Chalet Chablais is a traditional wood and stone building. The apartment is well appointed to a very high standard to provide a large open plan living area with underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. Doors open onto a large balcony to make the most of the sunshine and stunning mountain views. The chalet is located in the quiet village of Essert Romand just minutes in the car from the ski resorts of Morzine and Les Gets. There is a supermarket five minutes away and further down the valley is the traditional town, St Jean d'Aulps. Easily accessible by plane, Geneva is 75 minutes away. In the winter it is a wonderful area for the non-skier with cleared lakeside trails, guided snowshoe trails to see the wildlife and mountain restaurants accessible by lift and foot. The changeover day is Sunday

About Catherine Taylor

We, Andy and Catherine, have owned Chalet Chablais since 2006.

We live in Ambleside in the Lake District. Andy owns a local cycle business and Catherine is a primary school teacher.

We both love cycling, (mountain biking and road biking) fell walking and skiing.

Why Catherine Taylor chose Essert-Romand

We had been on holiday to Morzine during the summer for the past few years, staying with friends who had set up a mountain biking business. We fell in love with the area and started to look for a property so that we could spend more time there all year round.

We decided to make an offer for Chalet Chablais after standing on the balcony and looking at the stunning view of the mountains, which at the time was hidden behind some large conifers which have since been removed to open up the view.

What makes this apartment unique

The chalet is ideally located to access the Portes du Soleil ski and biking area although the lifts are not within walking distance. The ski bus passes the top of the road and you can bike into Morzine on the river trail in ten minutes.

Chalet Chablais is also a lovely place to be if you are not a skier. The open plan living area is light and airy, it has a well stocked library and TV and the terrace is a suntrap, perfect for those long lunches! Essert Romand is a peaceful and quiet village, a lovely place to stroll round and explore.

Notes on accommodation: Heating - Underfloor heating Sunday changeover Outside: The balcony runs along two sides of the apartment and is accessible from the lounge, kitchen and two bedrooms. There is a large flat grass area at the front of the garden with stunning views of the mountains. There is plenty of parking and a large shared garage. Utility Room: Washing machine, ironing board, iron and boot dryer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are provided, property cleaned and linen changed once a week. Other: Large tiled entrance hall with bench and coat cupboard. Wood burner in lounge. All areas of apartment are underfloor heated.

A true mountain home away from home

Our family was lucky enough to stay at Chalet Chablais for 5 weeks this winter and from opening the front door we knew it was going to be a very comfortable home away from home. We were immediately struck by how the chalet looked even better in reality. It has clearly been looked after and cared for well as nothing felt aged or worn out. The sitting area is really very spacious, with stunning views down the valley, and the kitchen is better stocked than ours home! The 3 bedrooms are well sized and whilst there is no bath, there are 2 good showers. Thoughtful touches like the hot water bottles & sledges were much appreciated bonuses. Catherine was very responsive and incredibly helpful in answering my many questions when planning our extended trip, she even sourced a cot & high chair for our daughter on request. We were very sad to leave but are already plotting a way to return next year! Concur with other reviewers, if you book this chalet, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful Apartment - We stayed this February Half Term 2018

We had a fabulous stay, the apartment is stunning. Perfectly clean, modern and cosy. The kitchen was so well equipped with everything you would ever need. We certainly managed 5 hot showers each evening without any trouble, fantastic showers. With under floor heating we opted to light the fire in the lounge each night, helped to dry out wet ski clothes. Great directions, about 15 minutes drive to the ardent lift. As we were in the area in 2017 we knew we could leave our skis at the hire shop each evening for ease. As long as you park up around 9ish there are plenty of spaces. Weather was a bit hit and miss with heavy snow and then rain for a few days, coming back to the apartment and chilling was a delight. We will definitely return at some point I'm sure and would highly recommend booking to anyone x

Beautiful apartment in a chalet in sleepy village just outside Morzine.

Wonderful location in beautiful setting with stunning views. Well equipped kitchen, well laid out apartment. Stunning views from open plan lounge, dining, kitchen area. Good sized bedrooms, lovely bathrooms. Owners even supplied hot water bottles.

We stayed over the New Year and had a great time with our grandchildren. Lots of places to visit Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz and other small villages within a short drive. Highly recommend this apartment and the owners were extremely helpful with excellent communication and response times.

Lovely stay

This is a great base for your ski holiday with all the home comforts provided. This is the second time we have stayed here and it is ideal for our family of 5. Plenty room, three bedrooms, warm, good showers, boot dryer, lots of storage space, beautiful kitchen with everything in it, games for the kids, satellite tv to name a few.

No surprises, another great holiday!

We stayed here last year for Christmas and had just such a lovely time we wanted to come back, so we did! From arranging the booking to having our Bread and Croissant order delivered to our door in time for breakfast, everything was just so easy. Catherine is always on the end of an email which is reassuring if last minute changes or queries pop up. The chalet was as good as it was last year, just fantastic and equipped for every eventuality, even dryers for your ski boots! The ski area is fabulous and the village is lovely and quiet but close enough for a quick 3 minute drive to morzine centre if you want a busier apres ski experience. You are missing a trick if you don't click and send a message to ask about availability, you will not be disappointed.

Car: recommended


Geneva airport is 75 minutes away and there are regular transfers by minibus. It is an 8 hour drive to the channel ports. A car would be useful to reach the ski lifts but in the winter the ski bus passes the top of the street (2 minute walk) on a regular basis.


Morzine and Les Gets are approx 4km. Lake Geneva, Thonon and Evian are about 40 minutes away by car.

There is a large supermarket 5 minutes away by car. There is a traditional Savoyard restaurant in the village, 5 minutes walk.

Extra cleaning includes cleaning the fireplace and fire glass, oven, microwave, emptying the dishwasher etc.
