About the property

Cottage nr Dartmouth, Devon, England - Village Location, Excellent Coastal Walks, 10 Minutes Walk To The Beach

Palm Cottage is a beautifully restored period cottage with a garden. It has been recently renovated. It sleeps 6/8 in 3 bedrooms. It features an open plan living area with under floor heating and an inglenook fireplace with a wood stove. There is 20 minute parking outside the cottage and plenty of additional long term parking close by. It is in the pretty coastal village of Stoke Fleming which overlooks Start Bay and it is only a 10 minute walk to the award winning blue flag beach Blackpool Sands where you can find a great cafe and a variety of water sports during the summer months. The village has a useful shop/Post Office that stocks organic bread and local vegetables, meat and dairy products. It also has a popular pub, the Green Dragon which serves good pub meals. A 5 minute drive away is the naval ancient town of Dartmouth. It is well known for its quaint cobbled streets, restaurants and art galleries. It also holds many festivals and events throughout the year.

About yolanda de glanville

I live in Bath with my husband and 3 boys. I am a teacher and have spent many summers in Devon where we have family and enjoy the beaches and walks.

yolanda de glanville purchased this house in 2000

Why yolanda de glanville chose South Hams

We bought Palm Cottage because we love to get away and be by the sea. We have only recently (April 2013) began to rent it after refurbishment. It is only a couple of hours from our home town. It is a beautiful area with many walks and wonderful pubs nearby.

What makes this house unique

We are very close to Blackpool Sands Blue Flag beach and Dartmouth. The village we are in has plenty of amenities and there are many coastal walks nearby. The cottage has been recently refurbished with a woodstove and underfloor heating. The cottage is particularly suitable for children with toys, games and a good selection of dvds.

Fab cottage in a super location.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our break in Cosy Palm Cottage. It was clean, pretty, well equipped and very relaxing. The flexible layout worked very well for two families staying together for a short break. It's in a super location, we loved being able to walk to the nearby beach and it was a real bonus being a ten minute drive to beautiful Dartmouth. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely place for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nights after Easter at Palm Cottage and explored the local area. My first impression of the cottage was that it was much larger than I was expecting, I could have brought a whole bunch of children with me as the children's room at the top of the house could have slept four or five! The double room which my parents shared looked absolutely gorgeous, I was very jealous! The sitting room was very comfy, I liked the underfloor heating and the kitchen was very well appointed. The cottage was very clean and tidy and it was nice that there were toys and games which my children could use. Although the weather was a bit cold when we stayed we felt cosy in the cottage. It was easy to unload outside the cottage and then move the car up to the parking area.

There is plenty to do in the local area, the children enjoyed the ferries and the steam train. We walked to Blackpool Sands on the first evening but it was not exactly "beach weather"! The local shop is very handy and there are plenty of supermarkets in Dartmouth. Stoke Flemming is a pretty village and there are plenty of walks straight from the cottage.

I would recommend Palm Cottage to any other family looking for a special place to stay in the area, we will remember our holiday for years to come.

Weekend break

  • 4 of 5

Great location and well appointed property. Lives up to the description and very quiet village but easy to access local area. Property had everything you need. Shame that both showers cannot be used at once but for a family of 4 it was fine. Parking nearby worked okay and it was lovely to be so close to a decent pub and the local walks. Please note that the walk back from the lovely Blackpool Sands beach is uphill all the way so allow a little longer.......or was that just the cooked breakfast at the Venus Cafe weighing me down :0). Contact with the owner was great and everything went to plan. Would definitely consider a return visit both for location and property
