The land Ca La Mercè stands on has been in the owners’ family for many generations. They built their family home here because they loved the view, across olive groves, fields and woodland to the coastal hills and sea at Castell beach and El Crit, a rocky cove where the family kept their fishing boat.

Ca La Mercè is a traditional Catalan family house which has been fully refurbished to a high standard with new bathrooms & kitchen.

What makes this villa unique

Ca La Mercè is welcoming & comfortable, well-equipped & attractively decorated & furnished. The rustic style furniture includes hand painted pieces by Empordà artist Josep Martinell & there are several artworks by Granada artist Angel Campinya. The outdoor areas combine privacy with an open aspect & the pool is conveniently situated & well integrated into the garden & terraces. The annex is completely independent so guests can enjoy their privacy & have exclusive use of this lovely, well-maintained house & grounds while having the option of on-call assistance if required. Babysitting, bike hire, additional cleaning, shopping & cooking can be arranged on request. A welcome pack is supplied, plus toiletries for the beginning of your stay & a housebook full of local information.

Notes on accommodation: The villa is laid out one level with a single step from the kitchen and living/dining room to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The garden and pool area are on one level and can be accessed from the kitchen and living/dining room via patio doors. There are two steps up to additional sun terraces. There is a front door to the drive. There is secure electric-gated private access with ample parking for 4 cars. There is a self-contained adjoining annex below the villa, with its own entrance and private garden, where the house-manager is available if required to help guests get the most from their stay. The annex does not overlook Ca La Mercè. The grounds are fully enclosed with tree-lined wire fencing. Outside: Ca La Mercè has a private swimming pool (8 x 3m) with underwater lighting and a very shallow end for children – or for relaxing with a glass of something cool. The pool can be viewed from the terraces and garden. The lawned garden, with its shrubs, aromatic plants and flower beds, is surrounded by tall cypress trees, poplars, firs, cork and holm oaks, pines and bays, offering a choice of sun or shade and giving excellent privacy. The pool, garden, covered dining terrace and sun terraces face south and west, with lovely views. There is a BBQ off the dining terrace. There is outdoor dining furniture for 6 people, an additional garden table and chairs for 6 people, 6 sunbeds, and 6 garden chairs. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen, including pool towels, is provided and changed weekly. The house is cleaned and beds made up prior to guests’ arrival. Lovely villa and peaceful location

We very much enjoyed our holiday at this villa and have already planned another visit. This well equiped property is clean and tidy and a great deal of care has been taken by the owner to ensure a perfect holiday. There is plenty of outdoor space with secure parking area, and within easy reach by car to C-31 main road but far enough away in a sunny, secluded and peaceful location. Highly recommended.

Tout simplement parfaite !

Grâce à la gentillesse de Jania et de sa discrétion nous avons passé un séjour très agréable. La villa est très bien entretenue et décorée avec goût, la piscine extérieure peut être utilisée aussi bien de jour que de nuit. L'espace terrasse et jardin sont eux aussi les bienvenus les jours ensoleillés mais également plus gris ou pluvieux puisque qu'une partie est abritée. Le barbecue au gaz est pratique et renforce le goût des vacances!! La villa est située dans Mont-Ras, petit village calme et quelque peu reculé ( mais non loin des supermarchés, pharmacie, tabac...) La plage del Castell se trouve à moins de 10 minutes en voiture et c'est une des plus sauvage que nous avons découvertes sans parler de toutes les autres criques accessibles grâce à des chemins. Pour les éventuels intéressés je recommande vivement cette villa !! Couple(s), famille(s), ami(s) tout le monde y trouvera son compte !

Beautiful well-maintained villa with pool in a peaceful location, close to numerous lovely beaches

This villa was perfect for us. It was well-equipped and very clean with lots of character, and the outside areas were well thought out with a lovely sunbathing area by the pool, a barbecue and dining area shaded from the sun and beautiful grounds overall. It is close to several beautiful beaches and interesting villages, and the owner has provided a house book full of useful and interesting information, including even a few tapas recipes! There is also Wi-Fi and access to UK TV. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the children really loved the pool. The owner is a lovely lady who has gone the extra mile to make this the perfect holiday home for her guests - thank you Jania for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back some day!

Beautiful villa

We love this area of Spain and were delighted with the villa we booked this year. Perfect location for getting to the beautiful local coves and beaches but away from the busy areas. The villa was immaculately clean and tidy and very homely with lots of character, so much space outside to sit in the shade or lie on the sunbeds around the pool for a bit of sun worshipping, all very private. Jania, the owner, was lovely and very helpful and always on call if we needed anything. We have no hesitation in recommending this villa and we would love to go back to stay in the future.

