Dar Tigamino is a hand crafted Moroccan Villa situated in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, just 25 kilometres from the exciting hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. Nestled within 2 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with a large private pool, covered terraces and pool-house, this is the perfect family or friends 'get away' destination.
Dar Tigamino is just a 3.5 hour flight from the UK and a 25 minute transfer from the airport. Leave the UK on the early morning flight and you are there in time for lunch! As you get off the plane you are enveloped by the warmth of the sun and the exotic scent of Africa....you know you have arrived somewhere special. One of our team will be at the airport to greet you and take you to the house where our staff will be waiting to welcome you with cold drinks or a cup of Moroccan tea.
Make yourself at home in the large receptions rooms or on a covered terrace, explore the garden and find your corner of peace and tranquility. Cool off in the large swimming pool before sun-downers on the roof with extensive views of the Atlas Mountains... so close that you feel you can touch them. Take in a DVD or play a board game from our games cupboard, retire to your beautiful, well appointed bedroom with king size bed or twins with a room fan or air conditioning giving a gentle breeze to keep you cool.
The house boasts 4 bedroom suites and a single bedroom/dressing room. Each bedroom enjoys its own private terrace. There are comfortable and spacious open-plan living and dining areas and a large roof terrace with extensive views of the Atlas Mountains, which makes this the perfect combination of Moroccan authenticity and family home.
The Villa is fully staffed to help provide for your every need. The House Manager, who is called Mustapha, will appear whenever you need him and will assist with organising your holiday, for you, while you stay in our beautiful home - his job is to make sure that you have the holiday that you crave. Mustapha will organise cars, restaurants, guided walks, trips to Marrakesh etc. Our excellent cook is at hand to make your breakfast, which is included in the price of the villa, but also to prepare and cook all the other meals that you might require. The cook is very happy to do your shopping, on a cost basis, and make sure that you taste the delicious local Berber cuisine. We have a lovely maid, called Asma, who will clean the house and bedrooms every day you are there, she will also assist the cook by laying tables and clearing dishes.
So come and stay, soak up the culture, relax and be pampered, let your family and friends run free in a cool and safe environment, all under the African sun.
We are a Hertfordshire family consisting of my husband myself and 4 children. 2 Girls and 2 boys. My husband is a Chartered surveyor and I was a primary school teacher. We, as a family, have always loved to travel. We first went to Marrakesh and the surrounding area 19 years ago. We loved every moment. We felt safe and adored the people. When the opportunity arose for us to own our own home in the foothills of the Atlas mountain we jumped at it and have not regretted the decision for one second. The house is beautifully built, with every creature comfort that we could think of. We particularly wanted to make it child friendly so that all our children could use it as they became old enough. I think we have succeeded!
Kate Holland-Hibbert purchased this villa in 2010
We bought this house because it was close to the UK (3 hour flight) and it feels like you have gone away to an exotic location, with exotic smells and bright colors. We love the people and the surrounding area. We are close enough to Marrakesh to use all it's facilities but still be in a rural area. The house is in a gated community, with security, this is totally un-necesary but it gives great peace of mind especially when we are not there but also to some of our friends who are not so use to traveling in Africa.
Dar Tigamino is ultimately a wonderful family home. The house is fully equipped, for everyone of any age, to have fun.The ease of getting to it (30mins from the airport)takes away all the stress of getting there. Mustapha, our wonderful Concierge who has worked and looked after us for 4 years, will organize whatever you need to make a very special holiday. This villa is equipped with a swimming pool, Ping-pong table, Boules court, Volleyball court, tennis court, Gym, Haman, dvd player and board games galore.
Being in Africa means that you can be outside, to eat meals and enjoy yourself, all year round. The views from all the Villa are spectacular, especially in the winter months when the air is clear and the Atlas mountains are covered in snow. There are more than 6 terraces that you can eat on... that is almost one for every day of the week! In our view Dar Tigamino is the ultimate holiday home.
We were all absolutely speechless on arrival at the sheer size & beauty of the house. You have done the most incredible job & it is absolutely STUNNING. Everything from the curtains to the pictures & the most beautiful bathrooms. You have paid astounding attention to detail & missed nothing. The terraces & gardens are out of this world. We are already in love with it & wish we were here for a month!
We spent a week at Dar Tigamino last September and it was brilliant. A great place to spend time with friends or family !
Spent a fabulous week at this stunning home. I cannot recommend it enough!
We were a group of 8 looking for a sunny break away from England’s temperamental weather pattern and some peace, comfort and good food. Dar Tigamino was suggested by some friends and wow! – what a treat it was. Situated a mere 30 mins away from the bustle of Marrakesh, secure behind a wall and with security staff that act for the estate of 8 luxury houses, the peace was deafening! Not a squeak from the neighbours – only the cacophony of bird song to welcome in the new day conducted by the ever elusive Hoopoe. The several acres of garden have been beautifully designed and host a number of bird species and masses of colour. Secluded arbours and walkways connect fountains to boule pitch to volleyball/badminton court to swimming pool with its own dining area, a wide selection of seating and lying options - beanbags, beds, chairs and straw hats all of which were carefully lined up each morning as if on parade.
