You are cordially invited to rent 'Mole End', our house in Woodbridge. It is a ten minute cycle or twenty minute stroll from the railway station, interesting shops, places to eat and the waterfront. The town has a cinema and theatre. Woodbridge is a fascinating and picturesque town on the north shore of the River Deben in Suffolk. It is an ideal base for boating, cycling, walking and birdwatching. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Strictly NO SMOKING. MAXIMUM STAY: 2 WEEKS. There is a secure space for storing a dinghy in the garden and launching and mooring can be arranged and/or temporary membership of the Deben Yacht Club; contact us for details.

We live in rural Shropshire and enjoy our sojourns in East Suffolk, sailing, rowing, walking and cycling. We also like having the railway station so we can explore further afield without having to resort to the car.

We love being able to share our house so that others can enjoy this peaceful corner of England.

We love East Anglia with its huge skies, tidal esturies and flocks of waders and wildfowl. We enjoy being able to sail and row on the Deben, cycle around the delightful countryside and walk along the sea wall and beyond. Mole End gives us the opportunity to do all these things.

Mole End is like a 'home from home'. It is warm, comfortable and convenient. An ideal base for all kinds of holidays.

This area is particularly suited for boating, bird-watching, cycling and walking. There are many beautiful towns and villages in the vicinity. There are painting courses available locally.

Coast/Beach:

One mile to the waterfront at Woodbridge. Felixstowe or Aldeburgh have beaches and are about ten miles away. Southwold is twenty six miles away.

Travel:

London Stansted Airport is 60 miles away. Harwich ferry terminal is 33 miles away. Woodbridge railway station is one mile away and is one and a half hours from London Liverpool Street Station. There are taxis outside the station. You can enjoy a fulfilling holiday here without resorting to a car.

Distances:

London 80 miles, Ipswich 8 miles, Birmingham 156 miles, Norwich 50 miles.

Sutton Hoo is one mile away, Snape Maltings is 10 miles, Flatford Mill 22 miles, Minsmere 22 miles.

Further Details:

Woodbridge has a wide range of delightful, small shops and restaurants. All the main banks are here, there are cafes and coffee shops, an exceptional bookshop with cafe, two medium sized supermarkets, a violin maker, antique shops and boutiques. Just around the corner from Mole End there is a Post Office and general store that opens late. There are Farmers' Markets on Thursdays and some Saturdays. There is a swimming pool, tennis courts and sailing and rowing clubs. There are also boat yards and an ever-changing river scene with sailing boats and other small craft always on the water. A boating lake caters for the model boat enthusiast. There is mullet fishing on the River Deben, beach fishing from Felixstowe and Aldeburgh and sea fishing trips run from Orford Quay. For devotees of Benjamin Britten, there are concerts and events taking place at Snape Maltings. Woodbridge Tide Mill is open throughout the season.

There is an allocated parking space for the house. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed sheet, pillow slips and duvet cover supplied. The house is cleaned before and after each booking. Other: Conservatory containing table and chairs leading from sitting room and into the garden.

A charming little house...

We had a delightful stay in this charming little house. It was ideal for the two of us - compact, well equipped and very comfortable. It was lovely to sit out in the conservatory to have breakfast and to relax after a day out. We loved it.

Compact comfortable house.

We stayed at Mole End for a week during the autumn. Although tiny the house is lovely: light-filled and warm with many well-thought-out details such as information on the local area and relevant literature. The kitchen is well equipped and we made some nice meals and ate them in the conservatory. The house is situated in an extremely quiet but friendly estate.

It is a 20 minute walk, mostly along pleasant footpaths, from the centre of Woodbridge. We highly recommend Honey and Harvey cafe for fantastic coffee and cakes. Walking along the river was beautiful and we also enjoyed walking into the local countryside. It was a real pleasure not to have to drive.

The owners were helpful and replied promptly to emails. The spiral staircase would make this house inaccessible to some people. The only other drawback really is that the bed is a very small double and if you are 6' or over your feet might hang over the end!

Booking Notes:
Please email or phone to book. Payment by cheque, Faster Payment or PayPal. If booking in advance, please make a non-returnable £40 deposit per week and pay the balance a month before the booking starts. Otherwise, full payment on booking please.
Stays of three to five nights are possible; please enquire for rates. Maximum stay is 2 weeks.
Cancellation fees;
2-4 weeks – 50% of rate refunded
Less than 2 weeks – no refund

Changeover Day:
Saturday is preferred. Arrivals from 3.30pm, departures by 10.30am.

Notes on prices:
3 nights stay is £185; additional nights are £50 per night. 4 nights: £235, 5 nights: £285

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
