About Nigel Taylor

The owners Nigel and Gay Taylor live in Beckenham in Kent, England.

Nigel Taylor purchased this villa in 2004

Why Nigel Taylor chose Trinidad & Tobago

Having holidayed in Barbados for a number of years, and thoroughly enjoyed it, in 2004 we decided to try Tobago. We immediately fell in love with the island and before our two week holiday was over had put down our deposit on Villa Cluster 30a.

Each year since we have holidayed in Tobago three times a year. It is our heaven on earth. Nigel loves golf and plays the course regularly, Gay hates golf and loves lazing around the pool reading. We both love pottering around the island, eating and drinking al fresco either at the villa or at one of the numerous quality restaurants and bars.

Tobago is unspoilt beauty, the locals are friendly and laid back. It is the antithesis to flash and busy.

We hope you choose to go to Tobago and enjoy our villa, that also gives us great enjoyment.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Cluster 30a is within a secure gated community just ten minutes from the airport.

It has its own pool (heated if necessary), sun deck and a beautiful garden full of tropical vegetation.

It is 5 minutes stroll to an uncrowded mile long golden sandy beach.

It is 5 minutes stroll to the 4 star Magdalena Grand Beach Resort with its beach bars, pools and restaurants.

It has good speed internet access.

Cable TV in bedrooms and living area.

We can arrange very competitive car hire who will either meet and greet at the airport or at the villa at your convenience.

Villa Cluster 30a is not a big villa but is well -proportioned to suit one or two couples.

VC 30a is suitable for golfers, water sports enthusiasts, eco-tourists and those just wanting to chill out in this idyllic island.

Special interest holidays:

Diving:

Tobago is a very popular diving location. The island has some of the best diving sites in the Caribbean. There are 3 wrecks located around its shores and the waters are home to many spcies of tropical fish, rays and turtles.

Eco-tourism:

The Tobago Forest Reserve claims to be the oldest protected forest in the western world.

This forested area has great biodiversity including many species of birds (including the dancing blue-backed manakin), mammals, frogs, (nonpoisonous) snakes, butterflies and other invertebrates. It is one of the most approachable areas of rainforest, since it is relatively small and there are government-appointed guides who provide an authoritative guiding service through the forest at a reasonable cost. The guides are knowledgeable about the plants and the animals, and can call down rare and exotic birds from the canopy by imitating their calls.

Tobago also has nesting beaches for the leatherback turtle, which come to shore between April and July.

Coast/Beach:

Tobago Plantations is blessed with a mile long un-crowded golden sandy beach which is a short 5 minute stroll in flip flops and swim wear from the villa.

Tobago of course has many other beaches to explore and enjoy. Pigeon Point with snorkelling and dive facilities is a short 15 minutes drive away and further away but worth a visit is Englishman's Bay a location of exceptional natural beauty.

Travel:

Tobago Plantations is just a 10 minute drive from Tobago's Crown Point airport. So after collecting your bags at arrivals you will very soon be 'home' and enjoying the villa's facilities.

You will need a car and this can be arranged for you. Typically the cost is around £25 per day. Petrol is very cheap in Tobago. You can pick up the car at arrivals or it will be delivered to the villa at your convenience.

Distances:

The villa is a short 5 minutes walk to the 4 star 200 room Magdalena Grand Beach Hotel, Tobago's premier hotel. The Magdalena has a number of beach bars, swimming pools and restaurants and has a stunning vista of the Atlantic.

Scarborough, Tobago's capital is a 15 minutes drive north.

Tobago is just 26 miles long and 6 miles wide. Everywhere is therefore within an hour's drive. Explore and enjoy.

Further Details:

There are a number of supermarkets within 10 minutes drive, a farm which sells good quality meat is also a 10 minutes drive. Fishermen sell their fresh catch from roadside market stores nearby.

There is a shopping mall with a wide range of stores and a cinema complex 5 minutes away.

There are numerous good quality restaurants and bars within a 15 minute radius.

Great property, great location.

This is the sixth time we have stayed at this villa and we stay between July and September and we stay between 4 and 6 weeks each time. We love this villa and Nigel and Gaye are very accommodating. We always book our car hire with Roger Harris, who Nigel kindly organises a meet and greet service through, and he meets us at the airport with the car. The golf course makes a beautiful location and is only a couple of minutes from a picturesque lagoon. This lagoon, although does not have a beach, is ideal for kayaking and SUP (stand up paddle) through Radical Water Sports, based at Pigeon Point. Pigeon Point is the main commercial beach. Our daughter, who is 14 now, has kayaked in this lagoon many times and has also had SUP lessons here as it is fairly sheltered and shallow. There are numerous private local tour reps. We always use Linley Barry (L.B Tours and Rentals who can found under Linley Barry on Face Book or +1 (868) 7029451.

