About Matt and Emily Clark

We moved here over 12 years ago with our two small children in pursuit of a more peaceful life with long hot summers. We have spent our time renovating our barn conversion and our other properties whilst building up a successful activity holiday company with celebrity chefs cookery courses and yoga retreats and now enjoy a wonderful family life with our four children. Our main ethos is that we want people to come and have a great time so they can relax and enjoy all we can offer.

Matt and Emily Clark purchased this farmhouse in 2010

Why Matt and Emily Clark chose Le Mazeau

We have lived in the Vendee for over 12 years and this is one of our properties that we rent out for holiday lets.

We rent this property out because of the stunning location and the house really compliments that. We love the French way of life and the easy going lifestyle and hope that you will enjoy this also.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Ideal for large groups or people that want a lot of space.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a fantastic stay and was truly a picturesque place to stay, the pool area was great and a really nice place to unwind. We took the boat out on several occasions and ended up in some lovely local bars which was really unique to any where else we have stayed in the past. Many thanks to Matt for being on hand for local information, we will be returning!

John Finch.

This was one of my favourite holidays in France and I have been a lot of times!

Just a great place to unwind and the garden is fantastic for the children with so many trees to climb. Many a late evening in the great pool terrace covered area having bbqs and swims.

Superb rustic French property, lovely bedrooms

  • 5 of 5

Really great place with plenty of things to do locally, the wood fired cooking area is great and we really had a special time here. The grounds are massive and my son and I fished the river at the bottom of the grounds and caught 8 fish! Good fun all round. Thanks

Eleven adults + 8 young children

  • 4 of 5

This was a family holiday centred on young children aged 6months to 6 years. It proved a great success. The farmhouse is large and comfortable and most of the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. One bedroom downstairs is a bit austere as it has no windows and only a skylight. The kitchen and sitting rooms are exactly as described and easily coped with all the demands we put upon it.

The outside is wonderful. A great swimming pool; lovely outdoor BBQ and eating area which is shaded on hot evenings. There is a large orchard running down to the canal giving a lots of shade and plenty of play space.

The immediate countryside is ideal for cycling and short visits. The beaches at La Rochelle and Ile de Re are less then an hour away. Shopping is not a problem.

Matt and Emily were very responsive to our needs and were lovely to deal with.

We are likely to return and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a similar holiday.

Perfect location, lovely outdoor space and pool

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous living and outdoor space. Ideal for family and friends to get together and the perfect venue for our wedding party (Mat and Emily did the catering with panache)! Stressed travellers loved the pool. Wish we had had a bit longer to explore the canals but we had a lovely pre-wedding meal in La Pigouille in the very pretty town of Coulon.

Grande maison familiale à l'ancienne

  • 4 of 5
