About the owner I live in England with my partner and 2 miniature Dauschaunds. Both my children are grown up. We spend all of our holidays in Italy where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country.
Why David chose Ceglie Messapica
The area is surprisingly green and very heavily wooded with small hill top towns all with their own character. Outside of August when the Italians are on holiday, the area is largely unspoilt and you won't find a McDonalds or Starbucks! The locals are incredibly helpful and have that precious commodity - time - to help you. Here the Italians celebrate their local saints during August and each town hosts a variety of entertainers local and international throughout the month. It feels different and you will experience a Southern European way of life and you are only 45 minutes from Brindisi airport.
What makes this Villa unique
Unique benefits of the property Your house is private but not isolated and the gardens are secluded and you will enjoy far reaching views across the gently sloping land all around the property. Being only 5 kms from Ceglie you can access all the conveniences of the town and could dine out in a different restaurant every night during a month's stay from the very cheap and simple to Michelan star excellence! The property has central heating.
Pool / Spa
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this villa in August for a week's holiday, with our four children and nanny. The owner, David, was very friendly, cheerful and obliging and responded immediately to any requests we had. He provided extremely useful write-ups on the area regarding sightseeing tips, restaurant and beach recommendations etc....we didn't even need a guide book! All the recommendations we followed were excellent. The villa is exactly as shown on the photos (interior is nicely decorated, pool is very clean, villa was extremely clean upon arrival and David kindly provided a very thoughtful welcome basket in the kitchen). The biggest plus point in our opinion was the location, set in a beautiful olive tree plantation area (wonderful to go for early morning/evening jogs). Temperatures were very high so the air conditioner in the bedroom area proved to be a godbless. The children very much enjoyed the babyfoot in the games room. The fruit trees in the garden were also lovely, we enjoyed the fresh figs. It is very peaceful and the security of the villa is very good ( strong, metal entrance door, all windows have metal bars...making a break- in very difficult). The local PAM supermarket in Ceglie Messapica provided everything we needed but eating out proved to be so good and cheap that we would advise against stocking up much the kitchen (make a visit to nearby Villa Kaila for their fantastic pizzas and risotto...beautiful setting and very reasonably priced). The location of the villa is perfect for exploring the region, quite centrally located with regard to visiting Alberobello (beautiful but touristic), Martina Franca (lovely town), Ostuni (stunning) and the further away Lecce (well worth the grip), Gallipoli (lovely beaches but avoid the castle visit, proved to be disappointing and not worth the money), Sassi di Matera (spectacular, not to be missed). The nearby town, Ceglie Messapica, has excellent and cheap restaurants as it is less touristic than other towns like Alberobello. Beaches are very crowded in August, we discovered a private beach club close to Monopoli called Lido Tamerici (60 euros for 2 sunbeds and umbrella but well worth it...excellent restaurant on site). We also visited the cow farm in Ceglie Messapica which sells local cheese produce called Masseria Seppunisi (many mozzarella varieties....make sure you try the creamy straciatella...). All in all we would highly recommend the villa and this region for a holiday
Thank you for the positive feedback on both the Villa and region. We are always so pleased when we receive feedback like this making what we do so worthwhile. Hopefully we can welcome you back in the future. Look at our latest Villa.

Perfect rural retreat
Had a fabulous relaxing fortnight at the villa. Its located a little off the beaten track which offered privacy and peace and quiet (apart from the odd tractor and the noise of the crickets !). The owners met us in the local village and directed us to the house and explained how everything worked. It is exactly as described on the advert. There were plenty of towels and bed linen and the rental involved a mid stay clean. The welcome pack was much appreciated as we'd had a late flight and did not have the opportunity to buy supplies. There was a minor issue whilst we were there but was dealt with promptly by the owners. Although the pool isn't olympic sized it was perfect for cooling off as it was extremely hot. The nearest town is around 15 mins drive away an offers a taste of Italian rural life and is very cheap to eat out.. As we had a late flight home on our departure date the owners allowed us to stay on at the villa until the early evening which made a massive difference to the final day. I would definitely return to this property as it very quickly felt like home. Thank you to David and Andrew for your hospitality
Quiet Olive groves
Nice place, lovely location.....if you like
Olive and fig trees. Cool off in the pool and watch the stars in the evening
Family Holiday in Puglia
The villa was set amongst olive groves and although there were neighbours you felt as if you were in a rural retreat that was very private. The garden was pleasant, with different spots to relax under the trees, we all enjoyed picking the figs and almonds from the trees. The villa was comfortable and suited our family very well, the veranda provided a good chill out zone for the evenings and sitting around the pool during the day was very relaxing. Although small the pool provided plenty of opportunities for entertaining the youngsters.
The villa was clean with all the amenities we needed. Most importantly our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, they were always ready to help out and responded
The property was peaceful and secluded, ideal for escaping the busy town.
The owner was very welcoming and gave us plenty of information to make the best of our stay. The property was clean and well maintained with plenty of outside space and seating. We enjoyed the festival in ceglie Messapica which included a procession and music. Alberobello was an amazing sight with all the Trulli worth a visit.
Family Holiday - August 2015
I wouldn't normally review a stay or a trip but given the quality of holiday we have just had I felt I had too.
The place was excellent and just as shown and described on the website. The garden is great for kids with plenty of nooks to explore and they had a great time harvesting olives and almonds. The place itself is lovely and a great place to be and is well maintained and very clean and the welcome pack was comprehensive (a welcome change from so many).
The owners were fantastic. The information they provided prior to arrival was comprehensive and provided great reviews and suggestions on things to do and places to go. Also whenever we needed anything they provided first class support.
I would recommend this place to anybody as it is the fiirst time we have been made to feel like house guests and not paying guests.
If you have kids the beach at Lido Bizzarro is great and Fasanoland is absolutely brilliant (you can get on great rides without a queue!). Also the little 3 wheel taxi ride round the old centre of Ostuni is an absoluute must.
