Beautiful and newly renovated former farmhouse overlooking beautiful countryside. Large pool, with electric cover. Two acres of private, landscaped gardens and field. Covered, paved barn with table tennis table. Backing onto oak forest. Extremely peaceful location yet six kilometres to kayaking, high ropes, rock climbing etc in the Aveyron gorge. Close to Najac (8kms). Cordes sur Ciel (25kms) and St Antonin val Noble (21 kms).

Local activities include horse riding, kayaking, cycling (VTT tracks and bike hire), rock climbing, walking a network of marked footpaths, local vineyards open to visitors in Gaillac region etc

We bought this farm in 2010, when it was in need of total renovation. We have totally modernised and updated the farmhouse, while keeping its original character and charm.

Why Caroline Macdonald chose Najac

Lacombe is in a spectacular setting. It has far-reaching south-west facing views, is surrounded by oak forest and overlooks a gorge. It is very quiet, yet within driving distance of three lively villages, including Najac, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, with its medieval castle and bastide.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house has been modernised to a high standard with very large, airy rooms all with wonderful views. There are two reception rooms plus a very large eat-in kitchen. All bedrooms have en suites and two master main bedroom suites have independent access. Lacombe is cosy in winter with a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating. There is a large private garden and the property is totally secluded with a 12 x 5m pool.

Outside: Private pool. 12 m x 5 m with electric cover for safety (cover can be closed and locked). Seating for eight on terrace over looking pool. Large garden with swings and swing seat overlooking valley. Covered barn with table tennis table. Two separate balconies. Pigeon tower (typical of the region) currently used as a study, with stunning views. Utility Room: Washing machine, dryer, chest freezer. Covered drying space. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Property is cleaned before and after each rental. Other: Second reception room with games table, sofa, armchair, reading lights. Also, attached, covered barn with sandstone tiled floor, table tennis table etc.

Luxury in the rustic countryside

Wow, what a wonderful place! Beautifully refurbished with lots of space and modern functionality but plenty of charm and character remaining from the old farm building heritage. Pool and outdoor dining have fantastic views over the nearby valley and into the distant countryside. Surrounding countryside provides all manner of outdoor activities; hiking, biking, canoeing, camping as well as a relaxed rural setting.

Toulouse (Easyjet, BA etc) 1.20 hrs; TGV to Cahors, Montauban and Toulouse etc. Car is essential. The house is approximately 8 KMs from Najac village and Najac rail station (train from Toulouse). The Owners Direct map shows the house closer to Najac than it is.


Najac, 8kms, Cordes sur Ciel, 21 Kms, Vineyards of Gaillac region, approx 16kms.

Further Details:

The house is approximately six kilometres from an outdoor activity centre close to the village of Najac. Here you can hire kayaks on the river. There is also a 'Via Ferrata', climbing wall, mountain bike hire, mountain bike courses (with pick up and drop off if needed), High Ropes, etc etc.

About 2 kilometres from the house there is a stable with pony (Fjord ponies) trekking through beautiful countryside, with shetland ponies for young children (over eight years).

Changeover Day:
Saturday to saturday in high season. Check in time is 5pm, check out time is 10am. Out of season please contact owner.

Maximum 8 guests at any time.

Ask for rates for fewer than eight guests, in low or mid season.

We regret but we cannot take children under 8 years old unless they can swim. This is because we have an electric cover for the pool, and we occasionally experience power cuts during summer storms.

There is wifi at the house, but we are unable to guarantee it will always function, due to circumstances beyond our control: it is a rural environment, trees sometimes fall on lines, a tractor once backed into the telephone junction box etc.