Perfect house in a beautiful part of Spain

We love this house and garden. The house is tastefully decorated and furnished, and also provides a practical environment in which one feels instantly at home. Along with the garden and pool it provides all you need for a relaxing summer holiday venue. Jania, the owner, has provided a property of a very high standard. Even the little things, like the welcome pack of supplies, and the house documentation, are first-class. And Jania is on hand to give further advice on the locality if you need it.

Beaches are a short drive, or cycle ride, away. The house is well situated for lots of possible excursions and activities. Llafranc provides a busy town beach with plenty of opportunities for snorkelling etc; Calella de Palafrugell offers several beaches to choose from and is full of interest. Castell beach is out of town and totally unspoiled (the pop-up restaurants are surprisingly good.) The gardens at Cap Roig are splendid and inexpensive to visit. Further afield you can see the old towns of Pals, Begur and Besalú, or visit the memorable Salvador Dali museum in Figueres. The old centre of Girona city is also worth seeing.

Our family has stayed in this property four times and we are booking again. Even on our fourth visit we were finding lovely places in the area we had not seen before.

Wonderfully quiet and relaxing villa

Villa was beautifully decorated and well kitted out, we had everything we needed! Lovely peaceful and private location, wonderful to have forest walks up into the Gavarre behind the villa. Jania is lovely- extremely helpful and thoughtful. Looking forward to returning next year!

There are many beautiful beaches & coves within a few minutes of the villa. The sandy virgin beach of Castell (5 km), just north of Palamós, lies within a protected nature reserve. The lovely coastal villages of Llafranc (5 km), Calella de Palafrugell (4.7 km), Tamariu (6 km), Fornells (9.5 km), Sa Riera (11 km) Sa Tuna (13 km) have sandy beaches & rocky inlets. The renowned beauty spot of Aiguablava is a 20 minute drive away. La Fosca and Palamós (7 km) have long sandy beaches.


Nearest airport is Girona (Ryanair) and is approx 45 minutes drive away (47 km). Barcelona airport (Ryanair, Easyjet etc) (133 km) and Perpignan airport (Ryanair from Stanstead and Bristol) (115 km) are within 2 hours’ drive. For those who prefer to drive, Catalunya is easily accessible by road.


Nearest beach-side dining: Llafranc (5km), Calella de Palafrugell 4,7km. Palafrugell (daily fruit & veg market, colourful Sunday market) 2 km. Begur (stylish medieval town, chic shops, tapas bars & restaurants) 9 km. Figueras (Dalí museum) 50 km. Pals (delightful medieval village) 9 km. Girona (historic cathedral town, wonderful medieval quarter, fine restaurants, excellent shopping) 50 km. Palamós (fishing harbor & fish market, tapas bars, some of the best fish restaurants in the area) 7 km.

The area is a walkers’ paradise and the villa is located near one of many signposted walks. Choose from the Gavarres hills, the Empordá plain and coastal walks. Information and walking maps are supplied for guests at the property. The area is also excellent for cycling and mountain biking. Castell beach can be reached by the new “Green Way” for walkers and cyclists. Cycle hire can be arranged by the house-manager


Water sports are well catered for on the nearby beaches including sea kayaks, sailing, scuba diving and motor boat hire. There are many rocky inlets and coves that are excellent for snorkelling. Tennis and paddle can also be played locally (3 km)


The Baix Empordà plains are home to the beautiful medieval stone villages of Ullastret, Cruïlles, Torrent, Palau Sator, Peratallada, Pals and Fonteta. The Empordà is also known as Dali’s “Golden triangle” as three of his most important museums are located here: Dalí Musuem Figueras (51 km); Gala’s Castle Museum Púbol (21 km); Dalí House and Museum Cadaqués (advance booking recommended) (72 km). The centre of the local ceramics trade is in La Bisbal (12 km) which also has a lively market.


The pretty white-washed fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell plays host to the festival of “havaneras” or sea shanties, in the early summer, and to the Music Festival of Cap Roig in July and August. The Festival is set in the botanic gardens overlooking the sea - an opportunity to hear world class singers in a beautiful outdoor setting. Palamós fish market is worth visiting.

Bookings and payments can be arranged online, or directly with the owner by telephone or email. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance of 75% to be made 60 days before arrival. Cancellation policy is 60 days for full refund of the balance, and 30 days for 50% refund of the balance. A refundable breakages deposit of €300 cash (or pounds sterling equivalent) is required on arrival to be refunded on day of departure.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival after 10:00 and departure by 16:00.
