The area is a Mecca for walking, cycling, fishing and for golf. Wells Cathedral (smallest city in England) is 9 miles away many cafes, shops and Wednesday/Saturday markets. Bath, Bristol, Taunton and the Quantock hills are about 25 miles away. The Mendips and the famous Cheddar Gorge is about 6 miles away. CHILDREN!! do not miss Wookey Hole, Longleat and the many Farmparks close by. For some retail therapy 9 miles away Clarks village has a host of high street discount outlets. We love living here and we hope you will enjoy the countryside too.
My husband and I have always lived in Somerset and can not imagine living any where else.
We enjoy travelling in this country and further afield when possible.
I am a tennis nut and since retiring play as often as possible. Although we have 7 grandchildren who take up a lot of time and I visit them as often as time allows.
We both love walking seeing friends and family and making sure our garden is up together and that the cottage is spick and span for visitors.

We fell in love with the property and the situation as we had always dreamt of bringing up our children in the glorious Somerset countryside.
Highbury Cottage is situated in a small hamlet 2 miles from the popular Saxon village of Wedmore which is bustling with boutiques, village shops selling local produce, pubs selling local ales and of course local cider, a gastro pub, fish shop and many cafe.
The area is a mecca for fishing, walking, cycling, golf and many tourist attractions.

Bath and the Quantocks are about 25miles away and Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip hills are just up the road 6/7 miles.

The accommodation is light and airy with plenty of space to be comfortable and to relax.
1- 5' bed with ensuite bath and walk in shower
1- twin room with shower room next door.
Spacious sitting area with 3 seater sofa, TV, DVD, MP3 dock.
Dining area and a garden room with soft seating to view the many birds visiting the garden.
Well equipped kitchen with dish washer and separate area with washing machine and freezer.
Outside terrace for alfresco eating with BBQ and furniture a lovely way to relax after a busy day.

3rd May 2013 -Lovely Cottage and beautiful surroundings perfect for our first family holiday. Peter and Matty made us very welcome and at home. Gorgeous weather made the stay all that more enjoyable we will make every effort to return when our daughter can walk around the garden herself.
6th May 2013 -A beautiful cottage with everything we needed, kids loved the garden and paddock, couldn't get them in. Gifts on arrival were very much appreciated. We will definitely return.
17th Mat 2013 - This was our 2nd visit to this lovely cottage and we enjoyed it equally this year.
I have stayed in a numberof cottages over the past few years and highbury is in a league of its own. The owners matty and peter are super helpful while still giving you complete privacy. The cottage is superb, very well furnished clean and imediately makes you feel at home. It has fabulous large gardens and play area. We will definitely be revisiting this wonderful property.
Burnham-on-Sea and Brean are about 20mins drive by car.
Weston- super-Mare is about 30 minutes drive away.
All sandy beaches some can be accessed by car.
Further afield for example Lyme Regis on south coast is about 1hour and 30 minutes by car.
Bristol airport is 35 minutes by car.
Nearest train station is Burnham and Highbridge:6miles
Nearest motorway M5 Junction 22: 6 miles
Nearest pub: The Sexey's Arms in Blackford: 1 mile
Nearest Beach: Burnham-on- Sea: 20minutes by car
Wedmore village is 2 miles away where you will find shops selling most items and also local produce.
The famous Cheddar Gorge is about 6 miles away.
The Somerset Levels is close by and great for walking, cycling or explore by car to spot the birds/wildlife.
Wells is about 20 minutes by car.
There are National Trust Properties to explore including Tyntesfield, Stourhead, Montecute House and Barrington Court all within 1hour and half away by car.
Bath, Bristol and Taunton are 25miles away.
Wedmore village has shops selling groceries and local produce. The local paper shop have a full range of goods and a cash machine.
The Nat West bank is open in Wedmore on Mondays and Thursdays
Wells, Cheddar, Burnham-on-Sea have larger supermarket and high Street shops and Banks.
There is a lot of choice to eat out in Wedmore we have a gastro pub (The swan) and 2 other pubs, a pizza restaurant and 2 other family restaurants.
Also the delicatessen and designer shops are full of yummy things to tempt you with.
Wilkins Cider Farm is worth a visit to sit to while away the time.
Wedmore is a busy village with always something on there is a Beer festival in September and a village fair in July each year. The Harvest Home is held in August and the Somerset Carnivals are held in November they are spectacular events of illuminated colourful decorated floats.
There are play areas for the little children in Blackford and Wedmore.
