About Reena Edson
Russ and Reena stumbled upon Bourton on the Water while on honeymoon and fell in love with the natural beauty of the area. The surrounding villages of Stow on the Wold, The Slaughters, Burford, Morton in March and North Leach are full of character with great pubs, historical sites and stunning national trust sites. We love great food and wine so we and have left you a list of our favourite restaurants and pubs but we also hope that you too stumble across some great local attractions as there are too many to name or list. We advise you to call Reena on 07977149072, who will be delighted to give you local tips.

Why Reena Edson chose Bourton-on-the-Water
We loved the fact that Bourton is a bustling village so you can walk to the little well stocked supermarket, restaurants, tea rooms and also walk to a variety of beautiful pubs along the river Windrush this is a real benefit because taxis are hard to find in the Cotswolds so its nice to be able to have a few glasses of wine with dinner and leisurely walk home. Nearby The Slaughters are absolutely stunning villages which shows off the famous Cotswolds stone cottages at their most divine. We recommend you stop off for a pint of local brew and tasty lunch time bite another great pub, the Slaughter Inn Or take a drive through country lanes to Burford and have a fabulous meal at the Lamb Inn.
What makes this House unique
Bourton has a great range of accommodation. Callow Cottage is unique because it is a surprisingly spacious 3 bedroom property built specifically to suit the needs of a sleeps 6 holiday let while staying true to the local character. The holiday makers comfort has been key so it includes features such as bathroom on each floor. A huge sofa and dining table. An easy to use wood burning stove and high tech smart TV for cosy nights in after a scenic walk. A sweet small courtyard for sociably al fresco dining. And last but not least a well equipped kitchen for Sunday roasts or bakery equipment for baking delights. Callow Cottage can accommodate any whim of the discerning self catering holiday maker.

Fantastic cottage in a wonderful location
We had a fantastic week staying at Callow cottage. It has everything required to meet the needs of a young family such as ours and is just a few minutes walk from the village centre with its selection of pubs, tea rooms and attractions. We had a great time exploring the local area and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Nice cottage, perfect location
House was clean and nicely-equipped. The microwave was missing from kitchen, which wasn't a problem for the most part but caught us out on the first night as we'd planned to use it to quickly feed the kids when we arrived.
Location on Lansdowne was great - just 2 minutes' walk from the centre of Bourton - tons of things to do for young children. We would come back.
A minor issue - there were no recycling facilities that we could see (we took bottles and things to the centre ourselves) and we had to find out about bin collection from the council website - it would have been useful if this information had been shared.
The best of both worlds
A wonderful 5 year old attached cottswold stone cottage in the old architectural style but with all the new modern conveniences. Even has creeking floors that add authenticity. The location can’t be beat. A 2 block walk to the village green. Wonderful neighbors and great food at the Mousetrap Pub next door.
Clean, comfortable and practical
Nice property, very conveniently located walking distance from centre of bourton on the water. We had an excellent stay here and discovered the beautiful Cotswold region.
Comfortable, excellent location but not homely
It was a comfortable stay - the house was clean, well furnished and everything worked as it should have.
However, it lacked the charm that we expected of a property describing itself as "boutique-chic".
The only practical issues I had with the property was that the heating was not controllable - although we were never cold in the house, there were one or two moments when we would have liked the house to have been warmer and we were unable to get the central heating to come on (outside of the timed hours) - this may have been because the thermostat control of the heating system would not allow the heating to come on.
Also, hand towels and kitchen towels were not provided.
Given our expectation of the charm we expected from a "boutique-chic" place, I felt that the rental price was not good value.
Comfortable townhome, great location
The space is comfortable with three levels and the best space on the highest floor. Location is great with a 3 minute walk you can be eating breakfast at the bakery on the water. We did have some minor issues with the heat functioning properly and the internet connection. Also several signs of settling and careless maneuvers with objects, lots of wall marks or dents and big gaps in joints. Parking space is for 2 very very small vehicles but you may not be able to exit the vehicle after parking. We had to park our second vehicle on the road side. Have not stayed in Bourton on the water before but compared to other rentals in the UK this is in the top 20%.

The beautiful River Windrush flows through the village with a series of beautiful stone bridges which has led to Bourton on the Water being called "The Venice of the Cotswolds". The next village is The Slaughters where you can treat yourself to an extra special meal out at Michelin rated Slaughter Manor and the market town of Stow on the Wold is just a short 10 min drive away.
The house has parking for two cars on the front drive. A car is recommended as the surrounding villages are lovely to visit and a public transport option between the villages is not always available.
3 minutes walk into the centre of Bourton on the Water making Callow Cottage an ideal place to stay and explore the area. Birdland, the Motor Museum, the Model Village several traditional village pubs and the beautiful river Windrush, with it's attractive stone bridges and riverside tearooms, are all within 5 minutes' walk.
The village has several lovely tea rooms, independent restaurants, pubs and artisan shops many of which line the river banks making Bourton on the Water an exceptionally pleasant village to explore.
Attention Country File Fans!
