The cottages central location is perfect for exploring old St Ives with its narrow streets scattered with many art galleries, great restaurants, shops and pubs. About Julie Atkinson

I have always loved St Ives and when the opportunity arose to move here I grabbed it with both hands! Myself, my sister and brother in law bought Corner Cottage and although they never got to move here themselves......I did and have lived in St Ives now for over eleven fabulous years. I love it. Julie.

Julie Atkinson purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Julie Atkinson chose Saint Ives

We bought Corner Cottage as we loved the house and it is in such a fabulous location. The Digey is a lovely old cobbled street and is in the very heart of the town, the area commonly know as Downalong. The place is full of character, with narrow streets and lanes just waiting to be explored. There are superb shops and restaurants practically on your doorstep. Added to that the beach is just a stones throw away from the cottage and you can literally see the sea from the front door....how fabulous is that?! Not to mention that the harbour and the other beautiful beaches that surround Downalong are all within a ten minute walk.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is located in The Digey right in the heart of St Ives and is on the sunny side of the street. It has a light and airy feel and although not 'enormous' the cottage does benefit from being bigger than some of the other cottages in the immediate area. Being one floor up from street level this also gives a measure of privacy.

You can open the stable door, sit on the step, catch some rays, read a book or just people watch. Or, just stand and gaze at the sea. Something I've done many a time myself!

A Cornish gem

  • 5 of 5

What a delight, from the moment we arrived, and walked through the door, we fell in love with this charming, well presented cottage. Everything you needed had been thought about, and what a bonus to have both

quality equipment, and tasteful decor, this rarely happens in our past experiences!! Lovely comfortable bed, great bath, we could go on and on, but all this plus sun every day, has made our holiday at Corner Cottage one to remember, and to repeat. Thank you once again Julie and Jayne

A great holiday in a lovely cottage in the centre of St Ives, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Corner Cottage is a gorgeous character cottage with everything you could wish, for a comfortable stay in this amazing holiday destination. We were impressed by the owners who replied very promptly to a request for a lighter weight duvet, providing one very quickly. The cottage is very well equipped warm and cosy with a living flame gas fire which we benefited from, our visit being in October! The cottage was very clean and well kept, the decor of a high standard. We particularly benefitted from the designated car park space in a car park not too far from the cottage, this was great saving us time and money! The cottage is in the Digey which is central to St Ives and minutes from Fore St the main shopping street and also from Porthmeor beach which pleased the surfing husbands! Amazing to walk to and from the beach in the wetsuit, board in hand!!! No driving involved! The cottage is very close to all the amenities, cafes and coffee shops. It is a thoroughfare from the harbour to Porthmeor Beach and the 'Tate' gallery, but this didn't cause any issues 'noise wise'. The fact that the cottage is up a flight of steps accessed outside, meant that we felt very private as passers by couldn't see into the rooms. There is a view of the sea from the front door which was lovely!

We would highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay...unless, of course, its the weeks we want for our next visit..we will fight you for it!!!

Lovely character cottage in great location for the high street and surfing beach.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great except for the dishwasher packed up on us and one of the doubles had a winter duvet. Nice view/glimpse of the surf from the top of the steps outside the front door. Kitchen and sitting room both lovely. Would highly recommend this for two couples or for a family of four.

Another return to this excellent cottage. Enjoyed my birthday with my family. Weather reasonable for the time of the year. Once again recommend the steaks at the Sloop. Made very welcome at Cafe Art in the Drill Hall. Made more friends on this holiday. Will be back.

With its temperate climate and with not one but five golden sandy beaches, clear Atlantic waters and fabulous coastal scenery, it can't fail to impress. It's narrow streets, fashionable shops, restaurants, bars an cafe's all make St Ives a must visit destination.
