Converted Stable in Napton on the Hill, Warwickshire, England - Secluded, Rural Location Next To The Oxford Canal
About Nigel Wood
The owner Nigel is a canal enthusiast which led him to the property in the first place. Keen on all things steam, he occasionally crews on the Steam narrow Boat President on her trips away from the black country museum. Other interests include cycling and motorcycling. Napton is a great base for doing both

If I could rate this property it would be 11 out of 10 evan better than described. Nigel is such a gentleman and has good knowledge of the area. It was lovely of Nigel to provide local cider and biscuits on our arrival. The local pub also provide good food ánd real ale. The surroundings are peaceful with good canal side walks. It was really nice to see all the boats go by and every one was so friendly. Thank you for making our stay to celebrate our anniversary so nice Nigel. Sheena & Paul.
Wonderful location. Clean, comfortable and well equiped cottage.
If you like canals, you'll love this cottage. Set in a wonderfully peaceful area adjacent to a canal lock allows you to feel part of the canal culture without the hard work. Given it is so close, any canals noise is not intrusive, and only enhances your stay. Bird song and breath taking views are your constant companion. The local village, which is a short walk away, has a seductive community shop/café/post office which can provide most of what you might need, and a lot delicious treats, was a daily visit for me. The Folly pub at the end of the drive is very welcoming and not intrusive. Well worth a visit or two. I cannot recommend this cottage more highly.
Lovely setting with the sheep one side and the canal on the other and a lovely pub at the end of the drive.
A comfortable bed, large shower room and a fully equipped kitchen.
In fact everything you could need for the perfect stay.
Thank you Nigel for your warm welcome and the cider!
Really enjoyed our stay here, great property and great location in a quiet rural village at the side of a canal. The property has everything you need and Nigel is a great host. With a quirky pub serving great food, real ales and local ciders what more could you want. An excellent base for Warwick, Leamington and Stratford as well as bigger cities like Leicester, Nottingham and Coventry. Do as little or as much as you want.
Another wonderful stay
We have stayed at this property on several occasions and as always enjoyed our time there. It is a superb location, quiet and peaceful however there are ample facilities nearby and with in easy reach of the towns and cities should you wish to visit them.
The property is beautifully appointed and the owner always provides very thoughtful touches.
Great canalside escape
This is a lovely little property at the end of the village next to a canal with a pub next door. Secluded and private but not in the middle of nowhere. It was lovely waking up to sparrows and sheep every day.
The owners are lovely and solved a problem we had very quickly on the first day.
The cottage is well appointed with everything you might need, the log burner is a great addition and the TV is a good size for a holiday home.
With stone floors throughout you might need to remember your slippers if you're not used to walking on hard floors.
The Folly, next door, is a lovely canal pub, with good pub grub and local (made less than a mile away) cider. In the village the Post Office is a great place for hot and cold food and general supplies.
