About Nicci Millar

Hello we are The Millar Family - Jonny, Anna, Jemima (looking grumpy in the pouch), Nicci - and we own and run Copperpot Cottage. Apart from a gorgeously cosy cottage, we have local knowledge which we'd be happy to share to help make your stay really special. Just ask.

Nicci Millar purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Nicci Millar chose Northern Ireland

Copperpot Cottage is a traditional-style Irish stone cottage and picture-postcard pretty.

It's in the heart of peaceful countryside - you wake up to only the sound of the birds singing. Yet, just a mile and a half away is Portrush.

The beaches are all soft sand with magical views towards the Scottish Isles and the coastal drives are spectacular. It's a lovely part of the world.

What makes this cottage unique

Even if its mid-summer, stoke up the magnificent wood burning stove, grab a glass of wine and enjoy the moment!

Copperpot is the type of place you don't want to review to selfishly keep it a well kept secret. But it is so tasteful, homely and ideally located that it is difficult to resist that temptation. We have never stayed in a place that felt as much like a second home. Thank you to the owners for all the extra touches, from kids toys to milk and preping the fire.

— Jason and Maryann, 29 Mar 2015

We stayed at Copperpot Cottage over Christmas and New Year. It was fabulous and the kids loved the place. The Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch. We will be back!

— Michael Mulligan, 06 Jan 2015

We stayed at Copperpot cottage September 2014. What a beautiful cottage and beautiful part of the world. It was the perfect home from home, with everything we needed for our 1 year old. We'll be back for sure.

— Helen harte, 16 Oct 2014

Our family stayed at this cottage for a week in July 2014. We could not have stayed in a better holiday home, it was close to everything we wanted to do , 10 minute walk to shops and close to beach, great for children and families for a great holiday on the Antrim coast, Nicci greeted us with a warm welcome with fresh baked bread and wine which was a nice touch. The only regret we had was not booking for another week, Thank you Nicci and jonny x

We have just returned from a week at Copperpot Cottage. The cottage was amazing we were sorry to leave and could have stayed forever. The cottage was perfectly located for our first family holiday. Nicci and Jonny made us feel very welcome with some very thoughtful personal touches for both us and our baby. I will definitely recommend Copperpot Cottage to my family and friends and we look forward to a return visit with our second baby in the future.

Had a lovely stay in Copperpot Cottage.

The cottage is surprisingly spacious but still very cosy. A real home from home and nothing was too much bother for Nicci.

I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone!

— Alan, 23 Sep 2013

3 days was not long enough to appreciate both the delights of this beautiful cottage and the wealth of local activities and wonderful scenery. Our host Nicci could not have been more welcoming. She and Johnny have done a great job providing everything you could possibly wish for in a holiday cottage, loved the big open plan kitchen and sitting room, didn't get chance to light a fire in the lounge next door, perhaps next time. Great to have 2 separate living rooms though. Best place we've ever stayed in.

Wonderful long weekend at Copperpot Cottage

  • 5 of 5

From my initial enquiry about the property I just knew it would be really good. The emails I received from Nicci were very friendly and helpful, she answered any queries very quickly. On our arrival at the cottage we were met by Nicci's husband Jonny who was very welcoming, showed us round and made sure we were happy with everything - which we were! The cottage is so spacious, very well appointed and certainly deserves my 5 star rating. It has a lovely comfortable ambience and is the perfect place to relax at the end of a day's sight seeing. It is about 30 minutes walk from Portrushe but is in a perfect location, very quiet but near enough to facilities so as not to be a problem. We were only there for 3 nights so Friday night walked down into Portrushe and ate at Ramore's Harbour Bistro. It's a brilliant system, you can't book in that particular restaurant (there are a few together all under the same ownership) so they give you an approximate time and a raffle ticket as proof of having put your name down on the waiting list (!). You then head off and wait in one of the bar areas (the gin bar comes highly recommended - such a selection!) and your name and number are called out over the tannoy system when your table is ready. We only had to wait about half an hour on a Friday evening and the place was packed. Saturday we did all the sights, Giant's Causeway, rope bridge at Carrick a Rede, the Dark Hedges (Game of Thrones) and the Harbour Cafe at Ballintoy. If you are a cake lover, do not miss this one! All home made and very good. Long day so we stopped off at Lidl for some supplies and ate in on Saturday eve and enjoyed the bottle of wine from Nicci and Jonny. Sunday we went to the Bushmills Distillery, well worth a visit, only about 40 mins for the tour but very interesting. Then Port Stewart for a good walk along the stunning beach. Sunday night we ate at 55 Degrees North in Portrushe, managed to get a table in the window so enjoyed the fabulous views and sunset. The meal was good, and we went back to their cafe below for breakfast on the Monday morning - excellent. All in all we had an absolutely brilliant weekend and hope to return soon. You won't be disappointed if you book Copperpot Cottage. Thanks Nicci and Jonny for such a brilliant weekend.

