Brilliant accommodation in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

Had another brilliant stay in No. 3 Ashfield Cottages in May 2017 and are already looking forward to coming again in the autumn. This cottage is spotless, superbly equipped and beautifully furnished and feels so home from home that it is a joy to come back to each day after a lovely day out. Carol and Simon, you are such friendly and caring hosts and you think of simply everything to make your guests feel they don’t ever want to leave. Our bedroom overlooked peaceful countryside and on several evenings we enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful garden with a glass of wine. As we had our three year old granddaughter with us we enjoyed the season ticket you provided for entry to Dalby Forest which is wonderful for children. She also loved the well-equipped playground within easy walking distance.

Lockton is ideally situated for the coastal town of Whitby and coastal beaches, National Trust and English Heritage places. The small, traditional English town of Pickering is quite close and offers a good variety of shops. It is also the Southern Terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and we spent a wonderful day on the steam train. Scarborough’s not that far either. There is a Tea Room in the village and two pubs within 1-mile of the village that serve food.

We can thoroughly recommend staying at Ashfield Cottages. You’ll love it!

Home from Home, lovely garden, peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

We hired this cottage along with Cottages 1 and 2 for a large group helping with a local event and then walking for the week. It had everything we needed, felt very homely and had access to a lovely garden. The walks from the doorstep were great, the seaside was close by, the Moors and the Railway walks were wonderful so we can recommend to walkers. It is in great condition, with everything you need. Home from Home.

A wonderful weeks' stay in No 3 Ashfield Cottages.

  • 5 of 5

As regular travellers to the Lake District and North Yorkshire we have stayed in many self catering establishments but Cottage 3 Ashfield Cottages is easily the best. The property was clean and very well maintained as many are, but this one has been furnished to a very high standard in every way. It is extremely comfortable. The weather was good and we were able to make use of the garden and sit outside. The owner was very welcoming on our arrival. We spent a good deal of time walking and sight seeing e.g. Whitby and Helmsley, and we very much enjoyed dinner at the Fox and Rabbit Inn on our last evening. I would definitely recommend this property to everyone.

Wonderful stay in well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Cottage 3 has been beautifully maintained and is equipped with everything you might need. It was cosy ( we needed as weather was arctic at end April) and all details we saw were accurate. Carol and Simon were welcoming and helpful. They arranged for me to store my bike in their garage which was fantastic. We are returning for a night at end of May which we look forward to- and hope to return in the future too

Very Enjoyable Return Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property was as described and was very clean & well maintained. Customer service was good and we would recommend this property.

We enjoyed visits to Malton, Whitby, Scarborough & Pickering. The fish & chips at the Fisherman's Wife, Whitby were particularly good, as was the food at the Fox & Rabbit a short trip down the road.

Didn't want to leave our home from home

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth visit and we have seen it in all weathers now. We are fascinated by how it can be so warm and cosy when it's cold outside and yet so fresh and cool when the weather is warm. In short this is a cottage you could easily make your home. We would gladly put some extra stars on the rating if we could. Added to that, Carol and Simon are superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble and we would like to thank them once again for their hospitality.