The house was as comfortable as they come with each suite of rooms having separate and secluded access to the garden and sitting out areas. We could be as social or private as we wanted. The internal decoration was exceptional, with its paintings and objets d’art guaranteed to cause one to dally in transit.
We made use of the communal tennis court on a regular basis (racquets and balls all laid on) and some even succumbed to a massage in the purpose built gym and massage parlour.
And then there were the staff – an embodiment of the sunny and welcoming climate. Led by Asma, her sister Kalima, cook Sana, gardener Ismail, there was no request too difficult or trying at any time of day or night – they apparently lived on site. Having daily visits from Mr Fix-it – Mustapha – to whom English seemed to be his first tongue - taxis, tips, trips and problems were all sorted with ease.
Dar Tig’s location away from, but in striking distance of, Marrakesh, and on the approaches to the Atlas was a definite bonus. The highlights of the city could, I felt, be covered by 2 half day trips after which the call of the pool became the more alluring. Within 10 mins drive was Gmate, the site of the former regional capital, swept away by a flood in AD1058 and reinstated as Marrakesh; the village of Ourika; the Anima gardens bang next door.
Sana's choice of menus was far better than any food we ate off site.
Dar Tigamino - 'my home' in Berber - made us all envious that it was not our own.
We had a wonderful time, I could not commend it more highly. The house itself is decorated to a very high standard and I cannot fault it. Comfy beds, crisp bed linen, helpful staff, delicious food...... everything we had hoped for and more. The grounds and pool are also stunning. There is so much to do in and around the area and everyone was friendly and helpful
I couldn't have loved our week-long stay at Dar Tigamino more - a wonderful house in a perfect location.
Getting there couldn't have been easier - a mere half an hour from the airport after a short flight, we were met by the super-organised and very friendly Mustapha who ensured all our plans were arranged in advance and meant that activities happened seamlessly, and made the overall stay relaxed, enjoyable and effortless.
The house was fantastic, with every mod-con one would need on holiday - comfortable, very spacious and authentically-decorated.
Being cooked for was a major bonus - delicious breakfasts, lunches and authentic Moroccan suppers - extremely reasonably-priced and excellent quality with very friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed.
We sampled the delights of trekking in the Atlas mountains with a guide, the Medina, a few lunches and suppers out in the nearby Marrakesh - but when one has such wonderful surroundings of Dar Tigamino, we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, evening drinks on the rooftop and even using the gym for the more motivated guests!
A heavenly week - amazing value for a truly luxurious holiday.
8 members of our family, consisting of three generations, aged from 19 to 85 years old, rented Dar Tigamino for a week. The layout of the house exceeded our expectations, it is a beautifully designed house and we wanted for nothing. The staff were charming, discrete and always helpful. The cook produced such good meals that we mainly ate in. The maintenance of the property is of the highest order. The garden, planted with scented plants, was a pleasure to behold. The owners were efficient and prompt in their replies to any queries. All members of our group thoroughly enjoyed their week in this lovely property, it was a great place to chill out. We would highly recommend it.
We rented this spectacular villa in July along with another family and had the most amazing time. It is truly luxurious with everything one could possibly need and in a tranquil rural location. The pool and landscaped gardens are beautifully designed, the latter brimming with exotic plants, and there's plenty to keep children occupied with a boule area, tennis court, table tennis and masses of space. Outdoor eating areas abound and I think we ate at three or four different locations. The villa is totally private but benefits from extensive views of the Atlas mountains, the foothills of which are only a five minute drive away. Inside, the villa is beautifully decorated and every bedroom is individual and pretty - no fighting over rooms! We went in the height of the summer for a blast of heat but it was never oppressively hot as this rural location tends to have a breeze. Trips to Marrakech are a must - only half an hour away - the souk is fascinating and the restaurants outstanding. We had a terrific holiday and would definitely recommend this villa. The owners seem to have thought of everything and it is in a wonderful location.
I was lucky enough to stay at Dar Tigamino as a guest of the owners.
The house is more than a holiday home, it is equipped to the highest standard with everything you need when you are away. No stone has been left unturned and each room is decorated beautifully with comfort in mind. There are many places to sit outside and all with their own unique charm. The pool area is gorgeous and ideal for lunch outside from the BBQ. There is a plentiful collection of books and games and there is a tennis court in the grounds, as well as table tennis, volley ball and boules so masses to do if you get bored of lying in the sun! Marrakech is only 30 minutes by car for extensive shopping in the Souk and other intriguing shops and an array of delicious restaurants. It also worth taking a trip up to the Atlas Mountains, for the views and a bit of exercise! I could not recommend this property more highly and the description on the website is spot on but even better to experience it first hand.
