About Simon Platt

Treescape is our own holiday home and we're here whenever we can be.

Living in Edinburgh with our nine year-old daughter, we've long had an ambition to have our own place here in the beautiful East Neuk.

I grew up in Fife and have many happy memories of the beach in Elie, while Clare, originally from Cumbria, fell in love with Scotland and the Neuk while studying at Edinburgh University.

We've been lucky enough to stay in many holiday rentals, in the UK and overseas; in Treescape, we've tried to incorporate the best of all of them.

We hope you love being here as much as we do.

Why Simon Platt chose Fife

The East Neuk is one of our favourite places to be. We'd been searching for a property here for some time. But as soon as we found Treescape, we just knew this was the one.

The sense of peace and quiet, the quality of the light and the high-end finishes were instantly appealing. And with seven acres of grounds to explore, you could quite happily stay in and around the house your whole stay.

What makes this villa unique

Venture beyond your private estate and you have the whole of the East Neuk at your disposal. Elie beach is only ten minutes away.

There are cycling paths, historic homes, pretty villages and some of the best local, sustainable food anywhere in the UK. All this and St Andrews too.

Wonderful Villa in a Beautiful Setting

We stayed at Treescapes to celebrate 3 generations of family big birthdays and had a fabulous time (85, 50, 25). The setting is ideal with so much to do in and around the house. We went out for dinner to The Ship on Saturday but all agreed we would have had more fun cooking back at the house!!!

Simon was very attentive and a great host.

We will definitely be back and will be raving about the house and Elie to all our friends :-)

Fantastic experience!

Treescape is an absolutely beautiful property, with contemporary amenities on scenic grounds. We were very pleased with our accommodations, sleeping and housing our 8 guests quite comfortably with very quiet surroundings. The kitchen was fully equipped, used for fantastic professionally cooked meals each evening served in the dining room where we reminisced about the day's activities. The guest house and grounds were immaculate. Our host was exceptionally helpful and conscientious leading up to, during, and after our visit, making sure that our requests and needs were attended to. Elie and the surrounding countryside are the epitome of the Scottish Lowland with rolling hills and winding roads. Close to the north shore of the Firth of Forth and to the wonderful Lundin Links Golf Course, not to mention St. Andrews. Great staging point for northern destinations. We enjoyed some of the best fish and chips we've ever had at the Anstruther Fish Bar. A truly fantastic experience! Highly recommended!

Fantastic property... Absolutely loved it!

Treescape is a stunning property. It was our base for 3 days to celebrate my father-in-law's 70th birthday. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children and all loved it equally. The property is furnished to a very high standard and provided a really relaxing base to mark this special occasion. The men particularly enjoyed the close proximity of the property to the nearby pub for a pint before dinner, whilst we all enjoyed the coastal walks and the children loved the opportunity to fly their kites for hours on end. We took Simon's advice and used the services of top chef, Patrick Gilmour, to cook dinner for us all on the Saturday night. It was a fantastic evening with the most amazing food and made the weekend even more memorable. I can highly recommend it! Thanks Simon and Patrick!

Beautiful house in a beautiful location

We (5 adults and a 4 year old) decided on a last minute break during half term and were delighted to find this stunning house. It was beautifully clean and the furniture and fittings were excellent. Our grandson particularly liked the bunk bedroom with the 'built in' toys. The kitchen is large and equipped with everything anyone might need or want and the lighting throughout the house is so sophisticated! We had a really relaxing, peaceful break in these beautiful surroundings. The grounds provided ample opportunity for long quiet walks and some raucous laughter at our grandson's antics when he discovered some of the hidden secrets just off the path. All in all, perfect and highly recommended.

A dream holiday house

We stayed here for a week with 2 families and children ranging from 1yr to 7yrs. What can I was amazing. Firstly Simon was efficient and accommodating always replying speedily and very polite in all correspondence.

The house itself is in a beautiful area and is walking distance to Elie and its beaches, shops and restaurants (fantastic fresh bread from Deli or bakery every morning was a treat). The coastline is ideal for youngish kids as there are things to look at every half mile or so along the Fyfe coastal path and shells galore to be collected. The rocks are perfect climbing walls for little people.

The house is kitted out to the highest quality. Beautiful rooms, great bedding, thick towels, powerful showers and warm. There is every kitchen gadget you could think of, plastic cups/plates for kids etc etc.

But the best thing for us...the grounds. One huge playground for adults and children alike. We took hot chocolate to the Loch & walked back by torch-light, built dens in the trees, played badminton on the lawn and cycled bikes up and down the driveway. Me and my friend ran most days and Simon advised us on a couple of nice routes.

We had a magic holiday and hope to go back soon.

Superb family holiday home

Treescape is a beautifully appointed family holiday home in a fantastic location. Simon and Clare have managed to create a visually stunning home which is also an extremely family friendly space - not easy. An ideal location to introduce our 6 week old daughter to her grandparents.

We were a large family group with ages ranging from 80 years to 6 weeks old and the house catered well for everyone's needs and was superbly equipped. We have travelled quite extensively and Treescape is most definitely one of the best properties we have stayed in.

The local area has a huge amount to offer - lovely beaches, a wide range of shops and restaurants all within walking distance of the house. Fantastic grounds for the older children to play and explore too. Our only regret was our stay was too short! We definitely hope to stay again for a longer time next year.

Ten minute walk to the Blue Flag beach at Elie. This is a two mile long crescent of golden sand. The East Neuk coast is famous for charming fishing villages and arts & crafts. St Andrews famous West Sands is 20 minutes drive.


The nearest airport is Edinburgh International just over an hour away. The nearest train station is Markinch, on the East Coast mainline, 20 minutes away. Hire or own car is recommended to get the most out of the area.