The villa is well equipped and kept extremely clean. The maid is lovely and goes the extra mile to ensure you are happy with her cleaning service. We cook in this villa every day (at least one meal) which means we use all the equipment provided including the BBQ.

The pool is ideal for cooling down after a hot day and it also has an outside bathroom with toilet and shower which is extremely handy for pool days. There are numerous pool side chairs and a parasol to give necessary shade. In addition, outside, there is a utility room housing a washer, dryer and sink. The outside pool lights look beautiful at night. The perimeter of the property has mature shrubs and palm trees which make it more private and are well kept with a gardener visiting frequently.

The internet is secure and dependable. There are three televisions, one in each of the bedrooms and a large set in the living area and in addition, there is a land line.

The property management company are on site, based at the golf club house, and are easily contactable and quickly resolve any issues that may arise.

Over the years, it has been well maintained with improvements made. We always stay here. It offers good value for money on a secure and private estate. We would not hesitate to recommend this to family and friends alike and look forward to booking again next year

Invitingly, comfortable and quite. This place is home away from home for me. It’s a lovely feeling to return here every year never being disappointed. If you’re ever looking for something cozy, comfortable and clean this is the place. Very helpful management team just a phone call away to answer any questions or assist with anything.

Paradise on earth, outstanding property and location.

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my girlfriend spent two weeks at this property and everything was just wonderful. The property is well presented and fully equipped, we particularly enjoyed the pool, the barbecue, alfresco dinning with the pool and garden lit up.

The car hire with Roger went very smoothly and we enjoyed tripping round the beautiful island.

The golf course is stunning and challenging and is immaculately presented at very reasonable rates including a buggy.

The property is sandwiched between the ocean and the golf course. What a location!!

We definitely intend to visit again.

Great location. Property needs updates and repairs, mainly from leaks.

The Plantation in general is a really nice place to stay while in Tobago. We've stayed there 3 times now, including Magdelena Grand Resort. Although the Villas are pretty nice, this one had its issues with water leaks from the AC units and under the sink. Furniture and appliances are a bit dated, & pretty basic. Place is comfy, and wired well for internet and cable. Pool was also nice, heated with lights, though small, thru-out all Villas of this kind. Beach access is very close, with beautiful scenery, but not really swimmable due to rocky terrain. Lastly, golf course was worst condition i've seen it in, having played there twice before this trip. Easy to see that course is not being well maintained. Property Management also helped us with crib and good recommendations to local scene.

Owner's Response: Dear Reader Please note that all guests are given the contact details of our Property Manager. If there are any maintenance issues, which are rare but can of course happen, they are to be reported. Our property manager will promptly arrange for the appropriate maintenance to take place at minimum disruption to our guests. This guest unfortunately experienced a couple of leaks from the air-con. He chose not to report these leaks because he thought the maintenance work might disturb his vacation! We do not want guests like this who do not properly respect our property. The Golf Course is normally presented in pristine fashion. This September however the Caribbean suffered horrendous climactic conditions. Although Tobago missed the worst with the hurricanes passing a good way North, as they tend to do, course maintenance was understandably very difficult in this period.

A home away from home in a gorgeous setting.

  • 5 of 5

This property was absolutely perfect. It was well situated and had all the conveniences of being at home. We were able to make breakfast for the kids some mornings while we ate at the hotel on other mornings.

The dishes were sensible as there were also plastic plates for the kids.

The plunge pool was an evening treat to cool down after a day at the beach.

Arrangements with the owner was excellent and he informed me of all pertinent info required for our stay.

I highly recommend this property to anyone.

Exceptional!

  • 5 of 5

Where do you start when the entire experience, from start to finish, was exceptional.

I'll start that the beginning. From the moment we requested a reservation, every interaction with Nigel was pleasant and helpful. He responded to all of our questions and provided us with all of the information we would need, from things to do to who to reach if we needed anything. That was so reassuring as this is the first time we've ever booked accommodations this way.

When we arrived at this gated property, we easily retrieved the key and found our way to the unit. This beautifully laid out property was extremely private and provided us with everything we needed. A fully equipped kitchen for my boyfriend who loves to cook, clean and well decorated rooms, a washer and dryer, a BBQ grill and much much more. Most of our evenings were spent sitting out on the deck next to the pool, even when it rained, as the deck is covered.

If I could rate this property any higher I would. We look forward to staying at this little piece of paradise again soon.
