About Mrs Julie Ward

Hi, we live in England and have found this lovely picturesque and tranquil house on the edge of the peaceful hamlet of Laudonie and would love to share our piece of France. We have friends locally and love this area, and would love to eventually live here full-time. The house has been furnished and completed to a high standard as we feel it should be a home from home for anyone staying there.

We have installed an in-ground pool for 2015 to enhance the property even more - we just don't want to leave!

Why Mrs Julie Ward chose Rochechouart

The Limousin is a beautiful green area of France and although we have the quiet rural location of a small hamlet, we are also close to amenities - you can just feel the stress slipping away as soon as you get here!

What makes this house unique

Peaceful location, not overlooked, lots of space

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Maison Scierie. My wife and I along with our two boys aged 9 & 4 spent a relaxing week during late August 2016 and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to get away from it for a while. Everything is a drive from the house so a car is a must but the setting and facilities, particularly the pool, were perfect for us. The house is comfortable and feels lived-in (in the nicest possible way) which was a plus for us with our children..... Supermarkets are within a 10 minute drive and there are some wonderful towns in very close proximity plus a couple of lovely leisure lakes. The week we spent there was incredibly hot (37+) so it limited our venturing out a we've booked again for 2 weeks in 2017 to explore Limousin a little bit more!

A Great House in Beautiful Countryside

  • 5 of 5

A great holiday home in a lovely location. Clean, spacious and well-maintained. Bedrooms were really well sized and beautifully decorated.

The house is in a great location for exploring the area although it was hard to drag the kids away from the pool. By far the best holiday home we've stayed in and can't wait to return...

Perfect Holiday Location

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a quiet and private place to stay, this is the holiday home for you. The property is well kept in beautiful grounds with a lovely heated pool. There are lots of things to do locally but it's also very easy to do little other than enjoy the weather (in our case 30+ degrees most days) and the pool! The nearby town of Rochechouart is delightful - we certainly recommend the restaurant at Hotel de France. We had a fabulous week at La Maison Scierie and hope to return in the future,

Beautiful setting, well equipped, a hidden gem.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely family holiday at La Maison Scierie. A tranquil setting in the heart of rural France. The house is large, extremely well equipped and very clean and comfortable. It benefits from Satellite TV which was popular for watching Le tour. and has a lovely selection of books and maps etc for planning your days out. The owners were exceptionally helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. I was staying with my grown up family. We enjoyed the setting and soon settled into the daily life of rural France. We particularly enjoyed the large well equipped swimming pool and exploring the grounds of the house. Nearby there are signed walks, which we used as morning running tracks. The house is surrounded by fields and woods and we enjoyed watching the beautiful Limousine cattle grazing close by. The local area has numerous hamlets and villages to explore with Summer fetes and markets. Rochechuart and the surrounding area is also famous for a meteorite impact crater which occurred 2.2 million years ago. There are plenty of walks and places of interest to explore. I would not hesitate in recommending this as a holiday destination. If you want peace and quiet, to read some books, walk a little, work on a suntan and possibly do some star gazing at night away from the usual tourist trail, then this is the place for you.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your informative review, there is so much to do in the area we often forget the meteorite town of Rochechouart, and time goes so quickly when you are there relaxing. I do hope you will consider staying at 'La Maison Scierie' again and maybe catch up on other things you may have missed - Cite Corot walk at St Junien, Gallo-Roman thermal Baths at Chassenon, Videix Leisure Lake - and the list goes on. I agree, the stars are so beautiful!

Lovely well equipped and located holiday home

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week at La Maison Scierie. The home is clean and well equipped. The heated pool was a real treat. Laudonie is a quiet hamlet but the neighbours we met were very friendly and helpful. The nearby Medieval town of Rochechoart is beautiful. We travelled with our dog and found some well sign posted walks, as well as an English speaking vet in Oradour sur Vayres who made sure our dog was ready to make the journey back to the UK. The owner of the property has been easy to communicate with at all times. We would happily book a stay at La Maison Scierie again... although we loved the area so much we would like to buy our own place!!
