deposit not returned in full making a cheap, poor quality apartment, expensive
We were charged for damage to the dining table that we did not do - the owner stated that when we left the table leg was damaged and the table propped against the wall - if this was the case then we were not the ones who caused the damage as we did not move the table for the week nor put anything heavy on it. Be aware that this owner may try to charge you for things that you for damage that you have not caused.
The apartment is not located in Cognet as shown on the map but in Eclose Est - it is close to the Bergers lift that can get you to the Bergers area of the resort or you can ski down a short green to the centre of town lift. Th lift through the town centre had long queues the one day we tried it so we stuck mainly to the lift over to Bergers which although slow was more predictable. There are 3 sledges which were great for the children on the nearby hill. There is a ski locker for skis which felt quite secure but nowhere to put your skiboots.
The apartment is small and cluttered with furniture (dining table, 3 chairs, 3 stools, a bench, a coffee table, sofabed and the folded outdoor furniture all in the tiny living space). The kitchen is full of useless stuff (for example there are 6 old saucepans and 3 frying pans but only a 2 ring hob). There is a separate microwave and oven, raclette grill, 2 coffee makers, kettle...... But we could only find 1 useful plug socket. Because of all the owners stuff you have no space for your own stuff when you stay and so it is very hard with all of your skiing stuff for the week.
The fridge is very old and makes noise all night so is difficult for those in the bunk beds next to the front door and can also be heard from the 'bedroom'. The double bed in the bedroom is quite old and bends in the middle so if two people are sleeping in it they fall together in the middle. The toilet door does not close properly and has no handle so when you go to the toilet you can look at the people in the bunk beds. The bath is only 1m long so you cannot sit in the bath with your legs straight and the shower attachment is only handheld so you can't have a shower. There is enough hot water in the tank for one and a half baths.
Despite these criticisms the apartment is cheap and possibly ok at this price - if you are not charged an additional amount for damage that you have not caused.
