Shepherds Patch Cottage in Thurlestone, South Devon - The Beaches And Superb Golf Course Are Only A Ten To Fifteen Minute Stroll Away.

Shepherds Patch cottage is situated in the heart of the quaint village of Thurlestone and being set back from the main road is an ideal venue for those who wish to be within easy reach of the beach but still enjoy the quiet and peaceful village life. At the end of the road there is a Village Inn offering fine ales and good home cooked food and opposite a small post office with a well stocked shop. The property has been refurbished to a high standard and now benefits from light and spacious rooms all of which are beautifully presented brimming with home comforts and quality furnishings and offering accommodation for up to 10 guests. Accessed from the lounge is a fully glazed conservatory which is a perfect area for relaxing late into the summer evenings, the doors open onto a patio and a secluded garden with table and chairs suitable for al-fresco breakfasts, afternoon tea or a late evening glass of wine. Well behaved dogs welcome at an additional cost of £25 per pet, per week.

We are a small family business specialising in producing comfortable 'home from home' type holiday cottages in Cornwall, Devon and the Cotswolds. Each of our properties featured are owned and managed by ourselves. The benefit of this is that we know each property personally and this helps us provide a better service. Many of our guests return on a regular basis and some come by recommendation. If you are new to us you will find 'the team' to be efficient and helpful even to the extent of helping you to find the property that suits your holiday requirements best. It is important to us to provide a service of good quality and we are always happy to hear from our visitors with ideas or suggestions to help improve the service.

The other has a double bed and all three benefit from a range of antique furniture. The 2nd floor incorporates two twin bedded rooms furnished traditionally.

                                    Thurlestone golf course situated in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ is a fantastic location to play golf and tennis and only a ten minute walk from the cottage. Running along the stunning coastline of Bigbury Bay, the course is a mix of links and cliff-top terrain with the latter providing breath-taking views of the legendary Thurlestone Rock to the East and the beautiful Avon Estuary and Burgh Island to the West. The course is one of the most exhilarating with majestic rocky seascapes above the coves where smugglers used to operate. It is also ideal holiday golf - not too severe, with quite generous fairways but the wind, of course, can blow with a vengeance.

                                          • Outside: Outside the enclosed garden enjoys secluded privacy and has been well stocked with a variety of plants and shrubs. There is a small lawned area, a patio with furniture for dining alfresco. There is only one allocated parking space however additional parking is available nearby in the village. Well behaved Dogs are accepted at an additional cost of £30 per pet, per week or short break booking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The beds will be made up and there will be a bath sheet and a bath towel for each person. Please note we do ask you to take your own beach towels. Other: There is a fully glazed conservatory which is a perfect area for relaxing late into the summer evenings, the doors open onto a patio and a secluded garden with table and chairs suitable for al-fresco breakfasts, afternoon tea or an evening glass of wine.

                                            Coast/Beach: There are two main beaches at Thurlestone. The smaller of these, Thurlestone Sands, is near to Thurlestone Golf Club and at the southern end of the beach, you can explore the rock pools around the spectacular arched rock to which the village owes its name. The larger beach is further along the coast in the direction of South Milton. Both have fine shingle and sand coverings and are in sheltered locations. The beaches and superb Thurlestone Golf course are a ten to fifteen minute stroll away. Travel: The nearest Airport is Plymouth - 15 miles. Distances: At the end of the road there is a Village Inn offering fine ales and good home cooked food and opposite a small post office with a well stocked shop. Further Details: Towns and villages which are not too far away and worth a visit are: Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Totnes, Dittisham, Blackawton, kingswear, Strete, Torcross and Modbury. Paignton Zoo is popoular for children and Stoke Flemimg benefits from spectacular sea views and an award winning beach.
