About Simon Platt

Treescape is our own holiday home and we're here whenever we can be.

Living in Edinburgh with our 11 year-old daughter, we've long had an ambition to have our own place here in the beautiful East Neuk.

I grew up in Fife and have many happy memories of the beach in Elie, while Clare, originally from Cumbria, fell in love with Scotland and the Neuk while studying at Edinburgh University.

We've been lucky enough to stay in many holiday rentals, in the UK and overseas; in Treescape, we've tried to incorporate the best of all of them.

We hope you love being here as much as we do.

Simon and Clare.

Why Simon Platt chose Leven

The East Neuk is one of our favourite places to be. We'd been searching for a property here for some time. But as soon as we found Treescape, we just knew this was the one.

The sense of peace and quiet, the quality of the light and the high-end finishes were instantly appealing. And with seven acres of grounds to explore, you could quite happily stay in and around the house your whole stay.

What makes this villa unique

Venture beyond your private estate and you have the whole of the East Neuk at your disposal. Elie beach is only ten minutes away.

There are cycling paths, historic homes, pretty villages and some of the best local, sustainable food anywhere in the UK. All this and St Andrews too.

Treescape is a wonderful property in a beautiful tranquil location. We explored the surrounding area to find beautiful beaches, scenery and lovely places to eat. The house offers everything you could possibly need including a fabulous media system, beautiful furnishings and very comfortable beds. An amazing holiday home in a wonderful part of the world.

Wonderful Villa in a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Treescapes to celebrate 3 generations of family big birthdays and had a fabulous time (85, 50, 25). The setting is ideal with so much to do in and around the house. We went out for dinner to The Ship on Saturday but all agreed we would have had more fun cooking back at the house!!!

Simon was very attentive and a great host.

We will definitely be back and will be raving about the house and Elie to all our friends :-)

a beutiful place

  • 4 of 5

We liked surroundings and accommodation/amenity, comfortable for a group stay (4 couples) and convenient access to golf courses and not far away from a metropolitan area (Edinburgh), etc. The only downside was 1. non-functioning coffee grinder 2. only 3 bathrooms for a 5 bedroom unit. The owner was easily accessible and responsive in a timely manner to inquiries.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to write a review for us. I'm so glad you had a good time and were able to enjoy much of what the area has to offer. Sorry to hear you had an issue with the coffee grinder and the number of bathrooms. I do hope that didn't spoil the week for you.

First rate, top class property in every way - beautiful decor, fantastic grounds, just gorgeous.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic, well equipped property in a beautiful location. A short walk to the beach, shops, golf and pubs and restaurants but still very secluded and peaceful. Our children felt completely at home, rising their bikes and exploring he amazing grounds. The house is incredibly comfortable and entry/exit/booking processes very smooth. Fantastic hosts and an absolute pleasure to be there - we can't wait to go again!

Fantastic experience!

  • 5 of 5

Treescape is an absolutely beautiful property, with contemporary amenities on scenic grounds. We were very pleased with our accommodations, sleeping and housing our 8 guests quite comfortably with very quiet surroundings. The kitchen was fully equipped, used for fantastic professionally cooked meals each evening served in the dining room where we reminisced about the day's activities. The guest house and grounds were immaculate. Our host was exceptionally helpful and conscientious leading up to, during, and after our visit, making sure that our requests and needs were attended to. Elie and the surrounding countryside are the epitome of the Scottish Lowland with rolling hills and winding roads. Close to the north shore of the Firth of Forth and to the wonderful Lundin Links Golf Course, not to mention St. Andrews. Great staging point for northern destinations. We enjoyed some of the best fish and chips we've ever had at the Anstruther Fish Bar. A truly fantastic experience! Highly recommended!

Fantastic property... Absolutely loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Treescape is a stunning property. It was our base for 3 days to celebrate my father-in-law's 70th birthday. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children and all loved it equally. The property is furnished to a very high standard and provided a really relaxing base to mark this special occasion. The men particularly enjoyed the close proximity of the property to the nearby pub for a pint before dinner, whilst we all enjoyed the coastal walks and the children loved the opportunity to fly their kites for hours on end. We took Simon's advice and used the services of top chef, Patrick Gilmour, to cook dinner for us all on the Saturday night. It was a fantastic evening with the most amazing food and made the weekend even more memorable. I can highly recommend it! Thanks Simon and Patrick!

Owner's Response: Hi there Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review of Treescape - and such a great one too! We're so glad you had a fab time. The location is almost perfect we agree: very close to the beach and the lovely Ship Inn but set in the most peaceful grounds, so you really feel as if you're away from it all. We've had Patrick cook for us as well and loved his cooking. Makes it extra relaxing to have someone do all the hard work for you! Hope to see you back again. Simon and Clare

Getting here

Treescape is a truly tranquil place to be. Yet it lies within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

It’s probably best, however, if you don’t rely on your satnav to get here: for some reason, many systems take you a mile or so away!

You can access Maps from our FB page Treescape Elie.

Or follow these directions:

From Edinburgh, the south and west

Cross the Forth Road Bridge and continue north on the M90. Leave the motorway at junction 2a (signposted Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy) and take the A92 dual carriageway east for around 18 miles.

At the first roundabout, turn right towards Kirkcaldy. At the next roundabout turn left, signposted Leven and St Andrews. This is the A915. Follow this road through Leven to Upper Largo.

In Upper Largo the road becomes the A917, signposted Elie. After one mile, turn right (still the A917) towards Elie.

Follow this road into the village, turning sharp left at the High Street. Follow the High Street until you are almost leaving the village as it heads towards St Monans.

The entrance to Elie House and Treescape is on the left between two stone arches, just before the speed derestriction signs. Follow this drive for a quarter of a mile. Treescape is the villa (number 3) closest to Elie House.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Edinburgh International just over an hour away. The nearest train station is Markinch, on the East Coast mainline, 20 minutes away. Hire or own car is recommended to get the most out of the area.

Distances:

St Andrews 14 miles. Edinburgh 43 miles. Gleneagles 45 miles. Glasgow 75 miles.

Coast/Beach:

Ten minute walk to the Blue Flag beach at Elie. This is a two mile long crescent of golden sand. The East Neuk coast is famous for charming fishing villages and arts & crafts. St Andrews famous West Sands is 20 minutes drive.

Further Details:

The village of Elie has a wonderful local deli, as well as cafes, shops and galleries. Award-winning farm shop is close-by for artisan meats, fruit, vegetables and more.

Activities on offer nearby include coastal walking and climbing, sea kayaking, sailing and tennis.
