We moved to this beautiful part of the country 13 years ago to enjoy a better way of life and we haven't been disappointed. Living in wonderful countryside yet within easy reach of Kendal and the motorway network we feel very lucky to have found Simgill. The farm was in a bad state when we acquired it and we set ourselves a major task to renovate the farm and barns. During this time we have kept various animals but by far the easiest and nicest animal to look after is the Alpaca. We have over 60 with an ever increasing herd. We are hands on with our herd and guests have said it has been the highlight of their stay to meet and feed our Alpacas, even going as far as to say it has been one of the best days of their lives so far.
Scenic, peaceful, idyllic yet has easy access to the M6 motorway, Kendal market town and the amenities of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Ideal for friends and families meeting from all parts of the country.

Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, Alpacas close by, walks from the doorstep, this peaceful location is within easy reach of Kendal market town. Simgill Farm is the only accommodation we know who offers guests a chance to see Alpacas up close and hand feed them if they wish.
Gill Side Barn - My 30th birthday with 15 friends & was not disappointed in the slightest. Beautiful property, Wendy & Joe are lovely people who couldn't have made us more welcome. The cottage is furnished to a high standard, we couldn't have asked for anything more. For a property of this size, the quality of everything is superb including the beds! Kendal is a 10 minute drive away, there are sufficient taxi firms offering mini buses to get into town for a big group. Good for a night out! Lots to do locally, we did clay pigeon shooting & quad biking whilst we were there. Would definitely return!
Barn Court Cottage - We had a really great weekend - a beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of the country. The cottage is clean & really well appointed but the highlight was getting to meet and feed the alpacas - amazing.
Meadow View - Stayed here with a group of ladies. Couldn't praise the house highly enough. Very spacious and finished to an extremely high standard. Lovely location.
