the end of a beautiful village we really appreciated the complimentary biscuits & milk in the fridge and the owners couldn't do enough for us I would recommend this accommodation and have already told several friends as it is only a 11 minute drive to pickering town centre I would stay there again
My husband & I stayed for 3 nights. On our arrival, we were met by the very pleasant and bubbly Carol who showed us to the Garden Room. The room is a good size, very clean, well presented. It contains a large comfortable bed, plenty of drawers/wardrobe space, a table & chairs, TV, WiFi, an electric fire and a hair dryer. The kitchen has everything that is needed including complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk & a packet of biscuits. The bathroom is modern with a wet floor shower, heated towel rail and mirrored cabinet. Hand wash, soap and towels were also provided. There is secure off-road parking and the grounds are well maintained with a raised pond and waterfall. It is an ideal location if you like walking/scenery and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. I would definitely recommend staying in the Garden Room!
Having read the previous excellent reviews we were really looking forward to our stay at Ashfield Cottages and I have to say it certainly lived up to our expectations.
The room is spacious, exceptionally clean, very comfortable and well equipped. It has everything you need for a short break and we would happily stay longer as the absence of a cooker isn't a problem on holiday as it gives me an excuse to try the two lovely pubs close by - which we did :-).
Simon and Carol were lovely hosts, very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
The location in Lockton is ideal; a very quiet and peaceful village with the N Yorks Moors on your doorstep. It's just a seven minute drive into the lovely town of Pickering with Whitby and Scarborough only half an hour away too.
I would definitely recommend Ashfield Cottages and we are definitely planning on returning soon :-).
The listing and description of the garden room property was correct, outlining the location and amenities etc. The guide for directions to the property were spot on and the area is one of outstanding beauty. On our arrival we were met by Carol, the owner, who gave us a warm and friendly welcome. The property was spotless and very well maintained. The facilities were as those listed and were supplemented by milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits. During our stay we found the whole area to be quiet which allowed us to have a very relaxing stay. The local cafe in the village of Lockton is well worth a visit as is the Horseshoe Inn at Levisham. I have previous knowledge of the area and was able to re-visit places of old, including Helmsley and Goathland. My wife and I were doubly lucky in that the weather was glorious for our whole stay. I would certainly recommend the property and area to our relatives and friends and we hope to be able to visit again. On a next visit we will stay in one of the other cottages which offer even more facilities. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Thank you Carol and Simon.
Our second visit to the Garden Room and it was as good as the first. Such a lovely quiet place, fantastic facilities and good walking country right on the doorstep.
Carol and Simon are very welcoming and happy to share information about the local area (and loan maps). As it was a return visit, we knew exactly what kitchen facilities were available and were able to cook an evening meal on our first night. The Garden Room is clean and spacious, well furnished and has everything you need for a short stay.
Looking forward to our next visit already.
