About Roberto Becucci
My name is Roberto, I am 52, I'm happily married and have a beautiful daughter 20 years. I was born in San Gimignano and when I got married I went to live in the countryside, the house left by my grandparents, in a great location about 800 meters from the city. With so many sacrifices, together with my wife and my brother, we have restored an old barn, where we made three nice apartments now rent for our guests.
Why Roberto Becucci chose Val d'Elsa
The farmhouse and barn were built in 1926 by the grandparents. In 1987 we renovated the farmhouse, where they now live with my family and in 2007 we renovated the old barn. Is located in a very quiet location, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves 800 meters from the medieval city.
What makes this Apartment unique
When staying at our house you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside and you will enjoy an enchanting view of the towers of San Gimignano. Also you have the possibility to reach the city on foot, along a quiet scenic road and told by our guests, many of whom return to us for several years, the value for money is very good.

Made to feel like family.
The property was exactly as described and perfect for our holiday. Very well located with easy access to San Gimignano. The pool was so welcome on the lovely sunny days.Roberto and Nadia keep everything looking pristine and tried their best to ensure we had a fantastic time.
Could not have been better!
We are a mature couple, on honeymoon and we stayed for a week. We were welcomed like members of the family and even had personal welcoming touches such as flowers, wine and "Just Married" placed on the large comfy bed. We even had the use of their private swimming pool which was a godsend as the area was in the middle of a heatwave! We both loved the apartment which was modern, comfortable and well equipped, a real home from home. The views from the private garden were fabulous, and the historic town of San Gimignano was only a 15 minute walk away, so we were able to sample local wines without the worry of driving back. We hope one day to return to this little gem and see our new friends again.
The perfect base for holidaying / touring Tuscany
We had a really lovely week staying here. The location is perfect for the town of San Gimignano and for driving around and through the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Our accommodation was perfect. The cooking facilities were excellent with a good range of utensils should you wish to self cater. Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower more than adequate.
Nadine and Roberto greeted us on arrival and were very warm and friendly. They also came to see us before we left which was also a very nice gesture. Perfect accommodation, perfect hosts. I would certainly recommend Podere degli Olivi as the best place to stay in this beautiful pasrt of the world.

Bliss in Tuscany
We were very lucky to have chosen this location to spend three weeks exploring Tuscany as part of a year long tour of Europe.
The location is first class, sandwiched between Florence and Siena, both easily reached by car, train or coach for days when you want explore, or within a 10- 15 minute walk you are in the stunning medieval town of San Gimignano which bustles with lively bars, shops and restaurants. So, if you would like a day of rest at home sunbathing in the beautiful gardens and a stroll out to a restaurant in the evening without having to take a car - this is most definitely the place for you. The location is tranquil, without being isolated and the accommodation, whilst quite compact, is beautifully furnished in the traditional style of the area. The surrounding landscape is a stunning patchwork-quilt of olive trees and vines with the towers of San Gimignano only a stones throw away.
Finally, we have to say a word about our hosts, Nadia, Roberto and Silvia, their daughter, were an absolute delight. Helpful, friendly, warm and welcoming both to us and our two dogs who are along for the ride. Thank you for all your kindness and laughter, you were wonderful!
Thanks Wendy and Richard. We were really happy to have had our guests.
We hope to see you again.
Roberto, Nadia, Silvia
Bella location maa....
Special interest holidays:
Here everything is an expression of life in touch with nature. One will find a special corner of Tuscany, beautiful to admire, to take a picture of and to remember and places to get to know or to discover. S. Gimignano “the town of the beautiful towers”, which takes its name from the canonised Bishop of Modena who saved the town from the Goti invasion, is situated in the province of Siena, 325 metres above sea level. S. Gimignano stands on the site of a small Etruscan settlement dating from the Helleneistic period (third to second century B. C). Thanks to the Via Francigena which runs through the town, it developed considerably in the surrounding with an increasing number of churches and monasteries. The road opened by the Longobards along the old Via Cassia and after controlled by the French became the main road to connect Rome with the North of Europe. In 1199 the town became a free commune, ridding itself of the domination of the Bishop of Volterra.
It’s also interesting to discover the old and suggestive medieval castles and the old abbeys which maintain intact the fashion of the past. Around 70/80 kilometres away one will find seaside towns such as Follonica and Castiglione della Pescaia and the Island of Elba or continuing towards the south one will arrive at the famous Argentario coast, with its famous places such as Porto Ercole and Porto S. Stefano from which one can take a ferry to the splendid Island of Giglio.
For the strategic position of S. Gimignano it’s easy to reach artistic towns such as Florence (45 km), Siena (25 km), Volterra (25 km), Pisa (60 km), Lucca (70 km), with their small & large museums and churches, where one is surrounded by beauty and perfection, discovering uncountable traces of art which developed greatly between the 14th & the 15th century. Also fascinating to visit are the touristic localities such as the upper part of Certaldo, Colle Val d’Elsa (10 km), Monteriggioni (15 km)
At about 800 meters from our hotel there is a supermarket. In the historical centre of San Gimignano there are n. 3 banks, an internet point, information centres for tourists and many bars, restaurants and shops of various kinds.
