The villa is made of two independent apartments, furnished also with antique furniture, obtained during a recent careful renovation that permitted us to better take advantage of the farm’s space, of which the existence is documented since the 17th century.
The house, located on another hill, has an incredible view of the surrounding countryside, that can be admired from two shaded porches.
At 20 mt distance from the farmhouse, a comfortable, panoramic and relaxing pool allows you to better spend your vacation and to cool down under the Tuscany sun. The pool is 5x14 meters, and is complete with sun-beds, chairs and beach umbrellas. For more information and photographs, you can visit our website www.pennella.it
Pennella (the whole villa) is divided into two independent apartments. Each apartment consists of: on the ground floor a spacious living room, a kitchen, a small restroom, and outside a shaded porch suitable for outdoor meals. On the first floor there are two bedrooms with a spectacular view of the countryside.
Air conditioning for the hottest summer days.
My family and I (from Australia) had the privilege of staying at Villa Pennella for a week during September 2014. Our party was 5 adults and one baby so we had the whole villa.
The villa was absolutely magnificent, just as shown in the pictures. It was immaculately clean, beautifully presented and had everything you could possibly want.
Outside, the loggias were beautiful for afternoon drinks and dinners, the views are so stunning. The pool area was also beautiful and well maintained.
The location was perfect for visiting many of the small towns in the region. Pienza was our favourite, and we were spoiled for choice with some amazing restaurants. Our favourite was Terazza Val D'Orcia, but we didn't have a bad meal while we were there.
A must-do while you are staying at the villa is a dinner cooked by Mrs Marcella. The food was so amazing, we had her cook for us for a second night!
Although there were Wi-Fi issues during our stay, the management was exceptionally helpful in trying to rectify the issue. Although they could not fix it during our stay, we're sure it will be fixed for future visits.
The only real difficulty we encountered was finding the property. If booking the property we would probably recommend getting actual gps coordinates. It was difficult to find using the maps given.
We will definitely return to this property and would have no hesitation recommending it to anybody who wanted to visit the Val D'Orcia region.
Wow ! !...was what I kep saying all during our stay. When you rent a villa for a holiday, you are always apprehensive about what it is going to be like until you've actually seen it, especially as we are quite discerning and difficult to please. Have no concerns whatever about Villa Penella near Pienza. The photographs were true, the descriptions were accurate, the communications excellent. Quality goes all the way through from the website, right through to the actual property.
The situation of Penella is panoramic; set a short distance up a bumpy lane off a quiet road, it has unobstructed all round views of typical Tuscan countryside. It is close to all the main Tuscan towns, no long journeys anywhere, Pienza, is only ten minutes away, similarly Montichello, and spectacular breathtaking views over vineyards at every twist and turn.
The whole villa is exceptionally well appointed; so much thought has been put into everything in and around the place you can tell it has actually been fitted out for the owners personal use rather than a holiday let business. Very comfortable and well furnished large sitting room, smart and fully equipped mod con kitchen, ideally positioned shaded loggia with comfy chairs and outdoor eating facilities.
Each bedroom has views over the countryside, comfortable beds and fine linen, coupled of with luxurious bathrooms that Italians, with their sense of style, seem to excel at.
We had a serious car problem which would not have been easily solved without the time, help and goodwill of Massimo the Gardener...and of course, Mrs Marcella who met us on arrival with a splendid basket of essential foods, including good wine, coffee and much more. The owners of this Villa are obviously very committed to ensuring that their guest have a relaxing and great stay in their own private villa.
In the child safe garden, at the end of a very hot and dry summer, the Swallowtail butterflies chased each other over the flowers, shrubs and herbs. Down the steps is a well maintained, good sized pool, shower and shaded seating area.
The nearby town of Montichello has a superb restaurant, La Porta, that shouldn't be missed, and after, if you go SLOWLY on the return journey up the track, your car headlights might pick out Porcupine, Deer, Badgers, Hares, Foxes.
Would we go again..in a heartbeat, would we recommend it - absolutely.
We stayed one week in august 2011 on this beautiful location.
We spend our holidays for more than 10 years in Italy, but this region is by far the best of Italy. The house is built on a small hill with wonderful views on the countryside of the val D'Orcia.
This is a ideal place to relax : the daily walks at sunrise, the outside breakfasts with panoramic view, the quietness, the large swimmingpool, the dinners at sunset.
The accommodation is very tasteful, comfortable, clean and well maintained.
We met the owners twice, they are very friendly, generous and do everything to make it the guests as comfortable as possible.
We are so pleased about this location that we have already booked again for this year. We highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants to visit Tuscany.
we visit the tuscany since many many years, but this was really the best location we ever had.
the house is amazing and full of lovely details.
the kitchen was great and we also had a big new barbecue station outside.
the pool was clean and had a wonderful view.
our three little pugs enjoyed the holiday like we did!
if you would have a luxury special trip you have to choose this house.
Thanks also to the very friendly owner!
we hope to come back in 2012!!!!!!
If you are looking for relaxation, good food, silence and extraordinary colourful panoramas, you can’t not come to Val d’Orcia: this southern Tuscany valley, that has been recognised from UNESCO the award for humanity world-wide estate, awaits you. Our villa is ready to welcome you as if you were at your own home!!!
Pennella, our villa, is a brick house on the top of a hill in the middle of the countryside which has a touching 360° panorama.
Pienza, Monticchiello, Montepulciano, Montalcino and Bagno Vignoni are the nearest places to visit. Siena, Florence and Perugia are easily accessible from here.
Nature, art, history, cuisine and thermal baths are some of the reasons why you should not miss this part of Tuscany, rich in countryside, castles and works of art.