Gorgeous cottage in a very convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

We love this cottage! This was our first visit but we will be returning! The owners were warm and welcoming right from our first enquiry. Copper pot cottage is really well equipped with a very generous welcome pack and a well stocked larder. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay really comfortable. The fresh flowers and wine were a lovely touch. Plenty of space with 2 sitting rooms, and 3 comfortable bedrooms. We loved warming up in front of the wood burning stove after a day in the crisp autumn air! We really appreciated the convenient location of this property, yet it is quiet with a lovely little garden and secure parking for 2 cars. Looking forward to returning to this special place very soon!

Comfortable cottage - quiet yet close to town

  • 4 of 5

Copper Pot Cottage is clean, tastefully decorated, quiet, and has all the basics. There is a sitting area with a TV just off the kitchen and a separate parlor, which is nice for a bigger group who might include adults wanting a little separation from the kiddies. Numerous sights, activities, groceries and restaurants are an easy drive away. One comment about the entertainment - the TV is basic, not cable, so not much on hand sportswise. Also, the ensuite bathroom is a bit on the small side, but still serviceable if you are not a large person. The owners are very responsive and helpful, which is a plus. Would stay there again, especially since the rate is quite reasonable for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house.

Copperpot Cottage....hidden gem in portrush

  • 5 of 5

This property is in an excellent location just about a mile from Portrush town centre. It is in walking distance, which is a bonus, and offers great parking on site at the rear of the property. It is very well equipped throughout especially in the kitchen. Its' decor is very cosy and inviting and we were very comfortable there during our stay.

The owners were very welcoming and were able to share local knowledge on the area. I would not hesitate to recommend the cottage and hope to visit again in the future.

Beautiful and cosy cottage close to Portrush.

  • 4 of 5

Very clean and well equipped property. The supply of all the basic provisions (bread, milk, tea, coffee etc) so often absent in holiday lets was a lovely touch. The cottage was ideal for children with a great selection of kids toys and DVDs. Location great for exploring the north coast and only 1 mile from Portrush. All in all a great spot to stay. Would say Amici on the edge of Portstewart was the best meal out we had all week. Tides which was highly rated didn't live up to its reputation.

Gorgeous cottage in Portrush

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Copperpot Cottage. It was well-equipped and very comfortable, with plenty of room for the six adults who were staying. Just close enough to the town and beach to be convenient, and on the edge of the countryside so that it wasn't too overlooked. A wonderful place to stay on our first real visit to Northern Ireland!

Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery: Join a tour of the distillery to observe the craft of traditional Irish whiskey making and sample the goods too.

Ballintoy Harbour: A picture-postcard pretty harbour with a pocket-sized tea room and magical views. Much-loved by walkers, this is the most celebrated part of the Causeway Coast.

Whitepark Bay Beach: The spectacular sandy beach forms a white arc between two headlands including the tiny salmon-fishing village of Portbraddan. The beach is backed by ancient dunes rich in bird and animal life. Enjoy lazy summer days, picnics, making sandcastles and long walks along this truly beautiful beach.

Portrush is well known for its three sandy beaches, the West Strand, East Strand and White Rocks (blue flag), just a mile and a half from the cottage. They are popular with surfers and have several surf schools.

From personal experience, the bustling Ramore Wine Bar offers a broad, well-priced menu (children welcome) and 55 Degrees North is a good option for afternoon tea with great views (children welcome). Further afield, Tartine in Bushmills offers delicious food and an interesting wine list.
