We have some new additions to Nutley Farm for 2016. We have transformed the area in front of the cottages to provide Boules Court with seating surrounded by a pretty pergola.(Each cottage will have a set of Boules). We have also turned the Gatehouse into an activity room which houses a new full size table tennis table. You will also be able to purchase Nutley Farm sausages and bacon to accompany your free range eggs for your breakfast. Our Alpaca fleece has now been woven into excellent socks which are available to purchase. You can experience an Alpaca first hand by taking these lovely animals for a walk around the farm. We will also try and keep essential supplies e.g. milk, teabags and bread.
Situated in the Tadnol Heath Nature Reserve near Winfrith Newburgh on the edge of the magnificent Purbeck Countryside. Corfe Castle, Wareham and the fascinating Tynham Village as well as Monkey World are all close by. These beautiful cottages are dog friendly and have four star rating awarded by Visit Britain Self Catering Quality in Tourism.
All linen and towels are provided. You will have direct access from the farm on to the Nature Reserve where there are many rare species of birds. The property is light and airy with modern facilities including wifi.
Guests will be welcomed with a Hamper including fresh produce including eggs from our Nutley Farm chickens. Visitors can enjoy a horse and carriage ride (when booking a full week and subject to the weather) viewing the spectacular Hardy Countryside, courtesy of our majestic Friesian horse Ipon (advance booking advised). Both cottages are available to be rented together to provide accommodation for extended family or friends. You can find further information on our website www.nutleyfarm.co.uk.
I have lived in Dorset most of my life and actually lived at Nutley Farm as a child. I was lucky enough to purchase the farm back in the year 2000. Since then it has become my mission to build and improve what had become an unloved derelict site. Each year I try to add new benefits and improvements. It is hoped the property will now pass through more generations of the family.
Anne Roots purchased this cottage in 2000
Because of its unique situation and and the ability to be surrounded by wonderful wildlife and our own friendly animals.
We've had a great week, the cottage is lovely and in a perfect location - a great base to explore Dorset from, and a cosy place to come back to at the end of the day. The weather has been wonderful too , so all in all it's been a brilliant holiday! Thanks we would definitely recommend.
The accommodation provided everything you could ask for and the owner was very welcoming. There was plenty of space in the Cottage for our Labrador. A quiet environment but easy access to the whole coastline.
I loved the fact that it was peaceful yet not isolated as I was on my own also that it was possible to walk the dog straight from the cottage and enjoy the Heathland. Having animals around obviously makes it more interesting as there is something to watch. The owner is very friendly and caring making sure you enjoy your stay. The carriage drive is a real treat.
We had a wonderful stay in the cherry barns, the cottage is in a great location, monkey world is 5 mins up the road!! 10/15 mins to duddles door (we loved it there) and lulworth, 25 mins to Weymouth (great beach and lovely little town) and about 30 to Poole. Having a baby with us we found having a washing/dryer machine really useful! The welcome basket is such a lovely touch and yummy!! We a 100% will be back and will fully recommend to friends and family, finally Anne was a lovely host and we would like to say thank you for a great holiday! Many thanks
We had a lovely weeks stay at Cherry Barn. Perfect size for 2 adults, a pre schooler and a baby, all sharing the large one bedroom.
Everything we needed was available, with the owner, Anne, offering her assistance should we need anything further.
Carriage ride was fabulous and having a garden was brilliant.
Nutley Farm was a great base for our holiday. I was a little disappointed at the beginning as I had expected more farm animals. I would have liked to have seen ducks, chickens, pigs, cows, donkeys and others. Unfortunately possibly due to our schedule we did not have the chance to talk to the owner as much as I would have liked; but did speak to Lucy who was cheerful and helpful.
The property was well maintained and looked clean. In the bathroom I would have preferred a full shower screen across the bath and over the front door a curtain for added privacy. Otherwise there was everything we needed.
I would definitely recommend (have already done so) to our friends and relatives.
Our favourite places were West Bay, Shaftsbury, Lyme Regis, Corfe Castle and the Castle Inn where we had a great Rib Eye Steak. The nearby Winfrith Newburgh general stores and the owner Pascal were super.
I hadn't budgeted for spending close to £50 in ten days on car parking fees; but if the fees go to keeping the beautiful Jurassic coast graffiti clean it is well worth the outlay. Dorest is simply stunning and well worth a visit.
There is a wealth of places to visit in Dorset including the following:
The Tank Museum
The Blue Pool
Sealife centre and tower in weymouth
It is approximately half an hour drive to the National Trust Studland Beach. Lovely smaller coves are along the coastline.
We are near the lovely River at Moreton Village where T E Lawrence is buried.
There is a village shop in Winfrith Newburgh which is about half an hours walk.
The main county town of Dorchester with shops, banks, restaurants and supermarkets is 7 miles drive.
Poole and Bournemouth are also within easy access.
