Apartment in Alnwick, Northumberland, England - Centrally Located, Allowing You To Explore The Medieval Market Town Of Alnwick
Our holiday apartment is located in the town centre, within walking distance of Alnwick high-street, Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden. It’s also a great base from which to explore the many attractions Northumberland has to offer including Northumberland coast & castles, Northumberland National Park and the various market towns in the region. Newcastle & Gateshead are just a short drive South or why not take the train to Edinburgh from Alnmouth .The apartment is on the second floor of the Hotspur building. On the third floor is a belvedere (turret) where one can enjoy views over AInwick and the castle in the distance – an ideal getaway for a quiet game of cards, reading or to enjoy a glass of wine. Many of our guests enjoy having breakfast in the belvedere whilst watching the world go by below. The Hotspur apartment is quirky yet the interior is contemporary and is furnished to a high standard with light decor and carpets.Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the apartment.

About Richard Wood
We bought the Hotspur apartment in 2007 so we could use it ourselves as well as offer it as a holiday let. We fell in love with the Northumberland area over the following years as we explored it more and more, so much so that we moved (from Leeds) to Rothbury in 2012. The countryside, coast, towns and villages are beautiful and so varied we never tire of it. There is something for everybody here, whether you enjoy walking, cycling, beach activities, castles, culture, Farne Islands, National Trust and English heritage properties, wildlife and most of all - peace and tranquility!

The apartment is clean, comfortable, well equipped and well situated. We had a lovely few days away. All amenities within walking distance & situated within a short drive of the beautiful Northumberland coastline. Will definitely stay again if we travel this way in the future. Thank you.

Lovely, cosy but spacious apartment in an excellent location.
The Hotspur apartment was a fabulous place to stay and wonderful to come home to after a day sight-seeing. It was full of character, yet had lots of modern touches too. Just a 5 minute walk to Alnwick Castle and plenty of food and drink options on your doorstep. We really enjoyed the drive across to the coast to visit both Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh Castles. Would highly recommend to others.

Coast/Beach: The apartment is located within a few miles of Beautiful Coastline, an area of outstanding natural beauty – 39 miles of largely unspoilt stretches of white sands and rocky headlands in a region of strong Christian Heritage where you can visit Holy Island and the Farne Islands nature reserve. Travel: The apartment is convenient for the A1 and Alnmouth Station, which lies on the East Coast Main Line, is only 3 miles away with good local bus and taxi services. Newcastle airport is 34 miles away. Distances: Medieval Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter film location) and Alnwick Gardens (12 acres of landscaped gardens featuring a fabulous water cascade, Tree House and Poison Garden) are 5 minutes walk away. Newcastle is only 30 minutes away by car away and Edinburgh is 2 hours away by car or one hour by train from Alnmouth station, which has free parking. The Northumberland National Park is only 30 minutes away there are many National Trust and English Heritage properties near by. Further Details: Northumberland has been labelled "England's most tranquil county". The historic town of Alnwick, seat of the Duke of Northumberland is said, by many, to be the most picturesque market town in Northumberland. Alnwick has many restaurants, cafes and pubs, all within walking distance of the apartment. The town is served by 4 supermarkets (Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Lidl and Co-op) and many independent shops. There is a leisure centre with swimming pool. The world famous Barter Books is 2 minutes walk away from the apartment, where you can browse their enormous selection of second hand books and enjoy a drink or a snack beside the open fires in the old station waiting rooms. The harbour at Seahouses is nearby and offers trips to the Farn Islands, fishing trips and whale watching excursions.

Booking Notes: Bookings can be made by telephone. We require a deposit of £200 on booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks before your stay. Changeover Day: Changeover day is normally Friday but we do offer some flexibility. Guest arrivals are from 4pm onwards and departures should be by 10am. We may be able to offer some flexibility on this. Notes on prices: Short breaks and late availability offers available. Please enquire.
